TWTW - the one where January made its presence felt

Hold onto your hats, because I did not spend Friday night on the couch. MFD picked me up and we met Angie at the Nasty Women exhibit at ABD Gallery with great city views on a bitterly cold night in Philly. There was a piece in there that elicited a visceral rageful reaction from me and that alone was worth attending.
We followed it up with a belated birthday dinner for Angie at Bufad. The top left is what happens when MFD takes the photo. The bottom right is what happens when he suggests walking under trestles.
I came home to the arrival of the pieces I ordered after Christmas from Philly artist Blur Street Art. After encountering an ishknits street art piece before the art exhibit, it was a nasty women day all around.

Saturday dawned with a pre-7 am grocery delivery, food prep (see below), some random purging, and an inability to find my keys. Serenity now in the form of a hot stone massage.

That was followed by a chocolate chip bagel and surviving a short dicked loser with Florida plates passing people on a road with no passing lane at 55 MPH in a 25 with three inches of snow and ice on the ground. Once home, I stayed there. Laundry, reading, Billions, and lounging were orders of the day. Lori spent the night and I rented another week at the shore house.
Sunday I cleaned out the freezer and two kitchen cabinets, changed the sheets, found my freaking keys in a coat jacket, and did a little face mask magic. MFD was in charge of this week's flowers. My hanger project in the closet is in full swing. That's about it for productive things, otherwise it was starting a new book and laying on the couch in lounge attire finishing out the first season of Billions and watching Deadpool and Sisters. It was way too fucking cold to go outside voluntarily, and thankfully that wasn't necessary for me on Sunday.
Weekly food prep: the word of the week is spinach since I had a big mama box of it to get through. Breakfast is a spinach/tomato/cheese egg bake; lunch is cauliflower bowls; a batch of spinach muffins for the freezer with mini chocolate chips added because I'm crazy like that; a pan of spinach lasagna roll ups to freeze and one for dinner this week (that is not actually a pan of indecipherable sauce, there's spinach lasagna roll ups under there); and Sunday dinner was supposed to be baked chicken with roasted carrots and potatoes  but then I didn't feel like getting up off my ass so it wasn't. That'll be one night this week too.

Favorite day tomorrow! Show Us Your Books!

  2. You went out on Friday night and I stayed home (all weekend actually) for the first time in months. It was glorious. Looks like a great weekend. Your food is inspirational as always!! Have a great Monday!

  3. The food for the week looks tasty! I stayed in most of the say saturday too, but totally would have ventured out for a massage (and probably flipped off the FL driver). The massage sounds much better than my drive to and from my car dealership.
It was way too cold to do anything outdoors for more than 5 seconds haha

  4. Cleaning the fridge/freezer is one of my favourite bi-monthly household chores. I'm not really sure why, but I always feel so much better with a tidy/organized fridge. Have a great (spinach filled) week!

  6. I LOVE PeterThomasRoth products. What do you think of the stem cell masque? I lived vicariously through you this weekend, I didn't leave the apartment once due to work. Damn sick kids!

  7. Lol on Mike Doyle picture taking and the trestle picture face! Love the flowers. Spiky and fun. Extra lights always being streamed to you chickens on the road because of assholes like the FLA guy and my least favorite season that puts snow, ice, freezing stuff on roads and wherever we walk. May we all be safe and sound all the way around including all modes of transport! Don't mind if the time flies these next 3 months. I don't trust March weather at all!
    Love your ever-lighting Momma!

  9. Sisters is sitting on my DVR but I haven't made the time to watch it yet since Andrew has zero desire and I nearly always fall asleep during movies anyway. Is it worth it?

Love how the cold weather made someone dream of a shore vacation. Houston had likely it's one cold weekend of the year (highs in the 40s) and I personally loved it!

  10. I need to know more about this piece that stirred you up so vehemently. I also need some of that pizza and ice cream delivered to my bed. I think it would make me feel better. That and some pug love. No idiots from FL though.

  12. I stayed in ALLLLL weekend because it was too cold outside to deal. It was glorious! Cleaned the master bathroom, the freezer, did laundry, got Christmas put away sans the big tree, worked out twice, made healthy meals...I love staying in!

  13. You were productive this weekend! I love those art pieces. They're so perfect! One of these weekends I'd like to stay in the whole time and clean organize... but I just can't get myself to stay home. Haha!

  14. The Nasty Woman Exhibit sounds amazing. I hope it gets a ton of traffic and attention! I hated asshat drivers like that when I lived in Minnesota. And why does it NOT shock me that the driver was from Florida? All in all, it looks like a good weekend with lots of lounge time. Have you shared your spinach tomato egg bake recipe? It looks delicious!

  15. We had a snowed-in weekend here too. Got in tons of kiddo snuggles, a lot of meal prep, and some purging so I'm happy! I did the hanger thing too. It's a great system and really reminds you of what you are ACTUALLY wearing.

  16. The dogs dont look very excited about the cold snow outing. A hot stone massage sounds fabulous on a cold day! We actually had a cold spell down here too, with snow and ice and everything.

  23. Your food prep always looks so yummy! And that exhibit sounds beyond awesome, I bet there's ample things like that in SF that I could sniff out. And yes, that is a classic photo taken by a male spouse. Like thank you for your artistry...

  24. I've never had a hot stone massage. I've always wanted one though, that might have to be my next "treat yoself" I love the picture of you & MFD lol. That food from the bday dinner looks amazing. Some quality pizza sounds awesome right now.

  25. Beautiful views despite the cold! Ugh 90% of the time when the husband takes "fun photos" for the blog they are blurry. No bueno! I've never had a hot stone massage. How do you like it compared to a regular massage?

  26. At least you were productive while being stuck inside. I cannot deal with people who don't know how to drive in snow, but live in a snowy place.
