TWTW - the one with the work

Working from the shore means you can go to the beach at lunch. While I think the sentiment is lovely, I am against releasing balloons because they end up as trash in the ocean and do harm to marine life. Please consider planting a tree instead!
I got a jumpstart on the weekend painting on the third floor, moving the furniture into a complicated maze and doing the first two coats (SW6477 Tidewater from Sherwin Williams) before grabbing a delicious dinner at Jon & Patty's with Debbie and hitting ACME for a few things. We did the final touch ups on the first room, shopped a LulaRoe sale from the couch, and called it a night.
Saturday we put the first room back together and moved all of the furniture out of the second aside from the heavy as fuck bunk beds. We moved them as much as we could and painted around. File under: things that were not fun. We guffawed at each other when we got caught back there. I was, as always, a disastrous mess of a painter. The paint in this room is  SW6512 Balmy from Sherwin Williams.
While the first coat was drying, we had lunch at Yianni's and stopped into Blue Lotus and Drip N' Scoop before checking out the beach. It was Girls Weekend in OC, but I don't think they meant girls dragging themselves around town like paint splattered hobos.
Another coat on the paint eating walls and then a trip to the laundromat to wash the couches - so key in a rental house. The laundromat was very into conservation and man, what a great place to people watch. I only take Debbie to the finest places when she comes down.
We had dinner at the Somers Point Diner...inadvisable. The final coat of paint and ass breaking bunk bed and other furniture moving were interrupted by stomach distress. By the time we were done around 8:30 I felt 189 years old. Right to bed.
Sunday sunrise. I missed these, so much. Outside of summer, waterproof boots are a must.
We did some touch up painting and reassembled the rooms. The front room is waiting on a tapestry and night tables and the back room on contact paper so they're still in flux. True before and afters at a later date when I get the rooms put back together this weekend.
We carried a bunch of shit from the third floor down three flights to ground level and other shit down two to the second level. Then the real bullshit began. Scraping, priming, and painting wood ravaged by salt air. Basically looking up and holding our arms up for three hours except for the half hour Debbie spent scraping the concrete. They were washed, scraped, scrubbed with a wire brush and still dirty as fuck so the paint made a huge difference. Two beams remain unfinished and I need to go back and clean the paint from the underside of the deck but at that point I was seeing stars and desperate for a neck brace. We ripped the carpet up off the porch (disregard the years of dirt under it, that will be dealt with next weekend) and did a lot of clean up before getting Wawa and then heading out. Debbie totally rocks. I think I broke us this weekend and she was a huge help and a total trooper. Or, you might say, badass.

It was lovely and I wanted to hit the beach but I was afraid of falling asleep or becoming immobile there and not wanting to drive home. Hashtag old people probs.

I got home a little after 3, did three loads of laundry, and slumped on the couch with my teeth in my mouth, too tired to breathe. I briefly considered not painting my hobo looking nails but could not get down with that (Rimmel Sweet Lavender and Grey Matter). The dogs were happy to have me home and stationary.
Weekly food prep: not today, sir. Breakfast is breakfast burritos from the freezer and I have chicken thawing but my oven igniter is on the fritz so I am not baking it. That's all I've thought about so far. I'll deal with that tonight.

No food made, no blogs written or planned. Let's see what this week brings, shall we?

  18. Wow reading this post on the computer is much easier than reading it on my cell phone! The house looks amazing. I have the same boots! Sometimes I need to use the laundromat and whenever I do I am brought back to that scene in Friends where Rachel fights for that little laundry cart/basket thing. It is in the first or second season. I usually start giggling in the laundromat and my husband just shakes his head.
I went to a Blanket Exercise with some church members this weekend which is a workshop that relationship between Indigenous people and Non Indigenous people it was extremely thought provoking. I thought your husband might find it interesting.

  19. Lucky to get from home on Friday and even better at the Shore house so the weekend can start faster without said commute in rush hour. What a sweet friend Debbie is to help out with all the painting and house work. Sounds like you girls got some big things accomplished and i love the SW Balmy color for a shore house or beach themed home. Balloons and plastic bags etc. are a no bueno for polluting beaches. That gets me so mad!
