snippets of the weekend 10.23.2023

Cousins weekend! Amazing light on Friday night. Everyone trickled in and got settled, and Stephen & Aub made dinner for everyone. Phillies loss but fun to watch
Saturday we ate Courtney's sausage balls for breakfast that were amazing, and trickled out to the boards for a walk, some arcade, saw Santa and dogs in costumes, Brandon bought everyone pizzas for lunch, and back to the house to eat and relax.
We went out again, me and Mike to the beach and some folks to the not very good Howloween parade,
before reconvening for dinner made by Stephen & Aub again, parlay, Phillies win probably due to our superstitions - good vibes helmets, Tommy in the kitchen, etc.
Sunday everyone was gone by 1 and I lay around with my teeth in my mouth for the rest of the day as I spent all of my social capital and was rendered mute.

I'm glad we made this weekend happen spread across states and ages! It was nice. Missed Tracy & fam and Gabby!

Snippets of the weekend 10.16.2023

Friday I did school dropoff and pickup for my niece and nephew, with showering and a work trip to Swarthmore in between. I browsed my work BFF's favorite store for a magic pin and some other treasures, and she gave me my birthday gift. After school pickup we went to the Halloween store, and to Friendly's for dinner, back to my house to watch a movie, then on home to theirs.
Saturday was lounging, laundry, lazy because it was raining. It cleared up in time for Brenna & Nick's wedding sail on the Delaware. Loved the costume party and the super cool skull thing they made themselves! I got zero photos of them aside from one on the table. It was nice to see everyone.
Mrs. Roper era in full effect.
Good times and home by 11!
Sunday I was back in Old City to pick a few things up from my office before heading home to clear surfaces in the kitchen and dining room, cut up veggies, and lounge and read.

snippets of the weekend 8.28.2023

Friday we finally went to lunch, which I've been wanting to do for months. It was a cluster with no money for tip and no MAC cards and we had to go back twice LOL. But it was good! Solid weather day. I strolled Asbury for a bit after while MFD drove home to get the forgotten MAC card and cash. An afternoon layabout and reading, and an evening walk down to the bay rounded it out.
Saturday was our last official summer season checkout (two rentals in Sept) and we were the cleaners. Friends, it was a fucking crime scene. The End. Fam arrived as we were finishing up. Tomato sandwiches and beach soon after.
Sunday I did some walking chores to the hardware and corner store, and it was a slow and easy start. An earlier beach day, a delicious Sunday dinner a la Mindy and Maureen with lovely company of Patty and Ray, and a ride down Ocean Drive with views of our wedding spot clear as day from the bridge.

The destination was Sea Isle, where we remembered my mother in law in the place she loved the best, where we all spent a lot of time with her. Her best friend supplied the roses and bubbles, and it was a beautiful night.

We were treated to a gorgeous sunset on the way home, and we closed out the day with ice cream cake from A La Mode for Aly's 18th. Happy birthday Aly!

snippets of the weekend 6.26.2023

Friday monthly wellness with Sarah at Blossom Massage & Bodywork, a dash to Giant in the rain for some produce, working until 8, and zoning the F out in a muu muu from then on and getting in bed early with a book.
Saturday I painted my nails (poor choice of colors this weekend), went to Brenna's bridal shower at Georgine's and caught up with the fam on MFD's side, then came home and did some returns, made an egg bake, packed up and headed to the shore around 7:30. I drove on 95!
Sunday I spent some time on the beach in the morning, read on the couch in the afternoon, did a Target pickup, walked a lot, and we went up to the boardwalk for ice cream and people watching. It was a good day.

snippets of the weekend 6.12.2023

I picked Mindy up late on Thursday afternoon and we took the back way to the shore. Pizza, grocery store, settling in, and then working from 7:30-11.

