10 things I don’t wear

Face makeup. Or makeup in general really. I don’t own any face makeup. I had some it CC cream but tossed it after using it twice in a year. When you see a photo of me, assume I am wearing no makeup. A full face of makeup at this point in my life is under eye concealer, mascara, and lip something but most days it’s only lip something. I wore makeup more when I was younger and it would seem that it should be the reverse, but what can I tell you. It's not. I like makeup and admire the hell out of my skillful with makeup friends but I have finally accepted that I am a get up and go girl and that is not going to change. I am impatient and hate wasting time getting ready. Which brings me to...

Hair products.  Also, my hair is never blow dried because I don't own a blow dryer and even when I did I did not use it. Same goes for hair products. MFD owns and uses both.

Filters. I feel weird using a filter on a photo on any platform because then when you see me in real life you're like what the hell happened to you? What you see is what you get.

Aviators.

Sunglasses that don’t cover my eyebrows. I have a thing about it. I recently learned Aub has a thing about it also.

Headbands. I love them, they look terrible on me. I wear the cotton ones, mostly on the beach to keep the wispy hairs from blowing in my face and annoying the hell out of me but the traditional headband looks really weird on me.

Wedding rings. I go through stages. I haven’t worn them for months. That could change tomorrow or I could never wear them again. I don’t wear any of the rings I got married with - I rotate a few under $40 rings.

White pants, shorts, or dresses.

Jeans. I don’t own a pair. I do have a pair of jeggings.

Clothes free of dog hair. Even when I'm away, I bring it with me.

See also: heels, a good poker face, and lots of different jewelry (have it, love it, don’t wear it).

What are some things you don't wear?

Oh, and an I Voted sticker...only because I never get one. I always vote, I've never missed. Today is PA's primary. How are you getting to the polls? Walking, biking, public transport, driving, car pool?

If you need to know where your polling place is or what questions are on the ballot or your voting rights, check out Committee of Seventy's page. If that doesn't have information for your area, let me know and I'll find you a resource. And if you are in the 170th district, please vote for Mike Doyle for PA!

And finally happy birthday to my friend Jenn today!!

  1. Bikinis
    High heels
    Make up
    Leggings
These items and I don’t get along so I don’t wear them. More power to you if you can pull them off.

  2. I'm totally going to copy this post. I think it tells you a lot about a person.

I do not wear excessive jewelry. While it's pretty and it can look nice to accessorize, I find it's just one more thing to take off at the end of the day when I pull off the clothes that smell like school. Also, I've found that I have a low tolerance for anything slightly uncomfortable when it comes to shoes, pants, shirts since being pregnant. Might as well be comfortable.

  3. What do you wear on jeans Friday at work?

I went without makeup most of our Greece vacation and it felt SO GOOD. Trying to do it more often in "real life"

  4. I VERY rarely wear make-up... and when I do it's mascara, maybe eyeliner, & maybe eye shadow. That's all very rare though. I use hair products even less. 99% of the time it's just wash & air dry. I'd like to say that this is all because it's better for my hair/skin. In reality it's because I'm lazy & never cared enough to learn how to do awesome hair or make up.

  5. I dont wear a full fake of makeup either, unless I'm going out on a date or something special. And you will rarely see me in heels. They aren't comfortable and I just hate having sore feet! I love how they look but it's not worth the pain to me.

  6. I used to wear headbands but man, they give me a splitting headache & make me feel like my head is in a vice.
I'm so intrigued you dont have jeans.
I dont wear heels either... or regular watches (always a fitness tracker) .... & I'm totally with you with dog hair. No shame.

  7. I wish I could vote for MFD today!

I don't wear anything white, off-white, or beige. I don't believe in wearing things the color of one's own skin. I wear sneakers very seldom, though I do like a lot of the fancier, ore fashion sneakers that are out there now. I don't wear strapless dresses.

    1. Oh, and don't wear hats. And I find a lot of hats really douche and unacceptable on other people, though baseball style hats are OK, and any hat you must wear for your profession.

  8. I also never wear my wedding rings - I've been contemplating the silicone rings because I think I'd get more use of them, but the ones I got married with? Nope. Also shorts - I hate shorts.

  9. Ditto on makeup. I think the less makeup we wear, the younger we look. I don’t wear heels often, I loathe how my body feels in shorts and headbands give me a headache. I wear more jewelry than I used to, I think it’s the old hippie look I’m shooting for.

  10. makeup, high heels (or really, any 'real' shoes), hats, product, jewelry (rarely earrings), sunglasses, BIKINIS!, rings (never wore my wedding rings either)

  11. Your eyebrows were perfect at birth💜. Your hair is awesome. I love sunglasses that cover a lot. Great eye protection. Very important. But not the elderly people sunglasses with the side vent like coverage. I don’t wear real bathing suits. I don’t wear a lot of color. My vibration is very colorful, though. Very enjoyable blog. Baby Stephen is asleep and Lola is coloring, so I had time to see your blog this minute.
Goddess speed always ❣️ Love. Your. Momma.

