TWTW - the one with the family celebrations

Friday I worked until about 1, then we headed to my cousin's wedding. Everything was beautiful and I'm glad they could get married in this shitfire of a pandemic. We appreciated being at our own table spaced well away and masked in common areas when not eating or drinking or snapping a quick pic. If you can survive the sometimes stress of wedding planning quadrupled by a pandemic, you can probably survive everything. Congratulations Kristine & Walter! Thanks to Aubrey for being the lipstick holder and my family for a night filled with laughs in a time when I could really use them.
Saturday I was not even in my first cup of coffee before campaign whirlwind descended. They finally all took off for the day and I hung with the dogs, ran to the store, checked out the amazing trees in my neighborhood like I do every year, and consoled Mae while MFD gave an interview in the living room. I made sweet and sour meatballs, a vat of onion dip, cut up veggies, and did laundry.
I also packaged Halloween candy individually. We set up a little different this year but we were still out there giving out, masked up when close to the table. MFD did do his live pumpkin carving, decorated the railing and window literally at 6:30 pm, the dogs were window creeps and frantically trying to get to use in the driveway, and we hung out with our shared driveway neighbors so some things did not change. We were closed up by 9 and watched The Witches of Eastwick, which I love.

Sunday Freaking Bruce was up at 4:42 due to DST. I never went back to sleep, but I did lay down and rest for a while. I tried to read but kept getting distracted. I've been reading the same book for over a week. I painted my nails (Zoya Indigo) and caught a half hour of a Northeast Anti-Racism call before heading into my Dad & Carol's for tacos and memory and cake for my Dad's birthday.

Which is today. Happy birthday Dad! Love you so much, thank you for being who you are in general and who you are as a Dad to me, specifically.

Everyone else out there - have you voted or do you have a voting plan for tomorrow? People's lives are literally on the line and I need you to make a plan to vote if you have not. To those of you out there who are stressed the fuck out right now. I get it. I am literally living inside of a smaller Election in the shadow of this Election of our lifetimes. So I truly get it. Hang in there. We're going to be okay.

TWTW - the one before Election Day

Friday was working from home, so before I started I was able to change the sheets and put laundry away and at lunch I got to the post office, library for drop off, and Sam's. I had a hair appointment at night with the fabulous Kristi and she changed up the color and chopped it off. I went to Target in the rain on the way home because I had a freaking lamp that needed to be returned in my front seat. I painted my nails and have no brain power to retain the names (also in an ideal world I'd take the pic after I cleaned them up around the edges but IDGAF right now), did some volunteer work for the campaign, and started a new book.

Saturday MFD didn't tell me I was in charge of snacks for the office so I was back at Sam's by 8 am, then to the office, back home, then out all afternoon with Morgan and Debbie door knocking. I missed my brother and Aubrey and the kids but did get to see Gail and Shawn after our shifts. I only saw my mom briefly as she was dropping off food her and Kate made for the day. Debbie, Morgan, and I went to Panera around 6, back to clean up the office from the day, then Debbie and I watched Heathers and The Breakfast Club.
Sunday I hit the grocery store and Philly Pretzel Factory before heading to the office. I got to see Mark and Sarah before heading out which was great. Debbie, Melissa, Morgan, and I crunched around through the leaves with a fucked up map, knocking on doors. It was nice to be with a fierce lady crew and the foliage was gorgeous.
Also fangirled like mad when Sally Kohn and Dissent Pins shared my posts in their stories on IG.
Weekly food prep: maybe next week?

I'm off tomorrow to work the polls or whatever I will be doing from 7 am - 8 pm. I'll probably be scarce around here this week but am usually never scarce on Instagram LOL.

What's your voting plan? When will you go, how do you get to your polling place, and are you taking anyone with you?

the weekend getaway that was

Diary of a mad hausfrau: MFD had a listing appointment so I was able to change the sheets, clean both baths and the kitchen, put laundry away, empty the dishwasher, sort the mail and vacuum the entire house. I love coming home from a weekend away to a clean abode. As you can see above, los perros were anxious to leave so as soon as MFD got home on Friday we were gone with the wind.

+

We hit bad weather and had a bit of a harrowing drive, finally arriving at Lori & Jack's close to 11.
The dogs were ecstatic, and we were happy to have a weekend of relaxing ahead of us.

+

Geege was up most of the night. He was too excited to sleep.
We were up for good early on Saturday, which required a lot of coffee.
I didn't mind being up early since it was Lori's birthday and we had a lot to get in!
Excuse the schizophrenic photo frames in this post.
Variety is the spice of life? Yes. That's the ticket.

+

A damp but invigorating walk in the woods. Lots of dogs scampering and fall foliage.
My boys were on the go with Max, Lori's youngest puppy.
Check out Darby, who's blind and will be 15 in December. She was out there
trucking along over the river and through the woods with the rest of the pack. Miracle dog!

+

A quick jaunt into LeRaysville to The Cheese Factory.

+

The LeRaysville Market. I'd never been there and was bowled over by their selection and prices.

+

A stop at the Dandy is a must. I love the coffeepots.

Enjoying the great outdoors

Excuse my fuzzy deer

I was showered and in my pajamas by 2 pm. It was fabulous. We feasted on a snack food spread,  watched a bunch of college football and had a blissful doze.

+

Steaks on the grill, twice baked stuffed potatoes, steamed broccoli, red wine and cake from The Flying Cow Bakery. Happy birthday Lori!

Dates from Hell on ID Channel

I'd like to have coffee like this every day.

Sunny Sunday woods walk

+

One of Jack's big breakfasts.
True fact: I only eat pancakes at Lori & Jack's.

+

A seamless two hour and 45 minute ride home with some very tired dogs and some
glorious fall foliage views. And of course the requisite MFD photo in Meshoppen.

+

Enchiladas for dinner. Ole!
I sauteed some chicken and onions, added a bit of sour cream, enchilada sauce,
cumin, garlic powder and some Tastefully Simple fiesta mix.
I plopped some of that in the middle of whole wheat tortillas, grated some cheese on top, poured
enchilada sauce over them, added some more grated cheese on top, and baked at 400 for 20 minutes.

the weekend that was

What a wonderful weekend. I love going to Lori & Jack's, and it was even better this time because it was Lori's birthday and I got to spend it with her. I was so relaxed that I couldn't even bring myself to do the mountain of laundry that's currently in the basement.

Toodleoo, tootsies. Happy Monday.

I'm linking up with Sami's ShenanigansFive30Three, and Join the Gossip for the weekend update - check them out!
