Thursday Thoughts

1. Newest weird fear: I will end a business call with I love you. I don't know why this has popped into my head, but I have alerted my closest coworkers so when it happens and I am on the floor in the fetal position, they'll know why.

2. New favorite pajamas: these pants from Target. So soft. Yes, I will be the loon roaming the shore streets this summer in printed pajama pants while urging my dogs to poop so we can go back home.
3. Swann Fountain is back on. I love it. Even when it's blowing every which way like it was Tuesday.
4. Other scenes from my walk to the library Tuesday - the trees in front of The Barnes, a lone daffodil, library dork tote bag, the mecca itself:
5. The Pennsylvania Primary is on Tuesday. I'll be voting. I will never not vote and I'll never take my right to vote for granted, because people like Alice Paul were imprisoned trying to get it for me. But I am royally pissed off at this government - I feel like it doesn't matter WHO gets elected President because Congress is sitting in D.C. like babies refusing to work or compromise or get over themselves and remember that they work for the people.
6. Speaking of women's rights, did you know that the Missouri legislature is threatening to jail the CEO of the local Planned Parenthood because she will not hand over patient medical files? Confidential, personal medical files. They don't only want to see the fetal tissue documents...they want to see abortion consent forms. Yeah, but we're equal. Federal privacy laws prohibit PP from releasing the materials but the GOP is still requesting them. This is seriously some fucking bullshit. p.s. : Periods for Pence is NOT bullshit. Go to the page. Follow along. Enjoy.

7. My pug shoes arrived. Gus is not impressed.

8. Next Sunday I'll be walking for my little girlfriend Eva the Diva on Team Eva the Diva in the March for Babies. Eva was born eight weeks early, weighed just over three pounds, and spent her first four weeks in the NICU. It was hard to watch Frank and Amanda go through that, so I can't imagine how hard it was for them to actually go through it. Eva is now a fierce, fiesty toddler, thanks in part to exceptional medical care and research funded by the March of Dimes. If you'd like to donate, please click here.

9. Hair done last night thanks to the fabulous Kristi at Sensational Scissors. No makeup thanks to Wednesday.

10. E-card of the week:

  1. #5 is important...but you covered that part. I have a funny story about "titty baby". My cousin has a son, and when he was in first grade, he told a kid to "stop being a titty baby". He got in MAJOR trouble. The teacher talked to my cousin when he picked his son up from school. My cousin told the teacher that he supported her as the leader of her classroom but said "May I ask what's wrong with 'titty baby'?" He came home mad at his parents saying "y'all always called us a 'titty baby' if we cried over silly stuff! now, I've passed that on to my son, and we BOTH got in trouble from the teacher!"

I laugh at that story even three years after it happened!

  3. Love your hair! I'm hoping for a cute new cut soon. Voting is a challenge. I don't even know where I'm assigned to vote, but I did send in my new registration information. Hopefully I'll get an update on where to go. I just have felt like--does my vote, which isn't exactly educated---actually help? Big names I can keep up with, such as President, but the local government stuff is much harder.

  4. Yes for voting! I agree with you...women like Alice Paul fought too hard for me not to vote. It's not negotiable. Pretty hair! Lovely scenes from Spring. Things are starting to bloom here too. Have a great day!

  5. Love your hair and those pj pants look really comfy. Also laughed at no makeup thanks to Wednesday :)

I have that "i love you" fear too - yesterday I was talking to my 4 year old on the phone and she was with my father in law, and I said "bye, I love you" just as he took the phone back from her. haha. Not a big deal but I don't usually say that to him ;) he just said "ok" and hung up fast :)

  6. I've accidentally called co-workers baby before, not cool at all and super embarrassing. At least if you say I love you on the phone they can't see you!

    Loving your hair!

  7. I don't know that anything would REALLY impress Gus.
I tend to steal/wear Scott's pj pants. So much more comfortable really.
A good haircut is a great feeling!

  8. Your hair looks great!!! I agree with you--DC politics is so stupid and I'm tired of basically everyone in office not doing anything! Love those PJ bottoms. I'll keep an eye out for you when I'm down the shore this summer!

  9. I'm just a huge fan of all these thoughts. And I really love the pictures of the fountains and your walk- spring pictures are the prettiest!
I really want to check out Target's PJ section but then I'll just get pulled in to yet another part of the store (accessories, clothes, office supplies, beauty, home goods, wall art, BULLSEYES PLAYGROUND ugh) where I can spend money I don't have...

  10. I cannot stop laughing about the fear of saying I love you before hanging up a business call. I had that fear! Also Congress. No accountability.

  11. Your hair looks great! I'm not going to lie, I never bothered to vote in the primaries until this year. Texas is always going to go red so my vote never felt like it counted. But, you're totally right - so many people worked so hard for the right to vote. Plus, I wanted to cast as many votes against a certain crazy person as possible, regardless of party affiliation.

  12. Its just like how the government wanted Apple to break into that phone... privacy is slipping quickly in our country.
Our government is a royal mess right now... but yep, never give up your right to vote. Change will come again.
... & yeah, Ricky just told the Cable people "I love you" when he called about our bill this past weekend. No joke. I laughed for 10 minutes over it.

