Thursday Thoughts - I'm livin' life, do or die, what can I say

You're late.

Farewell, faithful lipstick. Always have a backup of a favorite, of course. This is Bobbi Brown Crushed Lipstick in lilac, one of my staples
Lunch trips. I went to Bristol one day this week to peruse some antiques shops and walk along the river. I used to go there with Mom Mom when I was little, to Ballow's shoes. Lovely memories, and a lovely lunch outing.

Vats of veggie meat sauce. I made what amounted to 15 jars to freeze and share (the bigger one has six cups instead of three).

Hurricane Ian. Good thoughts to the folks in FL and others in its path of destruction. Climate action now. These events are just going to continue to increase in power and devastation if we carry on as we are.

Splitskies. Billy wanted to go in on my niece's birthday gift

Halloween is here. Thanks to MFD's decor. The dogs are not pleased that their barking window is occupied.
Bathroom reno still happening. Still living in an entire construction zone with shit on every level.

Bailed on the Dahmer show on Netflix. Too creepy for me.

Bruce is a big baby.

Amen.

Fresh hair. Thanks Kristi! Love it as always.

Miscellaneous pics from the week the bottom right is actually my back window with that reflected in it

Happy birthday to my cousin Tyler today!

Snippets of the weekend 8.8.2022

Half at the shore, half in Philly. A quick hour on the beach after work. Cleaning and organizing our apartment. Walkable errands on Friday night, which are my favorite kind of errands. Contact paper project on our dresser. Tried the ice cream taco at Aloha (eh). Tomato sandwich season.

A hug with Jenny & Evan and the kids before they left town Saturday. An appointment for a window and door quote. An easy turnover with a house left in good shape so I could focus on some of the other things that are extra or that MFD typically does - cleaning window AC filters, vacuuming the porch rug, changing porch cushions, reorganizing linens, changing out bed pillows that have gone flat or lumpy. Catching up with neighbors about a fall project we're doing that will impact them. Catching up with incoming guests who have been with us for years and are some of our favorites.

Saturday afternoon on the beach followed by an easy drive back to Philly, sushi pickup, and The Offer on Paramount+.

Sunday morning puttering. Painting my nails with something other than a nail restorer for the first time in weeks after the gel manicure from hell. Brunch in the city with Chris & Diana at The Dandelion

Pedicure at Sweetie's Nails (OPI Purple Palazzo Pants) in one of the many dying strip malls around. Power Breakfast Muffins to freeze.

In addition to snippets here, I've taken to doing weekending reels on Instagram if you are interested.

Thursday Thoughts - Within the glow that weaves a cloak of delight there moves a thread that has no end

Forever mood in tee form from yesterday
Forever mood in mug form from Tuesday
Forever mood in regards to Confederate flag and pride
Recommend: Colored Girls Bike Too doing work on the ground in Buffalo after the murder of Black people grocery shopping last week. Access their white supremacy culture resources here. We can either get comfortable being uncomfortable as we sit in the tension to destroy this or we can support white supremacy and racism. Those are the only two choices

Recommend: deprogramming and civics/government education. These people are from absolute hell and care not a fucking whit about what they have convinced you they care about. If you say anything like "Biden's FDA" you do not know not who is responsible for what in government and what actual agencies like FDA have domain over.
Recommend: bar keeper's friend for so many things. This was rust on a tile floor.
I'm partial to this photo from last weekend.
Partial to purple too, as you can see.
Voters gotta vote. Turnout in the PA primary tells me people don't know we're sliding into fascism or do not care, which is going to be a shame when we are fully there. The Republican candidate for governor is for treasonous overthrowing of elections, suppressing the vote, and banning abortion. Why in the shit fuck would anyone vote for anyone of any party who has proven they would not accept the result of democratic elections? Do the recount or whatever, but if ya lose ya lose. Fascist treasonous anti-American anti-Democratic fucks who participate in stop the steal chicanery should not hold government office. For that reason and others, we'd all better vote for the democrat candidate Josh Shapiro, who is honestly republican lite in many ways but will absolutely safeguard the right to abortions. Abortion is healthcare and it is a private matter. If you don't agree with abortion don't get one, but stay out of other people's bodies. No matter who is the republican Senate candidate, the choice is Fetterman. He's not endorsed by democrat politicians because he's not establishment, he's for the people. Republicans allegedly value that so place that value in the box in the form of your vote for Fetterman in the November election.
Pet pics of the week. It's the Billy and Ben show. This is why we will spend time and money tracking down a no longer sold BarkBox sheep. He got one from Treat Lady and I got him a backup. How cute is this. Ben also matches my car perfectly. The outside is white and the inside is Ben colored.
Huge congrats to our friend Frank who got his masters in Ed from Rutgers this week. You all know Frank from his annual birthday blogs in July, of course. Frank is going to kill it as an elementary school teacher!

Happy birthday to Laura's MBD tomorrow!

Second girls weekend this weekend with my original met you on the Internet friends of about 22 years now. Out of office tomorrow! Second four day work week in a row.

