TWTW - Thanksgiving Edition

Our weekend was spent upstate at Lori & Jack's. They have the perfect Thanksgiving house.
This is a long one, so get comfortable.
My dogs know it as Dog Disney. They can run free and scamper through the woods. Geege especially considers it a grand adventure. This was Mae's first time there and she did really well even though it was too cold for her to go on long walks.
Me, Debbie, MFD & our dogs arrived on Wednesday. Thursday my other aunt and uncle and my cousin arrived.
We had a great meal with fabulous food. Stuffed doesn't cover it. Lori, Perry and I decided to walk the dogs in the woods.
1 - Unfortunately we found out Perry's shoes were made of wax paper.
2 - He fell. A lot. When the pictures are blurry, it's because I am bent over shaking from laughing so hard.
3 - He tried four times, then
4 - Slid backwards into a tree and broke it in half.
5 - Finally made it up the hill
6 - Only to fall on the trail. This is obviously him getting up. When he was laid out like Randy in A Christmas Story, I also fell to my knees because I was laughing so hard. That's how we roll in my family. As long as no one gets hurt falling is funny.
Friday we made our way around to a bunch of small businesses for our annual Sleigh Ride - we use two cars, walkie talkies, and eleventy billion F bombs.
Saturday was coffee, lunch in Montrose, playing outside with the dogs, college football (holler, Auburn) and more lounging. It was heavenly.
We were home early Sunday. I raked leaves and decorated inside for Christmas, one of my most hated things to do. So much lugging of so much shit up and down stairs.
So why not add to it with other heavy lifting projects?
1 - Our bed as it was
2 & 3 - our bed as it is now, soon to be replaced with a king sized bed. HALLELUJAH.
4 - And I decided to rip the office apart to change it into a closet room, so all the shit from the office is laying willy nilly around one of the spare rooms. This will drive me to the brink of insanity knowing this mess exists upstairs. I should have the office mostly done in a week or two. Hold steady, fragile self.
1 - I made turkey stock out of the frozen carcass in the downstairs freezer, then I turned it into turkey soup. I also used the stock in the savory oatmeal I made for this week's breakfasts.
2 - Dinner was wild basmati rice, veggies, and chicken marinated in light sesame dressing.

I also did seven loads of laundry, watched Ghost Busters, and popped advil like it was candy after all the heavy lifting I did during the day. MFD got home and looked at me like I was insane which, clearly, I am.

All of those things

It's December. Amazing. Where does the time go and all that jazz, even though 2013 is not a year I'll be sad to see go.

  1. Boy, that looks like an amazing Thanksgiving. What a beautiful place!

I said I was going to decorate for Christmas on Sunday, but I just didn't. I hate decorating too. I just put up the stuff I had already brought upstairs earlier in the week lol.

Glad you had a good holiday!

  4. Waxed paper shoes... hahahahahahaha!
I HOPE to get my sorry ass around to decorating today; unfortunately, vacuuming is a prerequisite duty and we all know how I feel about that!
    LOVE MFD's hat!

  6. Hola, December! I too am not sad to see 2013 heading out the door. Hope it doesn't get kicked in the ass on the way out! Pugapalooza pics are my favorite! They are too cute! I am glad my family isn't the only family that is evil and laughs at the expensive of others who fall. You know, as long as no one is seriously injured. If there is injury, we wait a year before we laugh about it haha. :)

I was unaware that you were an Auburn fan. Despite that huge flaw, we can still be friends. I just don't think traffic cone orange is flattering on anyone.

  18. The weekend goes down in the books as the best, so many happy and fun memories. Will never get old Perry slip, sliding away. Your decorations look fabulous as does the new bed arrangement. Your welcome for cementing the need for a king size bed and artificial tree.

  20. Those outdoor photos are amazing! What a beautiful place. The falling down series? Hilarious! I wasn't even there and I'm laughing out loud! I love that you used walkie talkies! So fun! I hate decorating too. I love it when it's done, but man it's a lot of work. I skipped about half of our stuff this year, mostly because I just didn't feel up to it, but also, because it was easy to blame it on safeguarding from the kittens.
