The January Seven

Like Jane Eyre, I can tire of the routine of eight years in one afternoon.

I don't believe in doing something I've always done simply because I've always done it. If something stops working, I stop doing it or change how I'm doing it. Habits are good until you forget why you started doing it in the first place.

I used to make yearly goals. When that stopped fitting, I went to monthly goals. When that stopped fitting, I made quarterly goals. When that stopped fitting, I dropped the goals. That has stopped fitting, so I'm back to monthly goals with parameters for 2018. It took me a while to figure out what I wanted the parameters to be this year. I cane up with two areas of focus and five directives.

Here are January's. Obviously I'm not limited to these things, but these are the things I am focusing on with intention this month. I'll post my seven in the beginning of the month then go back and update that same post after the month is over for personal tracking purposes. I'm not posting this shit for people to read in two separate posts, that's boring as fuck. I'll link back to the original post in a Thursday Thoughts if anyone cares how I did.

Wellness - this is mind/body/spirit so some things on here in coming months may seem weird to you and if that's the case then it is something for my spirit lol
1. Chiro 1/16
2. Squats every time I go to the bathroom I did this for half the month then stopped.
3. 100 ounces of water/day Yes! And I feel one zillion times better.
4. Walk Bruce Weather permitting, yes
5. Morning & evening skin care like an adult instead of a dirty child person 100% in the morning, better in the evening than I was previously, so a cautious win

Community - not just my neighborhood, but the world around me, causes I support, etc. This header was involvement for a long time, and then it was improvement, but the goal of anything I involve myself in is to improve my community so I settled on community. Sometimes this will be close and personal and sometimes it won't be.
1. Donate to Juntos 1/15
2. Attend meeting to oppose ICE raids 1/22
3. Women's March in Philly & rally in Doylestown 1/20 and 1/21
4. Meet the Candidate John Fetterman Event 1/27
5. Comfort packs for homeless in Suburban Station twice this month only did this once on 1/23, handed out 10 packs and 10 DD gift cards.

  1. I'm with you on less mindless scrolling and have even been leaving my phone in the bedroom when I'm in the living room to give myself a break! xo,Biana-BlovedBoston

  2. I’m trying to get back to drinking 100oz of water a day again. When I get ‘busy’ I tend to forget to drink and then it’s the end of the day and I’m parched.

I’m closing our local march! I’m wavering between getting the guts to stand up and just say thanks for coming and actually saying something substantial. I’m fairly certain my bit will be somewhere in between those. I’m just hoping I am coherent. Public speaking is not my thing! Definitely pushing myself to do new and uncomfortable things this year.

  3. Let me know what you need for comfort packs. I want to help via you. Broken hearts on the ICE raids. My least favorite emoji these days. Lol like a dirty child. Goddess speed on all of this.
Love and lights and angels to all. Extra to those in need. Love. Your. Momma.

  5. I so need to drink more water ... and not count the kind that's been brewed with coffee beans. Just straight up water. I think that's one of the reasons my skin is horrible right now -- need to hydrate/moisturize from the inside.

  6. I'm a dirty child person. Hahaha. I always start the day with a clean face, but evenings are hard...
I need to drink more water, too. BLEHHH.

  8. LOL at dirty child person, that would be me! I really need to step up my skincare routine. And I love your outlook on goals, change as needed.

  10. I have the adult skin care as a routine goal as well. Dating has caused me to act like a dirty child. I decided to make room for both the man and the nightly dance of clean tone and stop the aging process cream! I hope you meet all of these goals.

  11. I like monthly goals too--the yearly ones just get lost sometimes for me. I need a new coat too, maybe I need to make that a goal. I love the more/less idea too!

  12. YES to stopping mindless scrolling. I AM TERRIBLE WITH THIS. It's one thing when I take the train home from work and I review all the social media stuff I missed throughout the day, but then I do it 600 more times when I get home, AND when I'm watching something on TV. I need to learn to put the phone down and take something else in. Fully.

  13. I like the way you're approaching this. Mindless scrolling was big on my "knock it off" list this week. I deleted Facebook from my phone because I find no enjoyment in scrolling. At least with Twitter and the Gram, I participate.

  14. I think this is a great way to set them up - and I will totally check back for the updates, I love that stuff.
Will Camp Bow Wow have photos?! I want to see!

  15. I'm back to monthly goals too. And I had just started being a non-dirty child person, but I think my eye had a reaction to my new sensitive skin moisturizer so that's on hold until it gets less like Quasimodo and back to normal. Once a month photos of what?

  16. Camp Bow Wow lol. Probably necessary.

Ugh, the mindless scrolling. I waste so much time.

  17. I do WAY too much mindless scrolling... working on fixing that.
I feel like I have always been a non-dirty child person. Not sure if it will ever be fixed.
    Bathroom squats... jolly good idea!

still working hard on the no sugar/no alcohol goal
    purging is never ending

  18. So how did the Bow Wow interview go? Will we need to invoke legacy status? So many questions. lol.
