TWTW - the one that felt like spring in February

Walking past a man singing Damn it Feels Good to Be a Gangsta is a perfect way to leave the workweek behind on Friday. I did virtually nothing that night except finish this fucked up book and get a massage at 9 pm. I also got the sketch for the tattoo I'm getting to cover up the one currently on my back, and I loved it.
Saturday morning MFD and I went to a Meet a Muslim Neighbor gathering. More on that tomorrow. Sorry because if you're on IG you might have already seen this photo there and I rarely double up.
Then we threw the dogs in the car and drove to the shore to take in the salt cure.
We also checked in on the house to make sure all was well and to remind ourselves of all the work that is coming our way in a few weeks.
We were back home by 5 and lounged the night away. The dogs were absolutely exhausted after their beach run. I started a new book and watched a Golden Girls marathon. The best thing about doing that is singing the theme song every half hour. Thank you for being a friendddd
Sunday morning started with unfortunately weak coffee that had to be tossed. I did the changing of the sheets and the other hausfrauing bullshit required not to be a dirtbag. Then I met up with a small progressive group in my area at Panera before sitting outside with the dogs to enjoy the 70 degree weather on February 19. It's nice and all but climate change, man.
Weekly food prep was light this week: scrambled eggs with spinach and cheese for breakfast; snacks are power breakfast muffins, granny smith apples, and cucumbers; lunches are baked pesto chicken over brown rice; and dinners will be spaghetti with simple sauce and salmon with steamed veggies.
Sunday afternoon we went to Catie & Joe's engagement party to celebrate their upcoming nuptials where I ate a shit ton of sugar, shared many laughs with friends, and took zero photos.

And in the spirit of President's Day...
That about does it for me. How was yours? What is your favorite thing you did?

  1. The weather was divine. Our dogs loved it and were worn out, too. The rain in California was bad ! Lights to them.
Really looking forward to spring and grateful for 2 spring-like days. Have a nice and safe and sound week❣️
    Love. Your. Momma.

  4. Fantastic weekend weather here as well.
I can't wait to hear about your "Meet your Muslim Neighbor" event. I participated in a "love your Muslim Neighbor" 3 part series in November and it was wonderful.
My weekend was not very exciting at all. I guess my favorite part was going to church and listening to a guest preacher about racial justice it was very inspiring and put me in a very good mood.
Also putting me in a good mood is that it is actually a 4 day weekend. :) I'm going to head to my parents they got a new car with lots of bells and whistles and they called saying "the Bumpkins got a new car" "Please help" :)
    Have a great week.

  6. Your dogs look so happy on the beach! Hawkeye hates it. She gets sand on her paw and then looks at me at like 'BETRAYAL. WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS TO ME' It's all very dramatic, so we just stick to the grass.
Could not believe the weather this weekend, it was amazing out. I had all the doors and windows open. Climate change is real indeed.

  7. And now I have the theme song from Golden Girls stuck in my head. One of the best shows to binge for sure!!! Seeing all of you on the shore makes me long for some beach time. It was a gorgeous weekend here, but nothing beats the beach! Hope you have a great week!

  8. Behind Her Eyes - I'm still thinking about that book! I need to look for a Meet a Muslin rally because I'm sure they are having them here. The Jefferson quote is spot-on. Pinned!

  9. I love all the local groups and events you guys are able to go to. That's awesome.
I took Enzo 2 hours south to Columbus to visit a friend and hit up the dog park this weekend. I'm glad for the sunshine, but these warm winter days makes me so scared for the future of the planet and future generations/animals. Ugh.

  14. Too funny you left work and heard the song "Damn it Feels Good to Be a Gangsta." It would make me feel so liberated from the work week as well in a fun way! So you like Golden Girls too? I've been watching it since high school and love the show...maybe I'm an old soul. Rose reminds me of my grandmother (not because she's ditsy) but because she's so sweet and genuine and I get a hoot out of Sophia!

  15. I don't think I've watched a full episode of Golden Girls since it originally aired but the internet makes me want to since it's on all the time. I'm with you on climate change - it feels great now in theory but I'm going to hate life when it's over 100 for three months straight.

  16. we had lovely weather last weekend too, but seriously... climate change man.
weird question, you premake breakfast like scrambled eggs, do you heat them up? or eat them cold? i make those egg muffin things so i imagine they are the same, but never tried scrambled eggs.
the dogs look so happy on the beach!

  17. Our weather was beautiful as well. We spent pretty much the entire weekend outdoors.

I need a massage right about now that sounds like an amazing Friday!

  19. What did you think of the ending of Behind Her Eyes???? I've been so anxious to talk to someone about it! Looks like a great quick trip to the shore to enjoy some of the warmer weather & check in on everything/

  20. I got a hefty dose of the salt cure all last week, but I still want the Sleep Cure. Is that bad?
