  1. i fully agree with your bro's advice about time zones in the house. dinner at our house is 530am and NO TECHNOLOGY IS ALLOWED. actually, no technology is allowed after dinner either until kayla's bedtime since we spend it with her playing etc before she gets ready for bed. i would like to banish all technology as soon as each of us gets home but stupid work people have no consideration for other people's personal time and are sending work emails all the live long day.

  2. A lot like Roku, we have a net gear box (actually 2) and they change lives.
You (or your brother) should read Five Days in November. It highlights the Kennedy family in a way I've never thought of before. Or Killing Kennedy. Especially if you're a fan of the 60s! I agree about the golden age thing. I think we've left that time behind us.

  3. Yay Stephen! Thank you for talking about jury duty as a good experience. I know I'm biased as a lawyer, but I think it would be really interesting and it always annoys me when people gripe about it. I know it's terribly inconvenient, but still.

Adding Big Little Lies to my audiobook list!

  4. I agree with Iva about booty being a stress reliever! I also love music and technology free zones. We've ditched most technology from dinner to about 9pm, and it has been SUCH a stress reliever.

  5. Ugh I need to copy and paste before I comment- Not posting real well many times.
Anyway, I love this because 2 of my 3 chickens are participating. I love Iva, also, and follow her on twitter after
reading her stuff that was on your twitter. I love OCNJ- best beach family resort, best boardwalk.
I do love my smart phone. It is like reading periodicals. And I love being able to be in contact with my people all the time! I especially love when I text and a response is received when my text requires an answer.
Music soothes the soul, singing loud and proud in my open window vehicles is the best. Or a nice sing a long with people. Carpe diem! Love, your MOMMA

  6. I like Real Simple - their magazine always draws me on. Do you get the physical magazine or online subscription to device? I still haven't seen House of Cards, I'm not good with catching tv shows - I'm an "oldie but goodie" type of gal. Ha I haven't had to go to jury duty yet but when that time comes I'll be sure to do so with pride :P Happy Hump Day Steph! -Iva

  7. I feel your pain about work. It's been so crazy at work, I even had to cancel my days off. So much for taking some time off before the end of summer. I have to listen to music while at work or I would go crazy.

  8. Iva- can't believe you like Netsky! I saw him this year at Tomorrowland and freak out when anyone mentions him- he's great!

Also I always feel stupid for this but I could just never get into House of Cards.

  9. Absolutely loved this. Iva rocks my socks, and I adore her blog posts because they are so different from what I typically read. I love getting my weekly learn on from her. Plus, that photo of her? LOVE IT! "My partner knows what he's good for." Amen, sister.
Adore the photos you and Stephen, you two look so much alike. He is so right about having tach free zones in the house, something that my Stephen and I are terrible with. I yell at him, but I'm certainly just as guilty. Also, not I want to check out The Sixties.

  12. Iva's #4 - made me giggle OUT LOUD. Just wasn't expecting to read that.

Stephen's #5 - is so TRUE - When I come home - I try not to look at my phone at all - I haven't seen Klay or Emry all day - they take priority.

Your #3 - books are so important and so vital - You're the second person I "know" reading that book - it must be GOOD! Got to add it to my list of Things to Read.

  13. I love House of Cards and had to defend it to the dean of my school because he didn't find it believable. Yet he enjoys the exploits of Jack Bauer. Suspension of disbelief, people, come on! I called my husband out last night for ALWAYS being on his phone. I'm so tired of it. We may need to go to zones or hours or something because it's getting ridiculous.

  14. I like the idea of having no phone zones and times! I have been wanting to try House of Cards and if it gets your seal of approval then I think it is a must!

I love Real Simple too!!! One of my favorites!

  15. I love Iva's advice, booty is good for stress! Haha! I couldn't go a day without music. Phone free zones and times are a really good idea!!

  17. Not that you are not funny because you know how much you make me laugh...Ms Iva had me rolling...the booty comment...ain't no shame and I love that! I hate to admit this but I might die without my phone and know that is REALLY sad...

  18. I was all set to jump on the Roku bandwagon...was fed up with Comcast (no I still am fed up) but then found out my contract is a year longer than I thought it was...& while I'm still trying to get out of it it got me thinking...what about sports? What about The Walking Dead? Both incredibly lame reasons all things considered but I don't know that I'm ready to part yet...we'll see.

  19. I love Real Simple- I always find really useful articles and/or tips. I have a technology free dinner and bed times. I need to learn more about this Roku. I want to cut cable and am currently trying to decide between Roku and the Google Chromecast stick thingy.

  21. Iva does have really cool posts! It blows my mind some of the stuff that she comes up with... I'm definitely not smart enough to be writing shit like she does, haha!
I love going to places I went as a kid. We've gone to the country fair every year for as long as I can remember... every time I go back it's like being little again... it's comforting. :)
I literally had 8 magazine subscriptions but have canceled them all w/in the past year or so. Once I started blogging, I got sick of reading recommendations from people who were getting PAID to say good things.

  22. Such a great idea for a post! Too many things to comment on but I'm curious to research more about this Google card. Your brother has some wise advise with visiting childhood places...it honestly brings back so much joy and memories for me when I go home to visit my parents and visit the same places we frequented for fun/food/family time. Lastly, K just started watching House of Cards this week and is hooked! I need to get the scoop from him.

  24. I LOVE The Sixties. I think I still have four episodes to watch. They are just so well done and totally engrossing. I finished Big Little Lies last weekend. Just like her other books, the payoff in the end is so great!
