TWTW-Last one of the birthday month

Last week was a busy one and I slacked off on my hausfrauing. I typically do a few tasks each weeknight so I don't have to clean on weekends, but this was a special case. Friday night I set the house to rights - two loads of laundry put away, two more done, fridge emptied and cleaned, dishwasher run and put away, kitchen cleaned and mopped, two bathrooms cleaned, house picked up, scarves/winter gear/pajamas purged, and car loaded up with crap to be donated. I didn't sit down all night and I was okay with that. I hate going into a weekend with the house in disarray.
Gus says, "We'll keep these scarves, mother. The rest of the shit can go."
Saturday morning I was out like a shout - filled the car up with gas, dropped books at the library, hit the gym for my 40, back home to shower and then back out to drop stuff off at Goodwill and get a treat yo'self pedicure (OPI Cha-Ching Cherry). I picked up veggies while my toes were drying. I know there are others of you out there who parade around with your feet like that after a pedicure. Raise your hands and show yourselves.
The afternoon found me at All Fired Up in Collingswood, NJ, to meet up with my friends Marla of Luck Fupus and Brie of A Breezy Life for some ceramics painting and dinner. I painted a coffee mug (are you surprised?) and required assistance from Brie after I fucked it up. Marla also needed her artsy influence so out of the three of us Brie is the painting queen. They treated me to Tortilla Press and got me a cute bag of gifts to boot. I'm lucky to call The Sisters Wexler friends. See you next month ladies!
Comcast got Das Boot Saturday night. More on that tomorrow.
Sunday morning I figured out how to stream YouTube and did my weights workout through the TV...behind the times, I know. After that french press coffee was on the agenda, as was lounging with the dogs.
Weekly food prep: scrambled eggs with sautéed mushrooms and spinach, green onions, and Havarti dill cheese for breakfasts; baby carrots and Granny Smith apples for snacks; and salads for lunch - I make them the night before so only one made Sunday. Dinners: baked burgers with spinach and goat cheese over a bed of lettuce, mashed sweet potatoes, mashed cauliflower, steamed veggies, and oven baked ribs (this pic is pre-baking, click here to see them out of the oven).
Other weekend things:
-I finished the second season of The Fall. Jamie Dornan and Gillian Flynn are excellent. If you haven't watched this show, check it out!
-MFD is super busy work-wise, which is awesome for many reasons. I don't see him much, and when I do he's on the phone. LOL. No complaints though because I love my alone time. If you're looking to buy or sell in PA or NJ, get in touch with him!

Today is going to be a good day - when I left work on Friday everything got filed and I dealt with everything in my email inbox so I'm starting fresh this morning, Comcast cable boxes are being returned (more on that tomorrow), and tonight I have a 50 minute massage and a peppermint scalp massage. Monday, you'll do. You'll do.

  2. The ceramic painting looks like fun, I've always wanted to go to one of those painting classes. I also did a bit of spring cleaning this weekend, and it felt amazing :)

  3. I finished the second season of The Fall too. I need to know what happens next!! So impressed with your cleaning skills. Mine was a little lax this weekend but I have a half week so I knew I could put it off. Total slacker I know. Pedicures are always nice especially now that it is getting nice out.

  5. Last year, I was visiting one of my kiddos at Harvard, and we couldn't find anywhere to get a pedicure. We ended up at this uber sketch place in another suburb on the other side of Cambridge. They took SO LONG and we couldn't get a cab back because... Boston cabs are weird, so we started the shlep in our pedi-sandals. EVERYONE STARED AT US while they were out buying their veggies. Or whatever it is suburban people do while they pass judgement on our poorly pedicured toes that didn't look any better after a schlep back to Cambridge. Moral of the story: stay away from suburbs or store a cab company's phone number in your phone.

  6. I love the Tortilla Press! My friend Jill used to live just down the street and around the corner. And yes, I do run errands in my post-pedi flops.

  7. It's amazing what a pedicure can do for your mood! Your sunday morning workout is a lot like my workout this morning - streaming to the TV is the best thing ever!! :) Hope you have a great day! xo, Biana - BlovedBoston

  8. I love a clean house before the weekend too. I hate using my weekend to do housework so I try to get everything out of the way during the week.

And The Fall? I've never heard of this show until a couple weeks ago and now it seems everyone is talking about it. Guess I will have to check it out. I love Gillian Anderson. She plays a great villain/evil character.

  9. The Fall. As we have talked about before. Amazing. We have a place similar to Fired Up here in Wake Forest. Been meaning to try it!