  13. Love your hair. Abhor congress. Especially these GOP idiots that want to control and punish and stifle women. Read today's Skimm about BYU punishing a woman for reporting a sexual assault. I just can't stand this. All this shit goes on and we find out after the fact. Jesus. H. Christ. May their dicks burn with fire ants and shrivel up and fall off. That's really not nice but good God!
Okay , so have a good Friday eve.
    Love. Your. Momma

  14. Love those pj pants, they're adorable. Congress makes me angry, about as angry as I get at people who only vote for president like congress doesn't matter. I definitely believe in congressional term limits, someone get on that.

  15. Love your hair! It looks great! I feel the same way about both voting. I get annoyed when people don't vote but I get even more annoyed when those same people that don't vote complain about the government. I refuse to listen. If you didn't even attempt to make a change/have a say then you don't get to complain.

  16. ok those pug shoes are THE coolest! do they make shar pei ones!?!? also that e-card. we all know that one person. and they need to be punched in the face...with a chair.

  17. I can't with the Republicans and their incessant picking on Planned Parenthood anymore. They're being such fuckwads. Also, since I am a registered Independent, I cannot vote in primaries in Delaware. This is the first time I've been upset about it because, well, you get it.

And OMG, your mom's comment. LOL for DAYS.

    ReplyDelete
  18. 100% agree with #5 and #6 just pisses me off. WTF! It is insane and we have to speak-up and out. Love the pug shoes and hair.

  19. LOL at your new fear. I don't know why that made me think of this, but I always feel unnecessarily embarrassed when I say "you too" after something that someone is clearly not also doing. For example, gate or TSA agent: "Have a nice flight!" "You too!"

  20. Shocked that I haven't heard about Missouri's situation. That is some grotesque BS. Honestly, what is the matter with these people? They've lost their minds. And go Alice Paul! I love me some BA women. Can you imagine what that must have taken during that time period to push for? Amazing. And congress is useless. I don't take anyone seriously who gives a President ALL the blame and zero credit. Girl, bye. Nice hair! Hilarious about your fear. Don't hate me for kinda hoping it happens, lol. And funny about the pajama pants and dog sitch. I get so annoyed when Chandler takes forever to poop, esp. before work after numerous times where he starts to squat and then decides that that patch of grass just simply isn't good enough... for the love!

  21. I'm with you on #5...our Government refuses to compromise to meet in the middle and people just whine. It's so frustrating.
And I love your hair! It looks great!

  22. As much as I can't wait to cast my vote in the NJ primary, I have to agree with you...the whole election process feels futile right now. Not because I don't believe my vote matters (and I will go to the mattresses with anyone who makes that claim as a reason why they don't vote), but because the government isn't working, as you say. And I didn't know about #6, so thank you. Disgusting. HIPAA is a thing, guys. And why do the laws of the land that the GOP like to scream about (when it serves them) not apply to them in terms of the role and function of government? You either follow the law or you don't hysterically insist everyone else follow your favorites while you do whatever the hell you want. Unacceptable. When's the revolution? I'm ready.

  23. I voted for Alice Paul to be the lady featured on the new currancy. I'm not mad about Harriet "The Spy" Tubman, though. I'm here for that.

  24. Atta girl - I had a work happy hour Tuesday and all I could think about is, "Wait, when am I going to vote?" I went before work and came in a bit late because of it because it's important to me and should be to EVERYONE. Also, the shit that Planned Parenthood has to endure is HORRIFIC.

  25. I love Gilligan & O'Malley stuff from Target! That is a cute print on those pants. Your hair looks cute!!! At first I giggled about your fear of saying I love you on a work call but then I was like hmmmmm I could totally see myself doing that. Awkward! March of Dimes is a wonderful organization.

  26. Periods for Pence is my favorite. I love it, and I hate him and his stupid law. And Congress infuriates me. The Supreme Court thing where their logic was, "We are going to wait until America elects someone they want!" Ummm, wait...where were they when America reelected Obama in 2012...? Anyone? Basically the government is just really pissing me off.

On a happier note: love the pug shoes!!!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I have those pants and they are SO COMFORTABLE. Love your pug shoes. And I once ended a work email with "I love you!" LIKE AN IDIOT. The worst was that I realized it like .02 seconds after I pressed send.

  28. I love your hair! I need those shoes. I totally understand your fear, been there, done that. Awkward.

  30. That first one had me cracking up but i mean there is a good possibility it could happen to any of us... My most recent mess up was calling a client Lola (in my defense her actual name is Lolo so that was an easy mess up.) LOL Your hair looks amazing and so healthy!

  31. Omg, I've had that crazy fear of saying I love you when I'm ending a phone call too, it's the most bizarre thing!! lol!
    Love your cut!

    ReplyDelete
  32. You look so pretty with your new hair cut! Also, I love those pajamas!

  33. Those pjs look so comfy! The political scene in the US right now is terrifying. As someone who has to live next door I really hope that everyone votes and really puts some thought into the whole process.

  34. Pretty haircut and cute shoes! I'll be voting in my primary next Tues!

  35. Now I'm hoping that I never say "I love you" at the end of a business call! I love your pug shoes! They're so cute, even though Gus isn't impressed!

  36. love those pj pants! and the pug shoes. so fab. kc asked me why i don't say i love you on the phone at work and it's because i'm terrified i'll actually say it at work to someone else, so nope.

  37. Your hair looks great! I love Target pj's, they're super comfy and cute :)

  39. Gus isn't judging the pug shoes. He's judging those SOBs who think they are entitled to medical records.
