Thursday Thoughts...your weekly dose of random shit

via
1. Before we begin the Christmas music season, let me be the first to hate on that horrifying Christmas Shoes song for the following reasons: a) no one wants to hear wrist slitting music at the holidays b) Jesus does not care about what type of shoes you wear when you die c) read a and b one hundred more times and never play that song ever.

2. Not even the hotness that is Ian Somerhalder can make me continue to watch The Vampire Diaries. I'm out. I've had enough of that wishy washy whiny bitchass Elena, EMO Jeremy, poor dead delusional Bonnie, and sensitive vampire man Stefan. Send Caroline and Damon to The Originals and let's call it a day.

3. If you've read here for a while, you'll know that I abhor UGGs. I have an even better reason to now that it's come out that they are shaving the SKIN off of sheep along with the wool. I am fucking dying over this in a bad way. It is awful. Check it out.

4. Does the world at large know that the correct way to say it is should have/could have and not should of/could of?

5. Why can't I be better at flossing? By the time I'm ready to go to sleep I am literally dropping into bed. I'm gross.

6. Have you guys heard of the Sandman Slim series? I'm reading the third one. They're easy reads but entertaining. Check them out. Also check out Another Clean Slate's most recent book round up. I added The Girl You Left Behind and The Silent Wife to my to read list.
7. I've purchased seven Christmas gifts. HO HO effing HO, mofos! And bags from the Dollar Store because there is zero reason to spend more than $1 on a bag. Overall, I don't buy for a ton of people, so this put a big dent in my list. I am okay with shopping in advance, I try to do it throughout the year to spread out expenses, but no Christmas decor or music in my house until after Thanksgiving.
8. This past weekend was my first time brining a turkey. That shit was amazing and I will never roast a turkey without brining it again. Do you brine?

9. Another Bieber sex story in the news. His team is working really, really  hard to try to convince the world he's into girls. Bieber, gay is okay. Being a douche is not. Sorry, we can't help you there.
10. Ecard of the week EVEN THOUGH the period is outside of the quotation mark, incorrect use of it's/its, an inexplicable capitalization (why can't ecard makers all be grammar wizards? WHY?), etc,:

BOOM goes the dynamite.

What else, let's see...oh yes. I carried a watermelon.
Happy Thursday, y'all.

  1. ugh bieber is such a huge douchecanoe. i heard that he's the least liked celebrity in australia and his ticket sales for his concert aren't even selling and are now going for half price. when i heard that, i laughed. it is not ok to be a dickwad just because you're a celebrity!!

i'm holding onto a very thin thread for VD but how caught up are you with SOA? because tuesday's episode was a jaw-dropper.

  2. I think that some people (the educated ones who paid attention in 2nd grade) left phonetic spelling behind in elementary school. I guess 90% of my Facebook friends didn't get that "should've" is a contraction but "should of" is not what it stands for.
I'm getting particularly stabby over the fact that parents of my students are spelling things wrong online, in notes to me, etc.

  3. AHHH Christmas Shoes it the WORST!! I hate that song! Christmas music should be happy or churchy. End of story. Also, I have purchased ZERO Christmas gifts. Zero.

  4. I am not familiar with this Christmas Shoes song so I think I need to find it. I love the Christmas bags and will now take a trip to the Dollar Store before all the good stuff is gone. The of/have makes me bananas and you nailed it with Bieber, as always.

  5. I love that you kids love that we just give you a nice check on Christmas. I love to buy the perfect gift, but know that the $$ is better for all of you. I overbuy on gift wrapping, tho. I always have a stash, including bags. The Sam's has an excellent Hallmark 12 gift bag deal for under $10. Nice, sturdy bags, too. Turkey brining was good for our bird, too, on the smoker last week, but, I have never had a dry bird. I roast to 150- put the lid on when I remove from the oven. Breast meat is divine, the legs and wings can always be finished in the oven separately. This is good for making 2 turkeys, which I have often done, since the smell of the turkey appendages in the oven is great and they are good and ready to eat at dinner. Just a helpful hint.
    Enjoy this sunny day!
    Love your MOMMA

  6. LMAO at your Vampire Diaries rant. I still watch, but it has not only jumped the shark, it stabbed the shark in the heart with a torn-off table leg, and then drained it of its blood before executing a perfect triple axle over it during a monsoon.