  10. Great weekend for you. I wish it really felt like flip-flop weather. Snow flurries this morning. Happy Easter week!
That Bunny is so creepy- I am surprised any kid wants to sit with it. Hoping to get Easter candy 1/2 price next Monday!
    Love, your Momma

Also, the picture with your puggy above your head = PRICELESS!

  12. You rocked this weekend! We took a couple large bags to GoodWill this weekend too- thank goodness. They'd been sitting half-full in our living room for awhile so we finally stuffed them to the brim with crap and got 'em out of the house. I am dying to get a pedicure but I keep telling myself to wait until closer to my bday. Why, I don't know?! :) Enjoy that massage tonight!

  13. Looks like you had a wonderful weekend! I finally started doing the gel nails on my toes so that I don't have to wait for them to dry. I want to paint some ceramics. Also cleaned out my closet this week and it felt so good to get that over with. Glad to have found your blog!

  14. Yup, guilty of post-pedicure adventuring haha! I have heard some crazy Comcast stories, so I look forward to reading yours tomorrow. Somehow, our apartment complex has a server that's even worse than Comcast (no options for faster internet, basic television channels, and cuts out constantly), so I'm hoping to get Comcast back - words I NEVER thought I'd say after living in CT.

  15. Great weekend! I love the mug painting and I want to do another painting party with my friends soon. Did it snow by you? We spent Saturday playing in the snow with the kid instead of sitting inside and cursing it. Love your meal prep as usual. Looks good!

  18. Ugh, I want more dogs!! They're so precious all cozied up together everywhere. And you always get so much done! Even when you say you are taking it easy on the chores you end up doing about 500 times more than me, ha. It's awesome.

Food looks great & bravo on the goodwill donations. The more you can get out is always the better!

  19. I love that pic of MFD giving comcast the finger. hell yes. I can't wait to hear about the switch. I'm looking at switching too. I left all chores for the weekend and it sucked. we bagged leaves for 4 hours on friday.

  26. The Fall is next on my list! I'm just about done with Bloodline. That Mexican food looks so good! I plan to take my kids to paint some pottery this week, if we ever start feeling better. I haven't done it since I was a teacher and we took kindergartners on a field trip. I'm more excited than my kids are! Haha.

  29. Sounds like you had one busy weekend!!! What a fun blogger date! You have gotten a lot of those lately :) Love seeing bloggers out together. All of your food looks yummy! I did some purging this weekend too! Looks like the spring cleaning bug is going around. Cha-ching cherry is one of my all time favorite colors! I have it under my sink somewhere. You reminded me that my toes are in need of attention! Have a great week!

  30. Your girls' get together looks like so much fun! Glad you had a good last birthday weekend of the month. Can't wait to hear the juicy details of you kicking Comcast to the curb.

  31. I need to get rid of some crap.

    Haha about Comcast.

  32. This is probably a huge asshole thing to say, but your weekend posts make me miss my baby-free days. I mean, obviously I love Jack and having a baby was something I chose, but man, I miss lazy/busy by choice weekends sometimes. Ok, now I feel like a really bad mother. Just keeping it real.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Oh I can't wait to hear your Comcast story! Looks like another super productive weekend for you my friend! Good job! Spinach and goat cheese burgers sound yumm-oh!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Your meal preps always look so good! I need to figure out how to stream to my TV for workouts. Its probably really simple I just use my MacBook of iPad because its easier - or I'm lazy lol

    ReplyDelete
  35. I never thought about doing ribs in the oven before! I'm definitely going to have to try that sometime.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Uhm, yo, is that key lime pie? I love myself some key lime pie. Australia doesn't do key lime pie (because limes cost $52/piece)...(ok, maybe not that much, but they cost too much). Sounds like you had yourself a productive week. Go you!

  37. The ladies meet-up sounds so fun. I'm yet to try out one of those painting/art classes. Love the toe nail color. Lol at grocery shopping with the toe separators. I've definitely gone back to work with them after a lunchtime pedi appointment. This post reminds me that I really need to start spring cleaning....if I'm ever home to get it done!!

  38. Looks like a great weekend! I went through and got rid of a few bags of winter stuff this weekend too! Feels so good to clean out the closet!

  40. Another excellent weekend :) The mug is cute! Your salad does look tasty! We have been sticking to at least one salad a week for dinner rule in our house and it has been going good...I'm always on the look out for inspiration. I love havarti cheese!!

  41. Hoooray for a fabulous end to your birthday month! So glad we got to be a part of it. And that fuck you Comcast pic of Michael should be framed.

  42. I've gone into an establishment with those foam flip flops on after a pedicure before, so I'm SUPER embarrassing, ha. Love that polish color!
