In my midnight confessions...when I say all the things that I want to

I don't mind encountering small to medium grade douchebags because there's usually fun in recounting the tale.

I can't let an actual sleeping dog lie - I have to pet it or hug it or kiss it, which of course wakes the dog up.

Shit has been piling up in our basement room that is a catch all for the house and Summer Steph has been dealing with that. And by dealing with that, I mean that Summer Steph doesn't give a shit about de-cluttering the basement and putting things away because that B is lazy.

When the weather is as awful liquid hot magma hot and take your breath away humid like it's been this week, I feel like going back in time and round house kicking everyone who prayed for summer.

Have I mentioned that while I love things about each season, summer is my least favorite? I know, only the not-fun kids dislike summer. I'm okay with it.

If you post a photo of the temperature of your car, even if I love you more than life, I dislike you a lot as soon as I see that photo. It's fleeting, but the dislike is there.

Harry Potter references annoy me.

I've been eating ice cream more often than I've not been eating ice cream and you can tell.

I left my planner at work over last weekend because I didn't feel like lugging it on the plane with me. I felt like a part of me was missing and kept panicking a little on Sunday.

After watching Lost Boys for the zillionth time on Sunday night, I spent a solid 35 minutes thinking about how I'd deal with an influx of vampires in my life.

What do you have to share with the class today?

  1. The humidity and heat has been horrible this week. It really makes you want to just sit and be still so as to not sweat just for breathing. Here's to hoping we have a cooling off period soon!

  2. Bwahaha, the vampire reflections at the end were the best. The Summer comments were a second runner up. That's why you live in the cold and I live in the Summer. The winter makes me miserable!! I've been eating way too much ice cream AND I just don't really get HP references since I Didn't read it. *shrug*

  3. Yea I was looking forward to summer back in March and want to kick myself with this humidity. I'm horrible because I'm looking forward to September when ALL kids go back to school. The influx just makes everything so crowded...and loud. Another confession I could think of is I hate, hate Halloween.

  4. hahahaa to the sleeping dog. i'm the same with my cats. i'm like, oh you look so adorable and sweet and peaceful. let me wake you up.
i dislike the temp photos in the car as well. my car doesn't have a temp thingy, so i am safe. i also love summer, especially the awful want to die heat, so i am totally the idiot who prays for summer all the live long day / year. it hasn't gotten that hot here yet though.
i ate a whole tub of ice cream on friday night. i am not allowed to have ice cream in the house for this reason.

  5. If summer didn't bring it's crappy ass cousin humidity we would be better friends. I have heard many times the last couple of days from different people I love humidity or when it is steamy outside it is the best. You won't ever hear me say those words.

  6. I was definitely one of those looking-forward-to-summer people. I was a fool! I love that you have an alter ego for summer. I know a lot of people who have one for intoxication, but I think hot, muggy summers are equally deserving of a different personality.

  7. Summer Kelli never cares about organizing and decluttering either but I can feel summer ending sooner this year with school starting so my mind is making lists of things to throw away, clean, and redecorate on school days!

I did and do whine about missing summer and although it's felt like over 100 for 30+ days here this year I try not to complain about the heat.

My confession is people that proclaim to love a season and then whine about it should be throat punched.

My other confession is when I got my $300 power bill last weekend I did complain a little.

  8. Bleh summer is my least favorite season as well! I can't even just stand still and not sweat. No thank you. I'll take 50 degrees and windy any day!

  9. I'm so over the heat and humidity. The other day I told someone I'm looking forward to snow! As much as I was looking forward to nicer days because of the past winter, I'm over it. The heat and humidity just make me super cranky. It drives me crazy when people are like oh i love it. ugh..

  10. I've been doing the ice cream thing, too. It's not even that warm here so I have no good excuse at all, I just really like ice cream.... And we make a habit of complaining about the weather regularly here in the UK, come rain or shine, so you're in good company. I think we have an endless capacity for weather related discussions. We can be a somewhat dull nation, to be honest.