  12. I wont wear shorts, bikinis, any bottoms that aren't plain and dark (black or navy), and I think all my sunglasses cover my eyebrows. I suck at hair so bad. I do dry and straighten it in the mornings....but I dont do anything do it. It is either up or down and just hanging out.

  13. I used to wear jeans almost EXCLUSIVELY and loved them. I still do, but I wear them less :)
Love this post - such a fun idea. Hope the election goes well today!!!

  14. Oh I love this post idea! I'm surprisingly low-key and low-maintenance when I'm at home. Zero makeup, pajamas or sweatpants, no jewelry. 9 times out of 10 I'm not wearing my wedding rings, because who really wants to wear them and get them scratched up while washing dishes or something? lol

  15. My daily face includes lip balm (like lipsmackers because I’m still feeding my 14 year old self the goods) and mascara. I will put on eye shadow for a special event. No filters. Not even One for my mouth. No heels but wedges are fine.

  16. I am the same about the sunglasses, but my aviators cover my eyebrows! I wish I could go without makeup like you, I just feel like I look dead with acne scars, not a good look! Good luck today!

  17. Your list cracks me up because I wear SO MANY of those things. I wish I didn't wear makeup, but my acne and scars make me uncomfortable so I feel a lot better with makeup on. I honestly don't wear it for anyone else- I feel more confident and happy with good makeup on :)
I didn't used to wear aviators, but now I love them. I also wear jeans (constantly), shorts, my wedding rings, hair product, and dresses. But everything is covered in dog hair :)
A lot of people said bikinis! I don't wear those either- mainly because I think one pieces are so dang cute! I also never have and never will wear a thong. Hahahaha!

  18. Love this post idea! I don't wear heels, hats, or leggings (unless they're fleece lined leggings under my regular pants in winter- never alone). I've tried aviators because they look so good one everyone else, but they're not on me. Jealous of your lack of blow dryer and hair products. Even if I let my hair air dry I still have to use a lot of product as to not look like the Lion King.

  19. No jeans?! I'm fascinated by that. I wear makeup every day BUT, I swear it takes me under 10 minutes. During weekend days if i'm just bopping around, it takes less than 5. I don't wear foundation though... my skin is allergic to everything. Also, rings/bracelets annoy the everloving shit out of me.

  20. I don't wear jeans, either. My body was not made for them. I don't wear white bottoms (or tops, really) either. I don't need that kind of pressure.

  21. Yup on the hair and makeup! The ONLY makeup I wear is eyeliner and eyeshadow, and NOTHING on my face. I also don't use hair products either. I am not a girly girl at all.

  22. I do wear make up on certain occasions.. going out etc but on a daily basis none.
Same with my hair.. on a daily basis mine are always air dried.. but I straighten them out for date nights etc.
Jeans yes white jeans.. never ever.

  23. I don't wear heels ... mostly because I"m 5'10 and so is my husband and I hate towering over him. I very rarely wear makeup, although my skin is so blotchy lately i have been wearing foundation, and lip gloss

  24. lol at the dog hair, so true.
I don't wear shorts, t-shirts, and for sure anything tight around my neck, wrists, or ankles (no turtlenecks, no fitbits, no skinny jeans, etc.) I'm super weird about that one.

  25. I’m with you on make up, hair stuff, etc. I LOLed when you said MFD owns all the hair products. I wear filters to hide the bags under my eyes. 🤣🤣 I try to avoid pants. I LOATHE pants. But... necessity. 🤣

  26. I don't own jeans any more, and I almost never war make-up. I mean, I did put on eyeshadow and lipstickon Saturday because it was my cousin's confirmation but on a daily basis I don't. Unless tinted chapstick counts? I never wear leggings as pants - only the capri type under skirts/dresses in summer (and that's only to stop my thighs from sticking together).

  27. Headbands don't work on my hair/head. I only wear hairspray when I'm curling which is rare. I only have 1 pair of heels and I can't remember the last time I wore them. I do have a cute pair of booties I try to wear more often, :).

  28. I never wear real shoes unless I need or have to, haha. Flip flops all the way! And when I can't wear flip flops the shoes must be comfortable. It's also too hot here in the summer for makeup. It really just melts off.

  29. This is a great post idea! Mind if I borrow? :) Also we have the same sheets you're laying on in the post pic. (OMG IS THAT STALKERY? I'M SORRY.) They are just some of my all-time favorites we recently have had to retire because we literally wore holes in them.

  30. That's too funny that you don't own a pair of jeans! I feel like that's all I end up wearing when I'm not at work.

  31. You are so lucky to have hair that can air-dry and look that pretty! My hair takes at least 30 mins of blowdrying and products to maintain the frizz. Emily @ Martinis & Bikinis

  32. I'm considering ditching the face makeup, but I need to invest in better skin care. Same with headbands, I love them but they don't love me back. Really considering getting one of the silicone wedding rings for my workout/beach days. And agree, I'm done even trying heels. Just...nope.
