TWTW - first in October

1. Can I start off by saying last week was a sumbitch?  Friday night errands in traffic didn't help but I was sitting behind an awesome sticker. I spent the remainder of Friday night zoned out on the couch, painting my nails, and watching Gotham and Criminal Minds.
2. Saturday was Mae's fifth birthday. She celebrated by sleeping all day and being jacked off when anything interfered with that. Except cheeseburger time. All dogs celebrate birthdays with cheeseburgers in our house.
3. Weekly food prep: sausage/spinach/egg muffins for breakfasts, breakfast burritos to freeze (sausage, spinach, scrambled eggs, cheese), and a simple tortellini soup with tomatoes and spinach for lunches. Snacks are celery, cucumbers, honey crisp apples, and bananas. Dinners coming from the freezer in addition to blackened salmon and steamed veggies.
4. Fresh flowers free from The Bouqs - see yesterday's post.
5. Tavern on 17, Duel Piano Bar, and the Plough & the Stars (where I saw the Plough's famous DJ) for Aubrey's bachelorette. I meant to be an adult and leave at 11:30 and come home on the train, then meant to leave with Aubrey's mom, aunt, and sister-in-law, but I ended up staying and UBERing home. Both Kim & Laura told me they knew I would not be leaving early. I drank too much and stayed out too late, but it was fun!
6. Sunday was a do nothing day. I slept in, read magazines, ate a hoagie and wings, had buttery rice for dinner. These dog photos were taken at 2 p.m. - the time Gus demands to eat on Sundays and does his song and dance and whines like an ahole until I get up and feed him.
7. I haven't been watching TV, at all. Who am I? I caught up on Sunday: Rizzoli & Isles, How to Get Away With Murder, and the first episode of The Affair (it's On Demand).

On Mondays I'm doing a picture linkup called Picture Practice with Kelli at Just Beachy. If you'd like to participate, here are the prompts through December. Share on your blog, or if you don't blog on Twitter or Instagram every Monday with the hashtag #PicturePractice. This is my photo for the prompt building. This is the lobby of the Warwick in Rittenhouse.

Last night I kept dreaming that I just didn't show up for work today. Not cool.

Fellow PA'ers, today is your last chance to register to vote so you can vote in the November General elections. Make sure you're registered!

Tomorrow: Show Us Your Books! with Jana: what I read in September.

  1. Good Lord. Thank God Uber got you home safely. Mae is too darn cute. Cheeseburgers are birthday cake equivalent.
Very nice pictures from the bachelorette! Wedding will be here before we know it. I need to look for a building for picture practice. Never been to the Warwick and I am 58! JMJ!

  13. The tortellini soups looks good! Did you make them yourself? Share the recipe. I love soups in the colder months. And guess what? I food prepped last Sunday after grocery shopping. I was up til midnight (because I didn't get home until 10:30am) but it saved me soo much time on the weekdays. I'm gonna keep doing it! Thanks for the inspo. Looking forward to seeing what you've read in tmr's post. And cool building interior.

  14. How was "how to get away with murder" it was on my radar and I forgot to watch the pilot. Your food prep always reminds me to get my butt going and get dinners planned for the week! Happy birthday to Mae! I want to come to your house for my birthday if it involves burgers and bows ;-)

  20. The bachelorette looks like a fun time out and the dueling piano bars are always a great spot to do. Did the bride-to-be have to get up on stage and get all embarrassed? The tortellini soup looks delish.

  21. I started watching Gotham, Forever, and How to Get Away With Murder. I really need one (or more) of those shows to start sucking because it's waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much TV to be watching (along w my other regular shows).

  25. Happy Belated Birthday, Mae!! I'll have to remember that every dog deserves a Cheeseburger on their birthday...except...sadly, we don't know when our Gus was born. :(

  26. The absolute delight in Mae's face is so priceless. The bachelorette party looks like a blast, glad you had fun even if you had to pay for it the next day! ;) So jealous of your weekend!!

  27. What do you think of How to Get Away With Murder? My DVR is full from traveling, and it's low down on my priority list...

  28. All dogs seem to have that same, "Oh my god - FOOD!" expression and it's hilarious.

  29. Your dogs are SOOO cute! I want one. Our dog is medium sized and he needs a buddy but I don't want another one his size so a small one will have to do.

Your meal prep looks amazing! I need to get the stuff for an egg casserole for this week - that'll be tonight. I'm a day late on meal prep cuz we were outta town.