  11. Love the Midnight Confesseions lead-in!
Summer is my favorite. I would rather come in to get cool or go in the pool than layer clothes on myself, especially coats, which I hate to wear when I drive. Ditto on boots.
Today is a glorious respite from the hotter-than-Hades weather. Even when I had a paying job, summertime made the living more easy. Lol, on petting the sleeping pups. I was always kissing the sleeping kids, too! Enjoy this spectacular day.
    Love, Your Monma

  12. Confessions misspelling!
Love the gratitude list- especially clean water. And The Lost Boys, scary, but I just loved watching that movie!

  13. I definitely snapchatted a pic of the temperature in my car on saturday.... WHOOPS. I need to be better. haha.

  14. Summer is also my least favorite. I can't understand why anyone in this world would decide to get married in the hot summertime when the heat just melts the makeup of your face and makes everyone generally feel like poo.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Heat makes me lazy.
    Ice cream makes me happy.
    Stupid people make me stabby.
Puppies make me way less crabby.

  16. I only share the car temp via snapchat and it was only once and since you aren't there, it doesn't count. No one cares about it in snapchat, but really no one cares about it on instagram. My dislike of water and the sun also make me hate summer. But I get tired of hearing about OMG fall and pumpkin spice everything, so I'm enjoying the last few weeks before #psl takes over the internet.

  17. I just don't get harry potter - not for me i guess! xo, Biana-BlovedBoston

    ReplyDelete
  18. You make me want to watch The Lost Boys again.
I love Harry Potter but I can never remember references so I'm safe :)

    ReplyDelete
  19. The car thermometer picks enrage me as well.

I confess that I don't love the actual beach. I love the idea of the beach, but the sand and salt water are just too much for me. I can do the beach for like 30 minutes. Now, give me a pool overlooking the beach, and we are in business.

I confess that I feel like a technological moron trying to use Snapchat. My cousin only uses it (no FB or IG) and convinced me to join so I could see more pictures of her kids and I have no idea what I am doing. The worst.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I do the same thing with my dogs. They must be hugged and bothered.

Contemplating an influx of vampires is definitely something I'd do, especially if Scott is around during the watching of such a movie because he loves to talk about that stuff.

Summer Jana cares less about decluttering and organizing even more than Other Seasons Jana which really isn't all that much to begin with so my house is a big pile of mess.

  21. I wish I lived in a historic city. Colorado Springs is actually really boring in that regard.

I like recounting tales of d-bags too. It's like a bonding experience with like-minded people.

I actually hate spring. Isn't that weird? I mean, winter and snow and cold has its place on my hate list (near the very top), but I hate the sometimes warm, sometimes cold, rainy, muddy, brown, gross, windy March/April/half of May. Here, it didn't turn pleasant until after Memorial day. I don't like it at all. I like September the best. Summer is okay.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Summer is my least favorite holiday too and we've had the crappiest weather. No rain for months, drought conditions, temps in the 90s, wild fire smoke in the air, humid as hell one day, dry the next. It's gross. Bring on fall!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Summer is my favorite more in theory. I love it because it means freedom for me. Weather wise...fall is my favorite. And really, now that I live in Texas where the weather never really changes I don't really have a favorite/least favorite. In MN summer/fall were my favorites & I despised the subzero temps of winter.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Spring is my least favorite season. I struggle with the rain and sun all at once (I'd rather it be sunny or rainy, both is basically my nightmare). And I love summer but I get tired of it after awhile, being sticky 24/7 wanes on me! I enjoy Fall & Winter.

Why do HP references annoy you? So curious! I love me some H Pizzle and with you being such a huge reader, do tell!

That's funny about the car temperature picture. That's how I feel about daily gym selfies. Don't get me wrong,I don't mind a gym selfie from someone every now and again, but those who post them every single day ... but that's just me.

  25. You and Jared alike on that first one--- he doesn't met a douchey person bc he likes to either a) mess with them b) tell a good story later of c) both! Haha. The thermometer pics annoy me too- we know. It's summer- it's hot.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Blasphemy about HP references! But I guess I'll let it slide...

