Spring Goals

Happy Friday! Even though snow is in today's forecast, according to the calendar it's the first day of spring which means it's time for me to share my seasonal goals with you. Here are some things I hope to accomplish this spring:

1. Raise money for March for Babies for the March of Dimes. I'm walking on Team Eva the Diva on April 26. Click here if you'd like to donate. Your gift will support March of Dimes research and programs that help moms have full-term pregnancies and babies begin healthy lives. And it will be used to bring comfort and information to families with a baby in newborn intensive care, like Eva was.

2. Further pare down my wardrobe when I switch over my summer and winter clothes. There are a ton of shoes that must go.

3. When Lent is over and I've completed my 46 days in a row of 40 minutes of exercise or more a day, formulate another plan and stick to it.

4. Pantry and freezer clean out - use or toss. The time is now.

5. Canoe.

6. Yard and flower bed cleanup and flowerbed planting.

7. Check out the Before I Die Board on Broad Street.

8. Try two new restaurants.

9. Go strawberry picking.

10. Spend the morning in New Hope.

And you? What's on your agenda this spring?

  1. Cleaning out the closet is on my list too. I really want to be better at gardening, and lawn care. My yard looks horrible right now. Hiking and kayaying are making the list too. Strawberry picking will be really fun and hopefully inspires a new recipe or two.

  3. #7 sounds interesting. Brava on the exercise! I think there could be a snake in the strawberry patch. I picked many years ago with Grandmom. I really do not like dirt or worms either. Organizing and purging is always a good thing.
My main thing now is to way monitor my spending. If only we knew how long we were going to live or if everyone had guaranteed government pensions. And we could all earn money doing what we love. These sound like wishes instead of goals. Happy Spring and Happy Weekend. I am ignoring the snow forecast.
    Love, Your Momma

  4. My job is organizing a group for the March for Babies, such a great charity event! And look at you go with the exercise, I'd love to get that much in every day, keep up the awesome work!

Around these parts, I'd like to finally finish the landscaping/gardening that has taken a back seat and is looking pitiful. I'd also like to get some fresh flowers around the house especially since they're so cheap at Trader Joe's.

    Happy Friday <3

  5. Hooray for canoeing! The pantry and freezer clean out is a really good idea. I've never even considered going through them to use up/throw away old things. In my parents house we just had extra food all the time, and no one really knew how long some of those boxes had been in there.

  6. it's spring weather, FINALLY!!!! today is a low of 2C which is a freaking miracle. usually our "lows" are in the negatives. i will be making a bunch of DIY cleaning agents and using them around the house for some spring-like scents -- i bought sweet orange and lemon essential oils. then i'll be making my own dryer sheets using lemon or lavender essential oils.

and when i told my husband that i'm making these cleaning agents, he says to me: oh good, then that means you'll use this time off work to clean more? hater. he obviously got the side-eye.

  7. I need to finish cleaning out my closet, but the clothes and shoes are the easy part. It's the stuff I'm storing in there that I need to organize or get rid of. Had to check out that Before I Die wall and the ones I could travel to appear to have lived for a short while so I'll be interested to see your experience in Philly! Ugh, pantry and freezer...we have stuff that is seriously out of date and I get disappointed when I pull it out.

  8. Cleaning out everything in this apartment! Books need to be donated, clothes need to be removed from all of their hiding spots and donated. We are planning on looking for a house this summer, in hopes of moving in December! Spring cleaning needs to be taken extra serious this year!! I'm a pack-rat and I need to get over it and remove stuff I haven't worn or used! I have an attachment to everything.

  12. It's funny you put strawberry picking on your list because Scott and I were just talking last week about going to the strawberry festival at local orchard and getting there early enough to pick strawberries.

I have been canoeing. At sleepaway camp. It is something else. And Scott and I went kayaking on our honeymoon. We almost sank. No boats for me.

I love the rest of your goals!

  13. You should feel free to send me all the strawberries. Or at least half of them.
My spring list... catch up on all the damn chronicles of education that have been accumulating on my desk. I don't know why I subscribe to things. I don't read them until life slows way, way, way down... which appears to be never.

  14. My list includes getting up to Cape Cod, fixing up and planting my flower beds, buying myself some clothes, and starting something new. I know that last one is vague but I just want to start something and be excited by it. I have no idea what it is yet but I will think of something!!! Have a great weekend!

  15. yes to strawberry picking! My goal too with blueberries. And I think I'm gonna switch over my closet to spring clothes this weekend which is UGHHHH bc it's such a chore but the time is now (in your words).

Great goals, excited to see them come to fruition!

  16. I also have to do something with our garden. I'm terrible at such things so it will be a challenge!

  17. Dammit... still working on my winter goals!! But I am doing yard work this weekend too. Normally I hate it but lately it seems to be keeping me a little more sane to get out there and sweat and get instant gratification!

  19. I'm with you on strawberry picking, I've been avoiding the on sale strawberries just so I can stock up on fresh pick your own when the time is right.

  20. I need to basically clean out my whole house. I'm feeling the itch to get rid of all the things! The march for babies sounds like a great cause.

  21. Good list!! I have a goals/to-do list in my drafts and your list made me think of a couple more to add to mine. Definitely need to get in there and clean out the pantry and freezer.

  22. I love cleaning out my closet every couple seasons or so. I have sooo many bags I don't need haha

  23. I need to clean out my closet too. I love fresh strawberry season. It's quick here, but so worth it! Good luck with your spring goals.

  24. Love the goals! I need a closet re-haul.

  25. I love these goals. I need to clear out my "pantry" - cabinet and my closet.
I have to say I admire how much you and MFD are involved in charities. Those things make my heart smile!

  26. I have been cleaning out closets in preparation for moving (minimizing the amount of shit we have to move and getting rid of things we won't need, like sweaters and winter coats) and it has been amazing. I have been ruthless with stuff and it feels glorious. I am also realizing I am never going to wear all the cute heels I used to wear to teach (I have no idea how I wore some of them and was on my feet for as long as I am while teaching) and am finally letting them go.

I loved strawberry picking as a kid; I think my mom hated it because I was always filthy and always managed to sit on a strawberry.

  27. Strawberry picking sounds so fun!!! I am working on getting my spring goals together myself. Cleaning out my closet will be one of them. Again. I need to really let some things go!! Good luck with your goals!

  29. I hear you on getting rid of old clothes/shoes. I was just telling my girlfriends today that I need to do it BADLY and SOON.

  30. I've never heard of the "before I die" board, but it looks like something I want to see to. I know one thing that is on my list for the warmer weather, and that is meet up with you and MJ!
