Christmas Pipe Dream Wish List

I've seen a lot of wish lists on blogs over the past month. Tis the season to put all your wishes out there, right? My list is not as simple as an awesome mug or sparkly flip flops. These are things I really want but things I know I'm not going to get.

Things like...

*Four day work weeks and three day weekends or European company vacation time at American companies

*A lifetime supply of Sanuks

*Canada's maternity policy for American families

*Equal pay for equal work across the board

*For no one to stop dead in the middle of a walkway or doorway like they own it

*For a consenting adult of sound mind to be able to marry whoever they want

*For no one to be hungry or without clean water or shelter

*An overhaul of the welfare, justice, and education systems in America

*A cure for childhood cancer. Cancer is a douche warlord in general, but childhood cancer destroys me.

*Term limits for all politicians - 5 years of service and you're out. Politics should not be a career.

*A good, safe, loving home for all children

*A huge fenced in farm and the funds to operate it so I can house all the unwanted and mistreated dogs out there.

*An end to multi-media and people playing MFing videos when TV or radio is on or having radio and TV on simultaneously. It is annoying as fuck and it must stop.

*For vaginas not to be political agenda items

*Less need to be right and more of a need to understand and be understood worldwide

*Teleportation abilities

*Peace on earth, the biggest pipe dream of all. People have been fighting over power, greed, religion, control, land, money, and resources since the beginning of time and it will continue on until the end of time unless we start evolving a lot more quickly. Still, it's nice to dream.

I could go on forever but it's Friday and I have shit to do. Come sit on my lap and tell me what's on your far out wish list.

  1. Yes, Yes, Yes. I will gladly trade in all my shiny wishlist items for these things. Particularly equal pay and the maternity leave policy! Those reach home with me as I've actually had to deal with both!!! Such a good list!!!!

  2. I would much rather have the things on my pipe dream wish list come true than the monetary items I am currently asking for! Great list -- I definitely agree with a lot of these!

  3. My coworker is pregnant and she let me know that our district doesn't offer maternity pay at all. You can take up to 9 weeks off but it's all unpaid. I remember that Alaska gave 3 weeks paid and you could take 3 weeks unpaid after that. America has its priorities in a very crooked line.

  4. I love your list - not far fetched for some of these ideas although I don't think we'll ever have standard three day weekends which is sad...LOL! Happy Friday! xo, Biana - BlovedBoston

  5. We can achieve some of this! It's a beautiful list, I wish for all of this stuf, too!
    Merry weekend before Christmas!!!
    Love, your Momma

  6. Yes yes yes to all of this. I guess I'm shooting low in wishing for flying cars instead of teleportation. Teleportation would be way better. But hey -- baby steps?

  7. Abuse of children, animals and the elderly eradicated. No one without enough food, water or shelter. Everyone to experience unconditional love. The ability to cross over so no one suffers if they get an incurable disease. All of the hopes and dreams come true for the children of my heart Stephanie, Stephen and Sean. Finally teleportation lol.

  8. ohhh heck yes. especially like that politicians only get 5 years. four day work weeks. HERE HERE!

  9. I fully support all of these especially the 3 day weekends. If Cancer would go away completely that would be grand. I say we open that farm and save all the unwanted animals.

  10. So much yes to all of this! Troy and I were just talking about political careers. I mean, we limit the amount of time a person can serve as President. Why can't we limit the terms of other politicians? People do not need to be in power for 20 years. I say we enact all of these things .. beginning now. Bring on the 4 day work week! Hah

  11. Wait.myou can't have teleportation! That one's mine!

  12. Yes. A million times yes to all of those. I came home one day & CJ had my TV on mute while he was watching something on his phone...my mind was like WTF is happening right now?!

  13. agreed--let people marry who they want to!!

  14. yes to every single one of these. I have so much I could say about all of these, but I'll just leave it at YES.

  15. My FIL likes to do the radio and TV simultaneously thing and what makes it worse is that it's Rush Limbaugh AND Fox News... I don't care what side of the spectrum you're on, a double whammy of politics is ridiculous! I know some people who are opening a dog farm like what you're talking about and it sounds amazing. Fantastic list full of the things that would make life better as well as less annoying!

