I want to go out tonight, I want to find out what I got

It's always a risky proposition to attend a Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band concert on a school night. Wednesday night at Citizens Bank Park proved that - this 67 year old man and his band played for four hours and four minutes. It was his longest concert in North America and his second longest concert ever. We stood 80% of the time and as always they put on an incredible show. This was my fifth time seeing them live, and every time has gotten better (but I still miss you, Big Man). If the Boss is in town, you should go. He is our best storyteller. Seeing him live even converted MFD into a huge fan - like his music, he works the whole show from start to finish. He leaves everything on the field.
I got my love of the Boss from my dad. This is the music I was raised on. It was awesome to be at the concert with him and Carol.
A little bit of Rosalita for you:

A little bit of Born to Run for you:

Since he played until after midnight, we didn't get home until close to 2. I didn't fall asleep until after 2:30 because I was hyped up on concert adrenaline and motor vehicle fear as I just survived an escape from a concert parking lot/ride down 95 with MFD at the wheel. I thought Jimmy, Catie, Joe and I would perish to a Thompson Twins song as MFD ranted into the great beyond about assholes stuck in parking lots but we lived to tell the tale.

And now it's Friday. Tommy need sleepy.

Have a great weekend my friends!

  2. I would love to see him live! I was thinking of you every time I heard yesterday that it was a record breaking concert. I'm so glad you got to experience it! I misunderstand so many of his lyrics that I never know which song is which but I can see that he's an amazing performer.

  3. He is playing up here soon and he told the town that he will play for at least 3.5 hours. So they gave him a time extension as the town has a noise ordinance and he basically was like no i need more time to play. How awesome, right?

  10. Going out on a school night is always risky, but if The Boss is in town it's totally worth the risk! It sounds like y'all had a great time, and now you can get caught up on sleep over the weekend!

  12. Wow- your dad looks so young! Haha! Maybe it's the concert atmosphere- you all look so youthful and energized!
Concerts on a school night are always rough but almost always worth it :)

  13. So cool that you got to go to that concert with your dad!!! It looks like you had a great time. When I was in college, I got to see Bon Jovi with my parents after growing up listening to them other other similar bands of their era. One of my favorite concerts to date.

  14. I've seen Bruce a couple of times and both times were indoor venues. (Coincidentally, one of those times was with my mom and stepdad.) For some reason, these pics at an outdoor venue seems all the more awesome for a Bruce show.

  15. This sounds amazing. I think Jungleland was the first song I ever learned the words to. My parents were HUGE Bruce fans. They converted my brother and me, and I still distinctly remember when my dad sat us down and told us to buy our own greatest hits CDs because he was tired of us stealing his!

  19. Ha - your tales of MFD driving . . . sounds like a familiar tune to my husband. Man, I would love to see Bruce in concert . . . I don't remember him coming to Atlanta in recent years but I would make it a priority to go!!! Awesome that you go to do that with your dad! And four hours is epic!
