TWTW - the one con las madres

Friday night I survived the drive home on 95 with MFD - is it possible to get a t-shirt made up with that slogan? Anyone who has driven with him on 95 knows why I need one. Lord have mercy. We had pizza at Stephen & Aubrey's with Dad & Carol for Mother's Day.
After a quick stop at home to get the dogs, we headed to the shore and arrived to some minor flooding around 11:30. We only had a little around the sewers on our side. Across the street was flooded out. I was really pleased with the ceiling and dry wall repair in the efficiency and where the gas heater was removed, so that was a great thing to see.
I took the dogs down to the beach Saturday morning. The ocean was angry and it was like it threw up all over the beach. I actually saw the corpse of a headless bird. It was gruesome and I'm glad the dogs were distracted by other things like flying foam that Mae thought was like a person or a tiny friend. She was nuts over flying foam.
But enough fun. MFD went out to show some condos and I settled in for some manual labor: painting the wall where the gas heater was removed, painting some trim in the kitchen, reorganizing the kitchen closet, and steam cleaning the third floor carpets.
We jumped in the car and were back home by 2. Saturday night was a beef & beer for my father-in-law, huge thanks to family and friends who attended and/or donated. MFD and I were big winners in the basket auction.
Sunday I slept in and it was glorious. I spent a few hours doing the hausfrauing: setting the house to rights, changing the sheets, doing laundry, doing a little work on the basement reorganization project, going grocery shopping. And celebrating Geege's 12th birthday of course. The dogs had scrambled eggs for breakfast and cheeseburgers for dinner.
Weekly food prep: breakfast is egg muffins with baby bellas, green onions, and cheese; bacon blue cheese dip I saw on Gwen's blog to take to my mom's to take to my mom's; lunch is quinoa salad with cucumbers, tomatoes, red onions, chicken, gorgonzola, and Greek salad dressing; and I marinated chicken for the week. I was short on time so no pre-made dinners.
Dinner at Mom's Sunday for Mother's Day and Rich's birthday was a good time as always. And it was the third day in a row I saw my lovely niece Lola Jean.
It was especially fun when I showed my Mom she is not as good at hiding hair manes as she thinks. Not so fun when I felt ill after eating two desserts.

  2. A corpse of a headless bird - that is quite disturbing! I don't know how it is to drive with MFD on 95, but I'd like to know what he says! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston

  3. We had some crazy rain Friday, it's interesting how much more quickly it floods by the sea than in the big city. The water usually disappears just as fast as it shows up though which is always good.

Thank you for not posting the washed up decapitated bird. UGH!
You should totally make a shirt & wear it on your next drive - that'd be funny to see the reaction about it :)

  14. Phew that you didn't get flooded! That was lucky. It must be a worry to have a house to look after that you don't actually live in. And two desserts always seems like a good idea, and sometimes I pull it off, and sometimes it was just a really bad idea after all...

I feel the same way about my husband driving on the highway. I'm almost considering getting precribed anxiety medication just for when i have to be a passenger in his car. lol
