I want to win the Cars.com #newcarface contest so my car is paid off...I mean, doesn't everyone?

This post is sponsored by Cars.com
I see a lot of kids out on the road today with shiny new cars. Back in my day, your first car was a hand me down or a beater. It cost maybe $1,500. You cut your teeth on that car and built yourself up to something a little more respectable.

I was lucky to receive my first car from my Grandmom, so its name was Weezah. When that car bit the dust, I had the gold fox Shirley Roberts, purchased with my Dad’s guidance. My third car was a hand me down from my mom, a sweet red Cutlass. I loved that car. When the electrical system went out in that car, I knew it was time to make a serious investment in a nicer car.  I was a young professional, my car should reflect that. When I discussed it with my Dad, he simply said “Good luck! Know what you can afford.”
Wait…I’d be doing this without my Dad’s guidance? He was the car person! He was firm in pushing me out of the nest on this one. I was so nervous at the dealership that day, but I found a car I loved and I held to the budget I knew would work for me. I drove off so proud! I’m glad he sent me on my own that day. In the years since, I’ve walked into dealerships confident – in what I want, in what my current car is worth, in what I’m willing to pay for a new one, and in my car shopping abilities. Still, it would’ve been awesome if Cars.com existed back then to take the hand wringing drama out of car shopping.

The elation of buying a new car is hard to capture in a photo, but here's my attempt at a new car face:

My aunt Lori was down a few weekends ago and decided to share her new car face too, and I’d love for you to do it as well for a chance to win the cars.com promotion

  6. My sister had a sweet Cutlass Ciera with a broken gas gauge so she had a notepad to record when she filled up. Despite this flawless system my dad set up for her, she still ran out of gas all the time. LOL! Good luck in the contest!

  11. Consider anywhere between USD30-15,000. They can even sell for higher as the USD 85,000 purchase price of a very rare old Hot Wheels Red Line some years ago illustrates. I bet the kid who bought that car long ago never dreamed it could sell for this price. auto transport
