snippets of the weekend 2.20.2023

Friday I painted my nails at lunch and worked until just after 3. We headed to Dad & Carol's in rain and holiday weekend traffic, coming through at the right time to see a magnificent on the road sunset. We were welcomed to our B&B with pillow candy and signage. Carol had pulled pork and salad and snacks out. Stephen & Aubrey and the kids arrived soon after us. We were all up Saturday morning by 7 for Lola's pancakes.
We headed out to Cape Henlopen State Park and walked up one of the observation towers and around the historic parts from WWII, then down to see the lighthouse. It was low tide and I got some great rocks and pics. We headed back to the house to eat, read, relax, and play Barbies. LOL
In the afternoon we bowled and snacked at Lefty's, and most did the arcade while Aubrey and I took a quick walk over to HomeGoods. Stephen, Dad, and Carol took the kids to the pool while me, MFD, and Aubrey lolled around watching TV and reading.

Sunday we had coffee and bagels and around noon we headed into town to walk around, do the playground and some shops, and have lunch outside. We hit it at the right time because it was chilly by the end! Back to the cars through the troll hole sidewalk. The town is really cute and I love walking around down there. We drove around some of the older houses on the way back to Dad & Carol's and plan to do some wandering around those streets next time we're down. Denny & Fran popped in when we got back and then MFD and I packed up and hit the road. We made it home before 7 and I was in bed by 10.

Another great family weekend in the books! It's always nice to be together and it was great to be outside so much in February, which always feels like a gift. Thanks to Dad & Carol for hosting us!

No three day weekend here, you know the drill.

Snippets of the weekend: 7.18.2022

Friday off after a traumatic and late Thursday night of a snaked drain, poop smell, discovery of a former plumber's left behind snake head and cable in drain pipe, an encounter with princesses on the boardwalk, four hours with a plumber in our small apartment, and Police Academy. Jersey tomato and Italian glaze season (with portobello mushrooms is chef's kiss). Beach day with Kim, Steve, and Libby. Guests left on Friday so we could take our time with turnover. Boardwalk rides and cheesesteaks and goodbyes after a week with a good amount of time together!

For the love of god, as requested in listings and house manual and now on toilets, do not flush wipes. None are flushable in a 122 year old house and actually none are flushable period. Fucked off to the North End. Went under water for the first time in the season. Salads and sofa city at night.
Impromptu trip to Lewes to spend the day with Dad and Carol and Stephen and Aubrey and the kids. Bubbles, water balloon fights, barbies, indoor pool time, said hello to Denny and Fran and Ashley and Jon and the girls, some grape devil drink, salmon and fresh corn from the corn man, no sunset on the way home but a lovely ferry experience anyway, both ways.

In addition to snippets here, I've taken to doing weekending reels on Instagram if you are interested.

TWTW - Cold April

Friday I worked from Philly in the morning and headed to the shore in the afternoon. I was supposed to arrive Thursday night but the weather was armpits for driving. Dead stop traffic twice on the way down had me questioning my decision to drink a bunch of water - which I typically do after a certain point in the trip. I painted my nails in the afternoon - cannot recommend the Mooncat holographic polishes enough. They are insanely cool.
I quick ran to hang the shower curtain and make sure the house was fam/friends acceptable before finishing work and took Bruce and Ben for a beach walk as Melissa and her crew were arriving and unloading. I ate with them and hung out until 11, finally falling out at 12:30. Lots of laughs with one of your oldest friends and her people to end the week, you can't beat it. They brought gifts too, and Billy enjoyed that bag.

Saturday Up at 6:30 to get the dogs walked and fed and get my ass out of the house. I went to see Dad & Carol's new home and town in Lewes, DE, via the ferry. I loved the views at Cape Henlopen State Park. Their house is great too, all set up already and really open. I love it.
They took me around town, which was so cute and very picturesque. I wanted to buy all the antiques. We went out to lunch and for ice cream, to a few local shops and the library, and the tulip celebration was on. I liked it there, can't wait to go back! And I found new beach witch art and got a print. They are picking up another for me this week!
So great to be able to pop over on the ferry for a few hours. The ferry ride back sunset was the stuff of dreams. Melissa's kid crew took care of the dogs while I was gone which was a huge help. When I got back I was dead tired and did my night face routine and got right into bed.

Sunday was windy and cold and gray. WHYYYYYYYYYYY I ended up working most of the day as I am planning to flex that time later this week. I also finished a book, then headed upstairs to eat and hang out until almost 11. On a school night! Who am I.

Happy Monday! Show Us Your Books is tomorrow. Can it also stop being so cold and windy. I'm over it.
