Currently...January

Keeping a list...like Jill Biden's.

Taking...a page out of Steph G's book and using all of my nail polishes once through before repeating any at all. Nails and toes count but my toes are currently on a nail polish hiatus for a month. I like to give them room to breath over the winter. Sorry nails, you need to work all year. I haven't counted my polishes, but I've already used three this year so far. If I don't like it and don't want to wear it, it goes.

Drinking...All the iced coffee I can. It's 99 cents, you guys. You know, because it's January. I say put your iced wares on sale any time, DD. I don't stop drinking cold drinks when it gets cold, iced coffee included.

Resisting...the urge to paint the built in bookcases in the basement. Because painting is a pain in the ass and I'm a messy painter. And because painting them will lead me to want to repaint the rest of the basement which is the only room aside from the bathroom we've never painted. And because MFD always protests my painting. So...you'll probably find me buying paint one night next week.

Reading...Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen. I'm not a die hard Austen fan, but based on this post by Kristen at See You in a Porridge I thought I'd like this one.

Playing...Trivia Crack like it's the only thing left to do on earth.

Watching...Downton Abbey and The Fall - it's back for season two. Lady Mary is looking fierce on Downton in her wanton lady frock and Jamie Dornan is the handsomest serial killer ever on The Fall. I'm behind on everything else. Oh...I'm watching Lockup too. I blame Laura & Chris.

Trying...to keep to healthy eating 90% of the time instead of 50% like I was doing last year. I think I'm at about 80% right now. It helps that MFD is doing this too since he is the typically the purveyor of junky processed crap. I'm not doing any whole 30/paleo/supplement/program/voodoo, just healthy food portioned well with the processed or not so healthy food making up only 10% of the week.
Ground turkey taco'd up with sauteed onions and orange pepper and diced tomatoes for lettuce wraps
Loving...This. Trust. Not everything is meant for us. Don't waste your energy trying to break down a door that's not yours. Focus your energy on finding the door that is.

Laughing at...man illness. Tis the season! Ladies, you are well acquainted with it I'm sure.

Your current doings? I'm back to putting these currently posts on the schedule once a month.

  2. I was so appalled at the lack of some people standing up for equal pay. Everyone is talking about Trivia Crack I feel I need to give it a try. I am totally with you on removed all the processed crap out of the diet, I always feel so much better when I do.

  3. Ecolda...bwahhh! Almost spit out my coffee. Trivia Crack...what a time suck...#guiltyascharged. #noshame.
I don't get the iced coffee thing...if you would eat ice cream in January, why wouldn't you drink ice coffee? It makes sense to me. Have a great weekend!

  4. I haven't tried trivia crack and I'm almost scared to start!
The Fall... is that Gillian Anderson from X-Files I see? (Oh wait, that officially makes me old, doesn't it?) I think I need to watch that show!
Love Jill Biden's list but I would die if my official acronym were SLOTUS.
My husband and I have both mysteriously lost a few pounds in the last few weeks and the only thing we can figure out is that we're eating less junk. (Me - christmas cookies; him - beer. Ha!)

  5. LOL! ecolda is so true. my husband turns into a huge baby when he's sick and i get tired of the whining!! then i try and convince him to go back to his parents house so his mom could baby him (she totally would, too!).

  6. Is that season 1 of The Fall on Netflix? I finished it a few weeks ago and was furious they left it at a cliffhanger…or did you find season 2 somewhere?
After my Jane Austen sampler that I read over Christmas, I decided Mansfield Park might be one that I can try and enjoy.

  7. haha that ecard literally had me laughing out loud...I'm addicted to trivia crack too, how is it that we haven't started a game against each other yet?

  8. I didn't know that giving your toes a break from polish was a real thing. I've been doing that for about a month but I thought it was something I just made up :) haha! Why would anyone not want equal pay? Grrrr. Fellow Trivia Crack addict here.

  9. I screamed with joy when I got the email from Netflix that The Fall season 2 was uploaded. And then I proceeded to watch the whole season in one sitting. Amazing.

  11. I've never read any Jane Austen, but that will be part of my reading challenge for this year.

  12. Lordy, Steve sneezes and swears he has Ecolda. When I first started dating him (we were 24) he SWORE he had Pertussis aka The Whooping Cough. I'm like, dude, did you get your shots as a kid? You don't have whooping cough, you have a cold. Suck it up. LOL
I was all about the Trivia Crack, and like all games I play on my phone, I lose interest after 3 days. womp womp.
Never heard of The Fall, but that guy is hot.
I'm not reading anything currently, but your skin looks flawless in that picture.

  14. LOL on the ecards.etc. I would love for men to get their periods! It would be a hoot.
We are loving Empire. Cookie is great! So many commercials, though.
Everyone who has the snow, etc. be careful!

  15. HAHAHA at the man illness. My co-worker has been sick this week and she got off the phone with her husband yesterday and said "Oh shit he said he's getting sick..." HAHA
And the filling for the wraps looks delicious, but then again every time you post pictures of food I'm usually drooling on my keyboard.