And I'm the same way about sleeping doggies, too cute not to snuggle!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Fall Steph is going to be super pissed at Summer Steph. The fallout shall be brutal.
I too dislike summer. Winter is my jam, give me all the snow and frozen-ness and I don't even care if my eyeballs freeze in my head while walking to work in my 17 thousand layers. I love it.
I do not apologize for my HP references. They aren't many, but they certainly aren't stopping.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Hot, humid days suck, but I still love summer the best! I'd much rather be hot than cold.
Why do Harry Potter references annoy you? I'm not a huge fan, but definitely curious!

  29. I'm fairly obsessed with my planner too and convinced I won't be able to function without it.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I always have to mess with my dogs when they are laying near too. They are just so darn cute and peaceful when sleeping that I cant help it! And ummm I have two whole rooms in my house that are catch alls right now. I need to get my life together. I am team fall. Let's do a cooler temp dance or something. I might melt here. Quite literally.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Oops! I posted a car temp pic on the weekend while I was melting whilst working a ton of pet visits. It was disgusting. Oh well!

I too must stop and kiss a dog, awake or sleeping. I'm often known for stopping the bloody car when I see a Great Dane too. When we're out, if Jeff loses me, he doesn't look out into the ground but rather down, because I'm often on the ground with a dog or five. Lol

  32. Summer sucks! I live on the second floor in an apartment without AC. I spend so !much time on the porch and even bought a reclining love seat at Habitat for my porch!

    1. First, apologies for the very tardy response!

Growing up we didn't have A.C. I remember many a night just sweating with a damp washcloth around my neck.

  34. Yeah, the weather has been disgusting. Summer isn't my least favorite (that honor goes to winter), but it definitely isn't my favorite anymore. Also, minor douchebag interactions amuse me to no end, as long as they're minor and not like scary. Or as long as the douchebag isn't a lawmaker or a supervisor of mine or something...

  35. Look who's finally commenting!!! Ive been reading your blog, but not commenting. I'm hoping to once again keep up with blog world. I don't take temperature car pics bc they are never accurate and that bother me. I don't do HP references bc I've never read the books, but I do a lot of Encino Man references. And that will never ever stop!

    ReplyDelete
  36. I can't let a sleeping cat lie. Sometimes they are just so cute, you have to snuggle.

I've been doing major planner research. What planner do you use? Does it have day pages?

    ReplyDelete
  37. I am one of the not fun kids and I will post all the happy blizzard posts when winter comes! Call me Elsa because the Cold Never Bothered Me! I also cannot let sleeping dogs lie. I must pet them. All of them!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Seriously. The humidity. I'm done. I remember saying repeatedly during the winter, "I would do anything for a really hot summer day." What was I thinking?

    ReplyDelete
  39. My Instagram feed is full of babies and children this week. Babies and children don't inspire me, they annoy me. I want them gone :)

    ReplyDelete
  40. I just wanted to let you know that I've been off hunting horcruxes and gathering ingredients for potions all over Britain, and that Lord Voldemort is a bad guy, but it's OK because I've a bottle of Felix Felicitus that shall fix you right up. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  41. i hate summer too. I'm not sure which is worse, summer or winter. as much of a bitch the humidity is, I'm going to say winter, I can at least sit in my car and read in the summer.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Hell yeah for being summer haters together! Also, the idea of round-housing summer fiends brought me a little giggle.
I'm the person that doesn't MOVE if my dogs are sleeping. I don't want to rouse them. They will then bombard me with their stinky breath and tail whipping and head butts. I just enjoy the peace. Also, I get glares if I'm too loud.. like if I sneeze, they will GLARE at me. Assholes.

    ReplyDelete
  43. All those people that complained how cold it was who are NOW complaining that it's too hot. I want to drown them. That gets under my skin like nothing else. But yes, it's been crazy hot/humid. Fortunately this week has had a little reprieve. I still think you should stop by our little beach soiree tomorrow! :)