Friday I worked in the morning then Sarah and I went on a few errands including Tuckahoe Cheesecakes. The carrot cake is my favorite anywhere, first had it for Drew's birthday a few years ago. I also got new Maui Jims sunglasses from Island Beach Gear. I finished work around 3 and relaxed in the driveway giving myself an orange ombre manicure (OPI My Chihuahua Doesn't Bite Anymore, OPI Silicon Valley Girl, and Zoya Sawyer annnnd repeat - this is a favorite and the Simple Modern cup matching is chef's kiss). We had tacos for dinner and sang to June birthdays Maureen & Marcus.

Saturday I painted a side table (All in One Paint in Naples) - nothing like waiting until the literal last possible time before the season to do that - and repainted my peeling peace sign in Krylon gloss blue hyacinth and put them on the porch to dry while I walked the dogs and headed to the beach to meet up with the kids.
It was a beaut at the beach, and I got a new Farm Stand salad for lunch and lingered late reading and watching a bunch of dolphins play in front of our beach - like full jumping out of the water. It was rad. nature is rad. Boat people came down in the afternoon and it was a nice day.
Mark manned the grill for hotdogs and hamburgers and Aunt Jean came over for a visit too. We headed up to the boardwalk for a bit and did a lot of driveway hanging. It was a great, full day and I fell out exhausted.

I took like no photos and only video Sunday. I put a coat of poly on the table for upstairs, got a pepperoni & provolone bagel from Wawa, and made it to the beach for a while. Before we left I did some house sorting then left it to Mark and Sarah with final MFD work Monday before our guests checked in and took the back way home with Mindy, Drew, and the dogs who were totally assed out exhausted after playing with Harry and Finn. The back way is nice but this time we took it because 95 collapsed in the morning LOL

Fun fam weekend! We missed Jax but hopefully he can make it when we reconvene in August!

snippets of the weekend 6.6.2023

Friday I meant to be finished by 3 and out running errands and doing some stuff up in the house before family arrived but alas I worked until fucking 7 and the thing I spent the five hours on never ended up being used but it's FINE. It's fucking fine. Jared arrived first, followed close behind by Dad & Carol then Stephen & Aubrey and the kids, little Stephen fresh off his pre-K grad. We missed the window to order dinner from anywhere and everywhere and ended up at Wawa.

Saturday was cold AF! Dad & Carol made a big breakfast with an assist from Lola and we hit the boards, spending time in the arcade and at Wonderland when it opened. Hoo the final stretch walk down to Wonderland I was so fucking cold with the wind.  We saw some dog wedding guests on the way back. We tried Outer Banks Boil for dinner and it was good!
Sunday was my brother's 40th. Him and my Dad & Jared left early for golf. Aubrey really outdid herself with the decor inside and out, so good. Carol got the coozies with a great photo. Lola, Carol, and I went and got Nauti Donuts. We packed sandwiches for the beach and it is decided I am not a good kid sandwich maker crust cutter offer. When they returned from golf we went to the beach for the afternoon. Taco extravaganza for dinner and strawberry pie for birthday singing.

Monday I was off except I had a meeting in the afternoon. Girls hit Asbury to shop then we went to the beach - perfect beach day! Aubrey, Stephen, the kids, and Jared all left. We went and got slices from Angelo's and ice cream.

Yesterday was my BFF Kim's birthday - happy happy! Love you!

Today I looked for shore replacement dining furniture on SunPan, researched a moving company for work, and checked out some branding stuff on Ignite Digital. And packed up to return to Philly for a bit.

snippets of the weekend 2.20.2023

Friday I painted my nails at lunch and worked until just after 3. We headed to Dad & Carol's in rain and holiday weekend traffic, coming through at the right time to see a magnificent on the road sunset. We were welcomed to our B&B with pillow candy and signage. Carol had pulled pork and salad and snacks out. Stephen & Aubrey and the kids arrived soon after us. We were all up Saturday morning by 7 for Lola's pancakes.
We headed out to Cape Henlopen State Park and walked up one of the observation towers and around the historic parts from WWII, then down to see the lighthouse. It was low tide and I got some great rocks and pics. We headed back to the house to eat, read, relax, and play Barbies. LOL
In the afternoon we bowled and snacked at Lefty's, and most did the arcade while Aubrey and I took a quick walk over to HomeGoods. Stephen, Dad, and Carol took the kids to the pool while me, MFD, and Aubrey lolled around watching TV and reading.

