Seasonal Goals - Summer

Life According to Steph

For the past year or more, Sara and I have done a seasonal goals linkup. This is the last of those for us for differing reasons. Me? I am still assimilating to splitting life at the shore and home - yes, nearly two years later, still assimilating.

Outside of this linkup, I've been on the seasonal goals boat for more than a few years. It started to feel tight to me last year, and it was because my goals are no longer seasonal. Instead of forcing myself to march to the same beat I've always marched to, when things stop working for me, I stop doing them. Hence the end of my seasonal goal setting and, by extension, this linkup. Seasonal goals are dunzo for the moment.

So this is not a summer goals list, but I will report in on how I did on my Spring Goals -

1. Shore work: paint third floor rooms at the shore; replace ground floor porch railings and paint concrete on the porch; paint trim on main floor in house; evaluate air conditioner in the efficiency. DONE. With the addition of replacement of carpet on the third floor and painting trim on the second and third floors in the main house too.

2. Get back to a Monday or Wednesday night zumba class. FAIL. I haven't, and I have no excuse.

3. 30 days of yoga. Done! I shocked myself with this one. Honestly when I made it it was sort of pie in the sky.

4. Check out a new Farmers' Market. Done! Ventnor City so far in the spring, more to come in the summer.

5. Go through clothes and get rid of anything I didn't wear this winter. I did this, but I feel the need to do it again. I don't think I was as heartless as I needed to be.

This summer, my main goal is to learn how to take a nap without waking up with the attitude of a hellbeast troll. What's on your summer agenda?

Spring Goals 2017

Life According to Steph
Top o' the morning to you. Happy Saint Patrick's Day. And happy birthday to my Grandmom, who is no longer with us. I miss celebrating our birthdays together!

Today is spring goals day since spring starts on Monday even though there are massive piles of frozen snow and many streets down a lane or two still here in Philly. I'm not a winter hater, but I prefer my winter in January and February. March, not so much.

I've been doing seasonal goals for a few years. The past two seasons I am feeling a little blah with this system, so I'm going to see how it goes and if I need to change it up.

1. Shore work: paint third floor rooms at the shore; replace ground floor porch railings and paint concrete on the porch; paint trim on main floor in house; evaluate air conditioner in the efficiency.

2. Get back to a Monday or Wednesday night zumba class.

3. 30 days of yoga.

4. Check out a new Farmers' Market.

5. Go through clothes and get rid of anything I didn't wear this winter.

Any goals for spring?

Spring goal report

I was supposed to report in on this this weekend, and I didn't. Probably because honestly? There's not much to report. This was partly a case of missing motivation and shifting priorities. When it came down to it, I didn't care much to complete any of these. Good thing they weren't really necessary because that's exactly what I did - leave them as they were. LOL

1. Go whale watching. Newp.

2. Attend high tea. No.

3. Begin learning conversational French. Yes! I got my CDs and books and have started.

4. Visit the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Nope. Moved this to summer and made it the sculpture garden.

5. Go strawberry picking and make a strawberry pie. This has been on my goal list for years and I never do it. Do I even want to go strawberry picking? No. This is the last year it will appear. I went when I was little. That will suffice.

6. Run through a timed cleaning of the shore house a few times and be sure I can get it done in two hours so I'm prepared for rental switchovers on the Saturdays I'll be cleaning it. Done, but having it cleaned every week in case I can't be there. And when I am, I can deal with the outside areas.

7. Improve my home improvement skills. I'd say overall yes, but I still need to learn many more things.

8. Check out the Chinese Lanterns in Franklin Square. Done.

9. Wear bracelets every weekday and photograph for proof. I have a lot and I typically only wear them if I'm going somewhere. I was absolutely on this the first two weeks. Then totally not on it. But I have been better overall so I'm going to give it a half pass.

10. Easter Sunrise on the beach. Nope. It was gray in the morning. I've seen many others though, so I'm good.

If you missed my summer goals, you can see them here.

Spring Goals - How Did I Do?

1. Raise money for March for Babies for the March of Dimes. I raised $175 and team Eva the Diva as a whole raised over $2100 to support March of Dimes research and programs that help moms have full-term pregnancies and babies begin healthy lives. Thank you so much to my donors: Mom, Mare, Sister Arleen, and Heather!

2. Further pare down my wardrobe when I switch over my summer and winter clothes. There are a ton of shoes that must go. Dunzo. I donated three bags of clothes and shoes to Goodwill and a few boxes of other items.

3. When Lent is over and I've completed my 46 days in a row of 40 minutes of exercise or more a day, formulate another plan and stick to it. Done. I've been doing weights Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and walking two other days. I'm also cognizant of being more active in general on the weekends although those are typically active rest days. Now it's just something I do. I'm happy with it and feeling stronger and healthier. Slow and steady.

4. Pantry and freezer clean out - use or toss. The time is now. I worked on this throughout May. The first week in June was my last cleanout week.

5. Canoe. Done on Memorial Day weekend. Thanks Jack!
6. Yard and flower bed cleanup and flowerbed planting. Done, although I did a shitty job on the yard cleanup.

7. Check out the Before I Die Board on Broad Street. I walked down there but it's no longer there. So fail but good try.

8. Try two new restaurants. The Kite and the Key on April 29. Tacconelli's on March 22.

9. Go strawberry picking. I think this is on my list every year. I never do it. Fail.

10. Spend the morning in New Hope. I ran out of time for this one too. Fail.

Did you set spring goals? How did you do?

Spring Goals

Happy Friday! Even though snow is in today's forecast, according to the calendar it's the first day of spring which means it's time for me to share my seasonal goals with you. Here are some things I hope to accomplish this spring:

1. Raise money for March for Babies for the March of Dimes. I'm walking on Team Eva the Diva on April 26. Click here if you'd like to donate. Your gift will support March of Dimes research and programs that help moms have full-term pregnancies and babies begin healthy lives. And it will be used to bring comfort and information to families with a baby in newborn intensive care, like Eva was.
