TWTW - the one on the bay

Friday I left my 9-5 and put in work at home as a cook and hausfrau. My groceries were two hours late arriving so I cleaned out my jewelry and changed my organizational system. When they finally arrived, I made meatballs, which you can see below in this very flattering photo, and MFD browned the sweet and hot sausage.
I packed linens, repacked my clothes which I had over-packed earlier in the week, got the dog stuff together, and ran around like a chicken with my head cut off. And I was still ready before MFD on Saturday. So was Mae. I should be used to this after 13 years together. We set off for Ocean City, NJ...twice. Once from home and once from the Wildwood exit off the Parkway to return a key we forgot to return. Derrr.
We eventually landed at our rental on the bay in the Villas for a mini getaway for MFD's birthday. I won't swim here in the bay, but I definitely love the views from the house (and the purple door, of course), which I found on homeaway.com. It is a pain in the ass to find shore rentals that accept dogs. I never care what shore houses look like inside as long as they have a bed, a bath, and are clean. I'm not down there looking for granite counters throughout. I prefer my beach houses a little worn and a little quirky.
I finished the sauce once we got to the house, and we had friends over for dinner. It was a nice night. Other weekend food was very casual. It is the shore, after all.
I took some amateur super moon shots Saturday night. It was pretty cool. Is it just me or are we much more into the moon these days than we've been in the past?
Sunday MFD went fishing with friends and I hung with the dogs all day reading, drinking coffee, and listening to the water hit the shore. It was very enjoyable all around.

And in case you missed it on the IG, Gussie celebrated his 10th birthday on Saturday. He is very pleased with his recent summer travel.

  1. Apparently it was a special moon recently so that's why people have been more into it I think - like it's closer to the Earth in it's orbit right now! Gary read up on it LOL!! SO happy that you guys were able to get away for his birthday and enjoy the shore!! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston

  4. You and MFD are doing weekends right!! Love the moon shots... I agree that it seems like we are more into it. I hope that it's because we're remembering to stop and look around, lol...

  5. Happy Birthday, Gus and MFD! Sara Elizabeth is right...you do weekends right! The bay sounds like Tampa Bay...the sunsets are spectacular, but I don't know if anyone actually swims in it, except maybe for little kids. Everyone goes to the beach. Have a great week!

  6. see, this is why you're better than me. your groceries were late, so instead of sitting on your ass and watching TV you cleaned!! happy b-day to MFD and Gus- so much to celebrate gorgeous shot of the beach- but then again, I'm not surprised!! And moon shots too- i can never get mine to come out.

  7. Just wonderful. Happy you can be there! I am really loving the moons these last few years. Reading about setting intentions at the new moon and all the astrology background. Enjoy the rest of your time there. Love, Your Momma.

  8. Gus Gus! I am obsessed with your dogs. And I've never met them. They just always look like little people (or grumpy old men sometimes) and I love them. :) Happy Monday!

  11. I'm with you... as long as the place is clean, whatever! Esp if you plan on spending the majority of the time outdoors anyway.
Your moon shots turned out sweet!

  15. Looks like another perfect summer weekend for you guys (minus the key incident)! My parents just spent the week at a rental cottage on the beach in Ocean City, and raved about it :)

  16. Yayyy for shore weekends, any view of water is a good view. Bay or ocean I'll take it.

I tried for moon shots but got clouded out. I think I specifically am more into the moon these days because I want a picture of it rising up out of the ocean like the sun does.

  19. The food looks so good! And again even if your groceries relate I'm still super jealous that you get to have groceries delivered all! I can't even get people to deliver pizza where I live!

  20. Nice relaxing vacay and perfect that the rental allowed pets so they could join along. Happy birthday to Gus!

  21. happy birthday to Gus and MFD! That sauce looks amazing, yum. I totally agree about rentals (and hotels) like why does everything need to be fancy? Who cares.

  22. Dogs at the beach makes me smile. What a way for Gus to spend his birthday!

I like moon pictures. I think the moon is very underrated.

  24. Happy Birthday Gus Gus!!!! Such a handsome fellow is he :) It sounds like you had a fabulous weekend!! The shore looks gorgeous. I myself love starring at the moon just as much as the sunrise and sunsets when I am at the beach...or anywhere really. It is incredible to look at when you really think about it.

  25. What a great weekend! You were literally on the beach. I want to stay somewhere like that. At the ocean condo we go to every summer we have to walk through a quarter mile of dunes. Haha!

  26. looks like a great weekend - and you had prime rental location! food looks tasty too!

  27. I love that you have groceries delivered. Our local grocery store is starting this service late 2015/early 2016; I want to try it out.

  28. That chaise or lounge or whatever you'd call it in the bottom right corner on the last collage...that thing...it's perfect for the dogs! From now on, the requirement for a rental should be a bed, a bath, a perfect lounge for the dogs, and clean. Happy birthday to MFD and Gus!

  29. I feel like I'm super late in saying this, but happy belated birthday to MFD and Gus! I love that last picture ... He really does look pleased!