Sunday we had coffee and bagels and around noon we headed into town to walk around, do the playground and some shops, and have lunch outside. We hit it at the right time because it was chilly by the end! Back to the cars through the troll hole sidewalk. The town is really cute and I love walking around down there. We drove around some of the older houses on the way back to Dad & Carol's and plan to do some wandering around those streets next time we're down. Denny & Fran popped in when we got back and then MFD and I packed up and hit the road. We made it home before 7 and I was in bed by 10.

Another great family weekend in the books! It's always nice to be together and it was great to be outside so much in February, which always feels like a gift. Thanks to Dad & Carol for hosting us!

No three day weekend here, you know the drill.

Friday Files 2.17.2023

This week has been like a grown up obstacle course personally and professionally. TGIF

New exterior front and back storm doors in Philly FINALLY installed on Wednesday. If you are in Northeast Philly I highly recommend Gallagher Brothers - they know what they're doing both in measurement/styling your new doors with you and in installation. I got these factory painted which is not what I've done at the shore - I painted all of those myself. These doors have needed replacing for years - the back door could have been broken down in a second and the storm door back there was literally held together with a zip tie - but they are so fucking expensive for quality doors. We did all of them at the shore over a two year period as well and I wish they told you when you were growing up how much shit like this would cost because I swear I thought this was a small/cheap home improvement project and it is absolutely fucking not. Back to a yellow door up front - gere are shitty befores & afters  - the manufacturer has to come replace the screen part of the storm door because it's off as you can sort of see here:
but no befores of the back because they arrived and started that immediately and I refuse to ask people to stop working so I can take a before photo. I wish I had them as the exterior door was peeling on the outside, like wood curling up, and the entire frame was fucked with busted locks etc, and the screen door was circa early 1970s, handle-less at this point, and held in place with a fucking zip tie as a latch LOLOL
People who know about our key fuckery will be pleased to find that we are using keypads now which will hopefully cut down on being locked out.

New couches were delivered at the shore yesterday  as well because yes let’s schedule two anxiety-producing items back to back. They had to be hoisted over the railing and the door removed but they are in! MFD took one for the team to go and be there for this since the door had to be taken off. Big Wally's Furniture and my old friend Billy D are awesome.
Floors in two weeks, and I need to address a pipe issue in March then the big things are done for the year at the shore. After that we're about caught up in both houses for things we had planned to do pre-Covid that got pushed off due to lack of availability of supplies or folks doing the work we needed being well jammed up schedule-wise with the exception of basement ceiling in Philly and starting the process to get quotes for windows here.

Pets of the week. Billy Hicks spent a day in my home office this week, which he rarely visits during the day.
I was in my office Wednesday and I absolutely love being in Old City.

I was very happy to see AEB for a quick coffee when I was In the city - we haven’t seen each other since pre-Covid! Excuse the wind tunnel, it was wild on Wednesday.

My uncle and I got to see my cousin and her boyfriend Monday as they were in from Chicago

I hit the meat markdown day at the grocery store and got over $52 of meat to freeze for just over $24. Peak adult shit there.

One of the best batches of mashed potatoes I’ve ever made.
This is an entire fucking disgrace. Fuck Joe Biden (see how easy that is to say, Go Brandon people?) for intervening in favor of corporations to divert a strike and fuck all the politicians on both sides who supported that. Sacrificing people's lives and the environment so corporations can rack up money for the rich to get richer. What a fucking joke. Another de-railment outside of Detroit yesterday too.

I try to hang in with crew neck tees and I end up cutting them all at the neck. Let me be freeeee

That's that about that for this week. Have a great weekend, it's a long one for a lot of you! Not here, ever.