Friday Five: things from this week that are not related to Fascism

Happy Friday! Dismal as the weather is here in the Philadelphia area.

I typically drop this stuff in Thursday Thoughts, but yesterday was for fascism.

Fascism. Fascist. The words never look like they're spelled correctly. Probably because the words, what they mean, and the people urging us quickly into them are abhorrent and the mind does not want to retain it.

ANYWAY this is for not fascist shit. This is for the life things.

Like Billycat's first birthday, and pets in birthday hats.
And amazing art Carol & Dad tracked down and bought for me from a local DE artist. This speaks to me and I love it so much. Cannot wait for girls weekend next week.
And skies.

And shore chores like stripping every blessed piece of bedding and having it laundered, getting rid of a box spring, cleaning under beds, swapping mirrors, getting paint for the powder room and touch ups, fixing the freaking towel rack, swapping the living room rug, and hunting for new hardware.
Schnoozy days. Evening trips to dog beach. Eating jelly beans like an orderly psycho. Tiny treasures. Cat guards. Running all necessary errands and encountering gross shit. Do not litter outside or inside!

Good thoughts and love to Aunt Maureen and her kids and grands. MFD's uncle died of pancreatic cancer this week, very unexpectedly, very quickly, and very young. That's one to pancreatic cancer on my side with my Grandmom and one on his with Uncle Matt. Painful, silent, deadly. Just a terrible disease.

Live fully now, hug people, love people, and have a good weekend. Stay dry out there fellow Mid-Atlantic folks.

Happy Mother's Day to all moms and extra love to anyone who struggles with Mother's Day.

Thursday Thoughts - are you really gonna talk about timing in times like these?

Big sea glass score. I was a troll under the bridge, literally, collecting this.
Good views while doing it.
Sometimes I like graffiti.
Excuse me sir, is this in reference to the 2016 election? If so hard agree but also why the z. Sitting members of Congress who supported an insurrection had better be dealt with.
If we were raising hands, mine would be up.

Combining errands. I've long done this - with Earth Day approaching Friday it's a good time to re-share this post. Anyhoo combining errands saves time and everything is done at once, but it is tiring. Last night I drug my ass to return some Amazon shit I've been sitting on, to pick up a new mirror for the shore from Marshalls (got it, but not in love with it, so it's a placeholder for right now, and looking back at a photo I think I should have gotten the below instead so will obvi be going back), then to pick up an order at Target.
Ruminating on this. It’s an excerpt from an interview Maya Angelou gave to The Paris Review in 1990.

Solo with Billy cat. MFD took the dogs to Philly Monday and I went back yesterday. This cat pulled all the treats and food out of a freaking armoire.
Two weeks of laundry.  More than two? Possible. The hot water heater in Philly was replaced yesterday, now just two weeks of laundry to do tonight since I'm headed back to the shore tomorrow and I am in the office today. At least it’s not raining like it has two out of the last three times I’ve been here.

Thursday Thoughts - I can cut the lawn, cut my hair, cut out my cholesterol

Scored a dresser for the shore house on Freecycle. Freecycle is king at the shore as we ramp up to rental season. I probably will not paint it (this year at least), but may change the hardware. I'm pumped, this was one of my few remaining want to dos before the season.
Forgotten annoyance. It's been a while, since 2019 or 2018, that I had someone cancel a week at the shore for no reason after they booked. I have one house and an 11 week season. If you sit on one of my weeks as claimed for six months and cancel, it is absolutely not the same as cancelling at a hotel. It re-booked but come on, dudes.

Put lipstick on a pig bathroom almost finished. We just need a bar for the back wall that I'll put baskets on. This is how it looked when we bought the house and as we were taking down the top wall covering in 2020:
In 2021 MFD changed the top half of the walls.
This year we had the wall tiles and ceiling painted, I painted the floor, and we replaced the toilet and the light fixture. I just need to find a replacement bar that I can hang baskets from for TP, etc

Bay walks are back. I usually avoid them in the winter, for no reason.

Radishes in the air fryer. Olive oil, garlic powder, onion salt, salt. Preheat for 5, cook for 15. Radishes are too much for me raw but I love them like this. It changes the taste completely.

Flex time on nice days. Good times with Melissa and her crew this week, I grabbed a few hours out with them in the afternoon Tuesday before they left and worked at night since I was solo. I appreciate having the ability to work when it is best for me if there are no meetings.
Unexpected work by the water company. I was out front at 7 yesterday on no coffee pushing down my White Ladies Wilding Out as the workers are not the ones responsible for not telling me this was happening. They will have to come back at some point and restore curbs and cement so we're not finished.
New coworker. Billy is into my shore setup now.
Cute Easter bag from Carol. Cracked into her homemade candy eggs too - coconut creme for MFD, buttercream for me, PB for both.

Mom and Rich arrive today, family weekend down this way. Hope you enjoy yours! Happy Passover and Happy Easter and if neither applies, happy weekend!
