Project 52 - Q2

Back in the beginning of January, I talked about doing a Project 52 - one photo a week. You can see that post here and you can see Project 52 - First Quarter photos here.

Instead of choosing an overall theme for the year, I just picked photos taken on Thursday. Every Thursday for the 52 weeks of the year, I set aside a photo I've taken in a folder. Aside from the first one, no other photos have been shared anywhere. Here are my pictures from Thursdays throughout the first quarter.

A P R I L
April 2 - LOVE Park fountain before it was filled for the season / April 9 - Walking back to my car after getting off the train / April 16 - Cool white bark trees on my way to the library / April 23 - With my hairstylist and good friend who takes weird squatting photos with me without batting an eye / April 30 - Big old bust of Ben Franklin in Girard Fountain Park in Old City

M A Y
May 7 - Pay phone near my office / May 14 - Exterior of the Academy of Natural Sciences / May 21 - The Book Corner / May 28 - I think this is the corner of 17th & Locust. I like the chandelier and the reflection in the window.

J U N E
June 4 - Loved the hashtag / June 11 - Logan Square / June 18 - Windows at Alma de Cuba / June 25 - Geege letting me know it's time to eat

Peace out, cub scout. Enjoy your weekend. It is the last one in June, after all.

Project 52 - First Quarter

Back in the beginning of January, I talked about doing a project 52 - one photo a week. You can see that post here. I'm happy I'm still doing everything in that post except #2, it would suck to reference it and have crashed and burned on all of it. hahaha

J a n u a r y
January 1 - New Year's Day Mummers Parade at City Hall / January 8 - Text from Amy Poehler's book / January 15 - What happens when it's Thursday night and you forget to take a photo / January 22 - Winter footprints / January 29 - I fell asleep across the bed on top of the covers at 6:30 p.m. This was taken right before that.

F e b r u a r y
February 5 - MFD's new ride / February 12 - Shakespeare statue outside of the Philadelphia Free Library Parkway Central branch / February 19 - When it's so cold that you don't give a crap what matches, you just wear all the warmest things / February 26 - Winter feelings by the end of February

M a r c h
March 5 - Our boys are getting old & Gus needs to be carried a lot / March 12 - What goes on behind the library / March 19 - Blue skies have been few and far between. Reflections in the Comcast building / March 26 - The only good thing here is the Totes Clear Bubble Umbrella, absolutely necessary for traversing the city in the rain. Otherwise, it's raining and I'm heading to the dentist.

I'll share again at the end of Q2. I often find myself hoping I see something cool on Thursdays only to end up taking photos of things that are just daily real life stuff. I like both options.

Happy weekend!

In with the new

I'm not a resolution maker, because I forget about them by February at the latest. Seasonal goals suit me best, and if you missed it, here's what I'm working on this winter.

That's not to say I don't like to start new things and challenges, because I do. Not just in January, but whenever the mood hits me. This month, here's what I'm working on:

1. Project 52 - I'm no good at photo-a-day challenges even though I take a foolish amount of photos all the damn time. So there's no way in hell I'd succeed at a 365 photo-a-day challenge. Sometimes I think prompts paralyze me and I focus on the prompt so much that I stage it instead of coming across it, which doesn't really suit me. This year, I'm doing a Project 52, which I'll share twice - once at mid year and once at year end. I'll choose a photo from every Thursday to share. Some will be mundane things like dinner or something I've come across that day, and some will naturally be vacation photos and other things that are a little more exciting.

2. Juicing - I've long crapped on juices and smoothies as things I don't like. I'm going to branch out and try to juice some healthy shit in our new Ninja. If it's good, I'll share the recipes. If it's bad I'll tell you to stay away from them.

3. Pantry clean out - I'm full to the gills in the pantry and freezer. Time to use what I have instead of buying more to make recipes that catch my fancy.

4. Activity - I let lazy win in November and December. I was escalating instead of doing the stairs, parking as close as possible, short cutting through the city on errands. I need to increase my activity.

5. Reading - Last year I read 64 books. My 2015 Goodreads Challenge is 60 books. I'll be sharing my most recent reads this Tuesday, January 13, for the next Show Us Your Books link up. I hope you will too.

Things I'm not doing: running anywhere, ever, or giving up coffee.

Last night when it was a windchill of 8 outside, our heater went on the fritz. Good timing, no? No. We have a home warranty and I called at 10 last night and got on the please help me list. Sleeping was quite comfortable, but the main floor is not...it was a balmy 46 degrees this morning. Regardless, it could be worse. We could have no shelter AND no heat. Still hoping for a quick fix but happy to have warm blankets and layers at our disposal.

What's new in your world this month?