  16. A great comprehensive list indeed. I personally agree with better maternity (and paternity) leave policies, as well as more affordable quality childcare. And ending hunger in the world. Seriously, considering how much food Americans WASTE, how is it that people are still dying of hunger around the world?!

  17. Aww I love the idea of the big farm for all unwanted pups!!! I'd also love the European work model, too ;)

  18. Politics should not be a career, I love it!! Also the vagina thing - absolutely. I just can't watch the animal cruelty it makes me all weepy every time so I would love to be able to help out like that.

  19. Yes, Yes, Yes!! The advancement of transportation has really let me down. I remember being a kid and imaging all the cool ways we would be able to travel...and what do we have nothing, nothing! I often wonder if we will see a change in many of these things in our lifetime...I just don't see how our current political system/policies are sustainable. I think no matter what side people are on the system is so corrupt and broken in some many areas.

  20. A farm with enough land and well paid helpers that I could feed all those I love with organic, no chemical fruits and veggies all year round. Eventually those well paid helpers would be able to go buy their own farms.

For all of us to be able to love and be loved without conditions.

For everyone to be respected enough to allow them to make their own decisions about their bodies. Whether it be the choice to have a child or the choice to end your life with dignity, or anything in between.

Enough wealth that I could take my tribe on an amazing vacation in the exotic land of our choosing every year.

  21. Great list, I think you pretty much covered everything! I wish it wasn't so expensive to buy healthier food. Like organic and gluten-free. I'm not a health nut but junk food is so cheap. WTF?
I wish to never have a mortgage or anyone for that matter. I wish my best friend's future ex-husband wasn't such a douchebag and would take care of his kids, financially and emotionally. (Sorry for my rant)

  22. Seriously, this list is amazing. I can't even tell you how bad I wish for that maternity policy. The fact that I get 6 weeks unpaid scares me so bad!

    ReplyDelete
  23. I wish I could grant all of your wishes- you've been such a support to me. And of course your wishes are totally unselfish. Bring on the teleportation!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Love your list - My son keeps telling me he's going to make a teleportation device, but can't start until "daddy gets me some wires" - I laugh, but dude, seriously, teleportation is on my list too.

Pod people to steal Emry, but only on the days where he seems possessed - - - seriously, parenting is surreal sometimes.

UHM- Tropical vacation... to anywhere - by myself (and still being paid to work, while I'm on it) - for like A MONTH

  25. The marriage things just needs to happen already!!! And I'm totally jealous of Canada's maternity leave...the US should at the very least have a maternity leave and not make people use short term disability. I was so shocked when I found out how that all works!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Yes to all of this!

I'd also like for calories not to count during the holidays.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Gimme European holiday schedules, Canada's maternity leave, Mexico's two-hour lunch break and Hawaii's weather...that would be a perfect world, right? Plus the destruction of cancer...that is my one and only wish. Happy holidays to you, lady! xoxo

  28. This is the best wish list ever!!! I wish for all of these things, with the farm for all of the dogs at the top of my list :)

    Have a great weekend, friend!

  29. That last one might sound so cliche but its genuinely one of the things I wish for. I feel like the fighting etc is getting worse. Also equal pay haha ... thats pretty important too! Great list girl!

  30. Overhaul of the education system .... and the ability to fire ineffective teachers with pisspoor attitudes. I cannot comprehend why people who think our kids are crap stay in education...

    ReplyDelete
  31. I would like the death penalty to abolished in every single state. And, in addition to term limits, I'd like to limit campaign contributions to under $500,000. That way, I don't have to look at a politicians campaign contributions to understand why he or she filed a bill supporting payday lending.

  32. 1) This is such a cool post!
    2) What the fuck is Sanuks?
    3) Pete is the absolute WORST at having multiple electronics on. No joke, he will be watching TV, listening to music and browsing on his iPad. It drives me BATTY!

  33. for reals with the stopping in the walkways and such. so rude. and yeah wish we had australian vacation, australian maternity leave and australian healthcare... but i still want all the american stuff lol. and haha yeah people need to leave vaginas alone.
