Thursday Thoughts from Ireland

1. I thought it would be fun to do a Thursday Thoughts on the fly from vacation to catch some of the stuff I wouldn't put in a vacation post...signs like this one, spotted on a beach in Curracloe early in the morning.

2. Now taking applications. First in line: American politics. It is all over the place over here. The world has an intense interest in what we do.

3. Chicken butt.

4. Coming to Ireland in the off-season is awesome. I don't think we'd be able to do half of the things we've done in season. Driving here is definitely butt cheek clenching.

5. I love the proper Irish breakfast, and others have learned to as well since sometimes there's no lunch.

6. Castle steps, amiright? Not my happy place.

7. Living on the edge at the Cliffs of Moher yesterday on my Dad's actual 60th birthday.

8. Booknerds! Show Us Your Books is Tuesday. Don't forget!

9. Reminder.

10.  E-card of the week: Heyyyyy. hey. As always, thanks for stopping by.

And you?

I am travelling and will reply to comments when I return.

  11. Those steps look awful. If they went to the dungeon, I would exit that castle pronto.

Glad you're having an amazing time! Can't wait to hear about it when you get back.

  13. Happy birthday to your Dad! Oh stone spiral staircases are things of nightmare to me. At Warwick Castle there are whole series of really long ones on a one way track around the outer ramparts, so once you enter you're committed. I seriously nearly freaked out having gone up one, down another, up another and then realising I wasn't even halfway round yet. Nightmare.

  15. Great pics! Looks like you're having a great time! I always wanted to eat a full Irish after reading about them in the In Death books. One of the characters is Irish. :)

  16. Oh my gosh, yes. Your post takes me back to when I was in Ireland. The driving is nuts- skinny roads, opposite driver's seat, millions of roundabouts and signs in Gaelic! Haha! I loved the breakfasts there!! Those little sausages and the tomato slice every morning! The Cliffs of Moher and the Giant's Causeway were my favorite places to see!

  22. That sign rocks for so many reasons.
2, I wish more Americans realized that. We don't live in a vacuum over here. What we do has far-reaching consequences, for better and for worse.
Love following along with your trip on Insta. Looks like you guys are covering great ground and doing Ireland right!

  24. You're not kidding about the butt clenching driving. Ireland is the true test of any relationship. LOL Off-season travel is totally the way to go... and seems like the weather is being agreeable. I'm enjoying following along on your adventures. I was abroad during the 2004 election - it was fascinating. People are so much better informed than the average American... which is frustrating but not unexpected for me anymore. Enjoy it!!
