I spent all of my spare cash on dry shampoo and this is what I have to show for it

I can't even name all the brands of dry shampoo I've tried. If you named one, I could confirm if I have or haven't, though.

I can recall with fondness my first foray into dry shampoo (Tresemme), my first monogamous relationship with dry shampoo (Not Your Mother's Clean Freak), and too many one night stands with dry shampoo to count (Batiste, Suave, Dove, Not Your Mother's Plump for Joy, L'Oreal, Psssst, Garnier Fructis,  Herbal Essences, Drybar, Big Sexy Hair, Alterna, Bumble & Bumble)...the list tumbles down through the years.
Me being me, of course I prefer the more expensive shit. These are my current top two. Basically for the past few years I have been buying a bottle of Living Proof, feeling foolish for spending $22 on it even though I spend more on other beauty shit, then wasting $20 in drugstore brands I end up hating. I both love and hate this cycle - I love trying new things and hate wasting money. Klorane is new to me this year and I like it a lot. Of course I do, because it's $20.

I want to tell you that I will never again waste $5-20 on a hope and a dream, but I don't like to lie. If someone says this is the best! my mind will say let me be the judge of that, for I have more experience with different types of dry shampoo than Jacques Cousteau has with the sea. I have not yet covered all the territory. I have my sights set on trying Aveeno, Amika, John Frieda, and Ouai next.

And of course, any you recommend that I haven't tried. Hint hint.

I'm linking up with Lauren & Bre for their Add it to my list linkup, which they're doing the last Tuesday of every month.

  1. Interesting. As far as nail polish 💅🏻 goes , I do not like to spend even $5 a bottle. Right now I have on Fergie wet n wild 😜 and it is not wearing off like the Sally Hansen. It was one dollar at the dollar store along with a bottle of foil stars in clear polish. Agree with just buying what works.
Have an easy and happy 😊 day❣️
    Love. Your. Momma.

  2. Maybe you should be sitting down while reading my comment. Comfy and have your balance? Good here is my comment/question
    What exactly is dry shampoo?

  3. I have wanted to try Living Proof but I am so cheap, it hasn't happened yet. There's always something else just as silly that deserves my $22. I did start using Not Your Mother's because of you, though. Maybe I'll try the plump kind next time.

Thanks for linking up and posting the pic! It looks like a black box because it was formerly hosted on Photobucket so if you have it saved, I think that's why? I have the button code with new hosting posted today :)

  4. Everyone raves about dry shampoo and I think my hair is just too oily... like you, I've tried SO many and just can't find one I love! I tried the Living Proof... it was decent but not amazing on me. I do like the Moroccan Oil one but $$... and I feel like I have to use so much of it! #thestruggle

  5. I'm with you on the Living Proof ending up being worth it when you end up wasting money trying new ones that don't really work.

  6. I have used amika dry shampoo and its light you can not feel it in your hair which i can't stand when dry shampoo makes my hair feel gross what's the point? Amika has nice light scent and would recommend it. Let me know what you think of course.

  7. I don't use dry shampoo anymore, I feel like it makes my hair fall out. I could be imagining it, but I've read enough confirmation stories on the internet to just skip it. I don't mind using homemade stuff, if I need to! Cornstarch. The end. (Not even kidding, that's the only ingredient! Though I've heard brunettes add cocoa powder or something to make it darker, but the cornstarch doesn't leave my hair white.)

  8. I use Klorane, I got it in my box of style a few seasons ago and I am hooked. I hate that it is so expensive, but I tried all the cheap ones to no avail. Please keep us posted if you find another option that works!

  9. Those are my top two choices as well, and I have tried A LOT! Living Proof is my top top favorite, but Klorane is a close second.

  10. I know well and good that everyone uses dry shampoo but I've never tried it. I think I don't see the point? Like it's not something I care to get involved with because I know it can turn into a money pit. I don't know. Maybe I'm missing something HUGE?

  11. I use Batiste which I found at target and is cheap. Works well for my fine hair.

  12. I've used Aussie... would be good, but the scent is too strong.

  13. sometimes things are totally worth the extra money...
I cant believe I've never tried Living Proof after ALL THE TALK on it .

  14. I've tried Tresemme, Not Your Mother's, and Living Proof.

Living Proof is hand's down the best I've used. Just take my money....

  15. I swear my hair only likes the expensive stuff too, so I use Living Proof! But like you said, it's worth it to spend the money on something you know you'll like, instead of spending the same amount of money on something that might not work. Plus it's always nice when it's on sale at Sephora or Ulta!

  16. I have only ever tried Batiste and I hardly ever use dry shampoo (although I really should). I like the smell of Batiste, but I'm not in love with the product.

  17. i was not a fan of not your mothers, but i am loyal to batiste. i've heard living proof is amazing, but i don't know that, so i can keep ignoring it and not wasting money. i am definitely the same with other products though, let me try all the things you say are better than what i'm currently using.

  18. I think I need to try these. I just bought my first can of dry shampoo a few weeks ago and it's Batiste. I like it fine I guess but I'm not really sure what it's supposed to do? I don't notice much difference. But I have gotten compliments on my hair when I use it, so I guess it must look a little different.

  19. I have been avoiding Living Proof forever because of the cost but I am sure eventually I will succumb. I currently love the Not Your Mother's Tapioca... it smells so damn good too. I have become so lazy I can not live without dry shampoo. Never would have believed it...

  20. Batiste still to this day works the best on my hair. I've tried so many other brands that just leave my hair feeling icky! I've yet to pull the trigger on living proof which so many people rave about but that price tag though ouch! Emily @ Martinis & Bikinis

  21. So I know this is insane but I use baby powder. Like, the loose white stuff from Johnson's. You have to be careful not to use TOO much (especially on dark hair; it'll look gray) but I find that powder works better than these dry shampoo sprays. It absorbs the oil better and you can really see a difference. My coworker told me sometimes she uses bronzer... lol.

  22. I've yet to find one I don't hate. And I NEED to because I want to start dying my hair darker again, which means less washes which means I NEED THIS. Living Proof smelled awful to me. I'm currently trying a powder from Verb and it is so hard to blend.

  23. I went through about six drug store brands and Bumble and Bumble and settled on Batiste for brunettes. I don't totally love it though. I have fine hair and it's flat when I skip a wash, even with dry shampoo. I'm gonna have to bite the bullet and try Living Proof.

  24. Does Fekkai make a dry shampoo? Their shampoos and conditioners have worked really well for me. I just got burned by buying huge bottles of biosilk. I'm still sad about that. I'll check the Target brand I've been using to see if they have a dry shampoo... I haven't actually used it... so I'm hoping you'll help me find the right one. ;)

  25. Am I too late to the dry shampoo party? Sorry. =/

What hair type do you have? I feel like my hair gets waaaayyy too oily waaaayyy too fast for dry shampoo. As far as different ones I've tried - the one that was the most interesting was the dry shampoo foam from OUAI.

    DID NOT LIKE.

    It's a wet foam. I don't know what I was thinking.
