TWTW - the one with the scheduled things

Friday night smelled like teen spirit. Just kidding, it smelled like scentsy because Amanda hosted a sniff & sip & slip. It was a nice night with the girls and Frank.
I was down in Ocean City checking out the scene on the beach and boards by 8:30 Saturday morning.
When I got to our house, I set about putting the efficiency mostly back to rights. MFD still needs to put my bike together and we still have shit to hang, but anything that was undone due to storm flooding is now re-done and it's pretty ready to open next weekend. I also spent a half hour looking for my phone to call a contractor and it was literally right in front of my face. Hashtag elderly brain. I cleaned up most of the trashcan area too, which involved touching soaking wet trash. FUN!
Comcast came to install cable and Internet, which took four hours because the old lines were shot and had to be replaced and a booster had to be put in to get wifi through all four stories. There's only one TV in the living room so I'm sure people will be streaming. The water is still turned off in the house so I may have had to pee in a DD iced coffee cup which I then had to dump outside, along with my dignity. Like a dumbass I didn't turn on the heat because I didn't expect to be there that long and froze my black soul to the core. However after four hours together in the cold like people stranded on Antarctica to die, my Comcast tech and I are BFF and he does home repair and licensed HVAC on the side so I'm glad to know him because we have needs for those things down there. Another contractor who fixed a leak before we made settlement that came back was also through on Saturday so ceilings are getting replaced this week fo' free since it wasn't made right the first time. And I went through the house making yet more lists of things that still need to get done and bought. I was heading home by 4:15 under some gorgeous skies. I got the hottest shower on record, ate a pizza, and was asleep by 10:30.
Sunday I hoped to be up and out by 9, but I actually woke up at 9. When I finally got to Marshalls armed with gift cards and a list a mile long, I found there were no carts. It was like playing Supermarket Sweep - shop, run stuff up to the register, pick up more stuff, run stuff up to the register - except nothing was free and I had no chance to win.
In the afternoon I headed up to the William Penn Inn brunch buffet to celebrate Pete's 80th with Carol's family. The food and company were great as always, even though I had to duck out of cake back at Dave & Sue's to get home for dog duty. MFD made it to the end of brunch but was basically working all over SE PA on Sunday so dog care fell to moi.
My niece Lola is behind the smiley hearts because she gives people smiley hearts
In dog town, Gus felt good to be king, Mae only wanted to be left alone to sleep under covers, and Geege was on patrol...so nothing new with the crew this weekend. No pooping incidents or food break incidents.
Weekly food prep: breakfast burritos made with italian sausage, egg, jalapeno cheddar cheese, and diced green chiles to freeze; power breakfast muffins to freeze; egg muffins with jalapeno cheddar and italian sausage for this week's breakfasts; baked chicken for dinners (will be served with sweet potato fries and steamed veggies). I'll be making poop soup for the dogs and corned beef soup for lunches this week tomorrow night after zumba.

Let it be known that I have washed all of my heavy duty winter coats so I don't want to wear them again, winter. Please respect my boundaries.

Book talk tomorrow!

  1. I love that you have a life that just includes going to a shore house whenever, so awesome. I know you had to do some work (wet trash, oof) but those snowy beach views sure do help with it I would imagine. Great food prep this week, freezing breakfast burritos is a FABULOUS idea, I might do that sometime soon! So fun to get niece time :)

  3. Oooh I want those breakfast burritos please! Looks like you got a LOT accomplished this weekend--how exciting that the house is basically ready for your first season of ownership!!

  4. I'm so sorry you're having to deal with all that flood shit. Ugh. But at least it won't delay opening your house!
And you, my friend, are very brave to tempt winter with washing coats before April - especially when there is still snow on the ground!

  5. wow, what a busy weekend!! so is the woes of being a landlord. my friend says this all the time whenever shit goes sideways with is rental.

i was going to wash all of the winter coats but then a snowstorm pounded the city so that will have to be postponed to this weekend. from here on out, it's spring gear because i am not washing winter coats again.

  6. Marshall's on a Saturday morning sounds like the least fun thing ever.
This is also why I'm apprehensive to be a landlord at any point. Love the blue patterned rug. I kind of want one now.
Yay for food prep. I didn't do that at all.

  7. Popping down to our favorite shore to your own house, finding a good guy for repairs, etc., new ceilings free, cleaning up the efficiency, visiting the beach on my favorite boardwalk- beyond my wildest and best dreams for you! No poop, etc. incidents with the pups! That brunch meat looks awesome. Assuming Pete is holding precious cargo! Time has flown by since you closed the shore house and now it's time to open again! Thanks to the universe times 50 quadrillion for everything! Love, Your Momma

  8. You got a lot done, and the cleaning at the shore hopefully brings some paying guests soon! I washed my coat this weekend too, hopefully it is the end of the cold!! Mae under the covers is adorable!!

