TWTW - last in April version

Friday night I managed to get to the liquor store, Sam's, and the grocery store before the skies opened up. I prepped fruits (pineapple, strawberries, cantaloupe) and veggies (red and yellow peppers, cucumbers, celery, carrots) for the week before picking KVSR and her dog Bucey up at the train station. We had wine and cheese and talk for dinner, then we watched the dogs jackass around. Mae and Geege loved having Bucey to play with. Gus surveyed his kingdom with disregard for dog foolishness.
Saturday KVSR and I picked Kelly up from the airport, met Kim for lunch at Brother's, stopped to see Laura's mom and brother and pick up our bridesmaid dresses, and then headed to Kim's shower hosted by her cousins and aunt. Kelly and I did a twin photo shoot - she was wearing flip flops before so it was even better.
The house was amazing, the decor was beautiful, and the food and company were excellent. I saw some friends I haven't seen in many years and am excited to see them again at the wedding. It was nice to see Kim's mom too, it's been too long since I've seen her as well. The shower ended with a spectacular show.
We were pooped after a long day and wound down with some wine and yoga pants on my couches.
On Sunday, the Boston contingent left early. MFD went out to work at 10 a.m. After dropping KVSR off at her parents' house, I spent the afternoon in a silent house save for the washer and dryer humming, surrounded by sleeping dogs exhausted from playing with a puppy, drinking coffee and reading a book. I didn't turn the TV on once, not even for the Flyers. Bliss.

Other Sunday things:
-Quinoa egg bake for breakfasts this week (bottom photos 1 & 2, quinoa sinks to the bottom to form a crust)
-Mac & cheese with ham for Sunday dinner

On Mondays I'm doing a picture thing with Kelli at She Crab Soup. If you'd like to participate, here are the prompts through July. This is my photo for the prompt shadow.
No. Just Gus.
How the F is next weekend the first weekend in May already?

Tomorrow: She-Ra power breakfast muffins.

  3. Bahahahaha @ the Yoda shadow! :)
That quinoa egg bake looks DELICIOUS! Pete was trying to make something along those lines yesterday but we couldn't think of anything to use as the crust. Next time... next time!

  4. I need to give quinoa another chance. Shower stuff looks beautiful. I can't believe it is this COLD and almost May.
April flew by, like time has been doing. I just had a baby kale green mixture from Sam's in with cream of asparagus
soup I made on Thursday. Odd breakfast, but what I wanted. I love the baby kale better than the adult kale.
Maisel in the laundry basket is adorable. Carpe diem! Love your Momma

  6. You didnt miss anything not watching the Flyers. The game was fucking atrocious.
You and your Twinsie Kelly look fantastic, and Kim's family threw what looks like a beautiful shower.
Yoda Gus. I dig it <3

  8. I totally agree on "how is it may?!" Colin woke me up out of a dead sleep on Sunday morning and was like, "OMG ITS APRIL 27TH CAN YOU BELIEVE IT!?"

  9. Mae in the laundry basket is way too freaking adorable!!! What a good helper!

I love that Gus will have no part of Shenanigans. Someone has to be the king. He does his job well!

I am really confused how next weekend is May ready and I believe we need a recount of April...there surely is at least week or two missing?!

  10. Are those giant crackers with the cheese or slices of bread? I am perplexed.

We watched the Flyers game, and while I don't really care, it was not good. The Phillies won though!

Not having the TV on sometimes is effing amazing. So quiet and peaceful. I don't know why I don't do it more often.

  11. Those sunset pictures are gorgeous!

Barkley and Gus would get along so well, surveying all the nonsense from their thrones.

    Nothing beats a quiet house.

    I'd like a cupcake.

  26. The sky after the shower - amazing! And your Sunday sounded really nice too - minus the sound of the laundry. My favorite is Yoda. OMG. That is awesome! Gus has a great shadow!

  27. Mmmmm that quinoa egg bake looks deelish!!!

  28. Oh King Gus. I have a feeling that Quincy and Gus would be the best of friends. Quincy likes to observe (but he doesn't like to be the boss) so I think he could be his advisor.

  29. "then we watched the dogs jackass around" <---- may have made me snort ha. Those sunset pictures are gorgeous.

  30. Prepping for parties (even small ones) is just utterly exhausting. The favors look adorable though. Great colors.

  31. Spectacular show for sure! Is there really anything better than after a long weekend of getting into some comfy pants and drinking wine on the couch?? That is exactly how mine ended on Sunday as well!

  32. That sky is gorgeous! Yoga pants and wine on the couch is my favorite...followed closely by a silent house and good book.