  16. I'm excited to hear more about your healthy recipes because I know they'll either be easy or make ahead, which is about all I can handle right now. Andrew definitely had encolda this weekend. Fine, it was really the flu but you would have thought it was far worse due to the amount of whining happening. I'm not cut out for that!

  17. Hahaha seriously! Why on Earth do guys become such babies when they're sick?! I like that nail polish idea! As soon as mine are at an acceptable length I need to start doing that. I pretty much use the same 3-5 all the time & definitely own more than that.

    ReplyDelete
  18. hahaha man illness - that shit is real.
yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy Northanger!! So excited and also terrified - hope you love it.
I try to eat healthyish like 75% of the time though I am definitely the bad one in the marriage that brings home junk. Oops. But no voodoo here either, lol.
OMG Downton Abbey! I am so obsessed. I haven't heard of The Fall but I kinda want to watch it now. And I totally suck at Trivia Crack but I keep on playing.

  19. And once again I find that I will be borrowing one of your ideas. The nailpolish. Since I vowed to not buy any this year might as well work on using what I got. oh and Trivia Crack, I avoided it over the holidays then the hubbie and teens sucked me..addiction, awesomeness.

  20. Ecolda haha, classic. Love healthy easy recipes and always looking for inspiration! Don't play games, usually spend that time reading or on Pinterest but my mom likes them so I'll have to mention that to her. Jamie Dornan is EVERYWHERE right now. I used to have an obsession with serial killers so I might have to check that out.

  21. My mom got me a Starbucks card at Christmas and I went there last week and ordered something iced. They thought I was crazy. Whatever, it was like 35 degrees! Heat wave!

  25. Hahaha man illness - oh my gosh, it is so true! I looove Jill Biden's list, too!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I love The Fall! I'm so glad they finally added Season 2 with a few more episodes in it.

My toenails are on a break right now, too. It's necessary.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Are iced coffees seriously only $.99 at Dunkin right now?! If so, I'm marching right down there :-D

    ReplyDelete
  28. I've heard such good things, I need to start watching The Fall!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Hahahaha that ecard!!!!! I cant stop laughing! Mainly because it is so damn true. I had no clue DD was 9 cents for iced coffee right now! I might go by there tomorrow! I have been hitting up local places on Fridays as of late, but shit...you cant beat 99 cents! DD needs love from my wallet too, right?

I love that closed door quote. So true.

I have been trying to up my healthy eating happens to more often as well. I was doing 70/30 (being bad all weekend long) and am trying to get to 80/20 so that I can eventually be 90/10.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Great idea to go through all your nail colors once! And yeaaa to 99 cent iced coffee!

    ReplyDelete
  31. I can't decide which I love more. Jill Biden or Ecolda.

On another note, it's currently raining and I need to put bags on my shoes. Perhaps I can make it a societal norm. #SOTU

  32. A few things since I'm catching up:
    1. I'm so happy that you are going through your nail polish with me. It makes me feel less crazy about keeping track of mine.
    2. I hope you don't mind, but I'm going to use your AHS example on our customer service calls - we do remodeling in our business and I want to make sure everyone remembers how it feels on the other end.
    3. I'm clapping about the Jill Biden comment.
    4. I'm intrigued by the voodoo diet ;)

    ReplyDelete
  33. I'm an iced coffee drinker all year round! I wish we had a Dunkin here! I'm also really tempted to do some painting now but it's such a mess/commitment that I just can't take the leap and do it.

    ReplyDelete
  34. .99 cents?! I wonder if the sweet tea is .99 cents? I need to check.

I've been watching Downton Abbey too. Awesome show.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I love that ecard because is so true. I've been reading non-fiction (not sure why I'm on such a kick), watching the show Resurrection and still trying to stop procrastinating on things I really should be doing. Still enjoy an iced coffee in the winter too. Just not always in the mood for hot.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Dying laughing over the Ecolda!!! hahaha. (I mayyyyy be married to someone who suffers from that as well... bless his heart.) and oh gosh, I'm giving my toes a break for a few months too! Which means I'm wearing socks 100% of the time because they look so weird without polish, but it was just time.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Cycling through all of your nail polishes is a great idea! I have several that I haven't used in a long time, and a few that I've even forgotten that I had.

Trivia Crack is appropriately named...I can't get enough!

    Ecolda is real!!

    ReplyDelete
  38. I never give my toe nails a break. I probably should! And I definitely need to go through my nail polish that way. I cancelled my Julep subscription, but have a bunch of Jules to burn. After that, I'm done. 100+ bottles is just too much!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I just finished Season 2 of The Fall last night!! I couldn't stop watching them and feel kinda bummed that I can't watch another episode tonight, haha.
And 99 cents for an iced coffee? That's good to know especially because there is a DD about 2 minutes from my house.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Totally laughed out loud at the ecard. TRUE STORY!!! And when I saw the coffee, my first thought was how many times did she pee that day! It looks gigantic.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I'm gonna try the nail polish thing. That's a good idea. I like good ideas. Especially ones that other people come up with for me.
BITCH YOU PLAY TRIVIA CRACK?! Get at me!

    ReplyDelete
  42. That nail polish idea is great! I also have my toes on a rest for a while now actually ... it might be time to pain em. Also you look so pretty in that pic with the book!