  9. One day I swear I'll be a fraction as productive as you are! A few weeks ago, we had to have Verizon come out and it took one million years. Cable/internet companies are the worst. And glad to see the pugs are keeping their kingdom well protected and slept on.

  10. Peeing in a DD cup for the win. I've done that in my car while stuck in traffic quite a few times. It boggles my mind just how productive you are in a weekend.

  11. Mae is such a diva. Look at her snuggled in like she owns the place! Yay for progress on opening the shore house and finding some competent subs to hopefully rely on!

  12. That food looks amazing, especially the chicken! What do you put on it?

  13. It seems crazy to me to see snow on the beach! We're supposed to be in the 70's this week and I'm so excited, I'm even more excited for time change so I can after more after work light for beach things.

I was just thinking today there was a time when I would wonder what to read next or how to find a good book but now I just wait for the second Tuesday of the month!

  14. I made egg muffins this week, but have been thinking about making breakfast burritos....I also want to get a deep freezer so I can start prepping for a month out

  15. I'm never going to look at a DD iced coffee cup the same again. :)
Side note - I love the color leather inside your car!!!

  16. I love OC! I went to school in Maryland and had a ton of friends with houses there. Sounds like you have a lot on your hands getting it up and running again but hopefully it'll all pay off!

  17. Wow you more in two days than I do in like two weeks. How exciting that the house is all ready for beach season. Glad Comcast was able to set everything up. I despite them! I hate when I have to call them, I think they have the worst customer service ever. Mae is so adorable!

  18. I love how all 3 doggies have distinct personalities and are up to their own antics at any given time. Sorry you froze! A hot shower after being in the cold is the only solution! Cheers to a fabulous week <3

  19. Your Saturday was hilarious as a bystander to your pain. Glad the time with Comcast guy was at least fruitful. How is Marshall's out of carts? LOL at the Supermarket Sweep comparison. I still pretend I'm on that show when I'm in a hurry at the store and I also make mental notes of where random items are located just in case they bring it back...

  20. how you had time for food prep after doing all that is beyond me. I was exhausted by the end of your post!

  21. You had me singing Kurt Cobain, haha. Glad you had a good weekend and cheers to getting the house so close to being complete, woohoo!

  22. So funny I just put my winter coat in the dry cleaning bag & am also hoping I didn't curse myself, haha. It looks like you made some good house progress this weekend. I laughed at your supermarket sweet @ marshalls comment.

  23. Busy busy weekend! Sounds like the shore house is coming together nicely. Hopefully you can get the water back on soon so you don't have to do any more DD cup incidents again. lol

    ReplyDelete
  24. Oh man, I love Scentscy! Those smell and sip parties are always so much fun, and I always end up buying so much! You were definitely able to accomplish a lot this weekend, but that sucks about Marshall's not having any carts! You'd think that they wouldn't have that problem!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Ohhhh Supermarket Sweep!!! I always dreamed of being on that show or Shop Til You Drop! they were the best!!! You always get so much done on your weekends you make me feel like a lazy sack of crap! Look at all your shore house efforts, shopping, meal prepping and dog corralling!

  26. I can almost guarantee that if I prepare for warm weather in any way, an Arctic blast will instantly sweep the nation.

Sounds like a super productive house related weekend though, we were away all weekend so I'm itching to do all the jobs I'm now behind on...

  27. Did you post a recipe for your poop soup? I can't believe I just typed those words, but J & I were discussing your dog children this weekend and we have been toying with the idea of making food for them for one of their 2 daily meals...

Other than that, we have to plan our shore sunrise + brunch of some sort this spring.

  28. The shore house is coming along! Exciting! And it sounds like you need a weekend from your weekend . . . hope you get to relax soon!

  29. Ugh I need to wash all our winter gear and put it away but we'll see when that goes down. Sounds like a great weekend, esp the shopping part! I love Marshalls. :) Have a great one Steph! Take Care -Iva

  30. woah. i have never seen snow and a beach in the same picture. it snows at the beach? that is seriously blowing my mind right now and i feel very stupid, but whatever.
i don't want to wear any more coats either. i put mine away already and i might be regretting it. the dogs are so adorable, yay for no vomit or puking or peanut butter situations!

  31. Pizza and an early bedtime... there's nothing more than anyone could ever ask for. Worth touching nasty ass wet garbage. lol