  7. i dont mean to jump the gone or anything but i am pretty sure this is my favorite post ever. Boom goes the dynamite. Also, I have uggs (hangs head in shame) but after seeing that earlier this week I finally have the reason I needed to justify the purchase of teal Hunter boots that have been calling my name!

  8. I totally saw the Uggs thing on FB this week and it made me hate them even more! Not only do they make you look like you have clubbed feet, but they are made from maiming sheep! :( Bad form! (said in Captain Hook accent)

Also, I love the Dollar Store gift bags! I don't do their wrapping paper because I've found it's thinner and doesn't hold together as well as the thicker and more expensive stuff. But the bags are awesome!

  9. My Dad loves the song Christmas shoes and they turned it into a movie last year. I hate UGGs with a vengeance!! I added 3 books from Kate's list including The Silent Wife. Why won't Bieber go away, annoying!! Is the last one for MFD??

  10. We buy our turkey already brined from a local farm. It is ah-maz-ing (and less work for meeeeee!)

    Thanks for carrying a watermelon.

  11. " HO HO effing HO, mofos!"...hahaha. I laughed throughout this whole post. I never thought about Bieber's peeps trying to convince us...you're probably right. I am brining my first turkey this weekend! A tad nervous.

  12. I buy the turkey already brined at Trader Joe's... I brined once, and had a colossal mess in the fridge. But brined is the way to go!!!!! So moist! And that shoe song makes me change the station every time... it's (note correct use of it's) the worst song in the history of Christmas music. As for Uggs, I'm glad to know this, but I have none. I do however, have a pair of Emus for frigid weather dog walking... do they hurt the sheep? And I could of written this more eloquently, but I would of ruined the moment if I had.

  13. Congrats on the purchasing of 7 presents already! I only have 2 bought and I have a shit ton of nieces and nephews so thanks for once again making me feel like a lazy ass. I do plan on knocking that shit out on Black Friday with my mom though! Give me all the deals. VD makes me so sad, but we have already talk about this. I am holding on by one string. Anymore weird shit and I am out.

Once I finish my Harry Potter Books (because I am 12 and about 10 years behind on the times) I need to look at your reading list!

  14. Should of drives me bonkers, I can't handle it.
Caroline is my favorite, Caroline and Rebekah. I <3 blondes :)

  15. Aaron is big on brining and last year our neighbor did an amazing brine for us in which she just raided our cupboards and put I-don't-know-what-all in there.

I'm not an early present buyER usually, but I have some that I purchased in Europe.

I think it's pretty funny that the "its" error in the ecard is opposite of the normal error. And don't get me started on "should of."

    1. Oh yeah, and I despise that Christmas shoes song.

  16. I have never brined a turkey. I actually don't even know what goes into brining a turkey. This should come as no surprise to you. The Christmas Shoes song makes me want to steer my car in the path of a deer. Although, I would totally wear those sneaks if I were going to meet Jesus. The Biebs.... No. Just no.

  17. the christmas shoes- thank you. god awful. i can't believe that about uggs. I wear fake uggs from target. but still. horrible. hahaha should of. wow. i have purchased 0 christmas gifts. i do brine the turkey. but only once in my life have i done that. bieber just go away.

  18. The Dollar store is the best place in the world to get bags, bows, cards, and any other holiday related item may need!!! I love that place.

  19. #1 and #4 - THANK YOU. Someone had to say it.

It's a good thing I think Uggs are UGG-ly because that's really sad.

I didn't think I could dislike that little twerp Bieber any more but apparently its possible.

  20. lmfao. this was great. hahahahahha so funny about beiber

  21. I'm thrilled to report that I've never heard that stupid ass Christmas Shoes song.

  22. I HATE the Xmas Shoes song. It's the worst. And Bieber is a douche.

  23. FUCK. YES. The Christmas Shoes song needs to DIE. Painfully. I read that article about the Uggs, too. So sad and just disgusting. I get SO irritated when people say "could/should of" instead of "could/should HAVE". It just doesn't make any SENSE. Like, say it out loud to yourself. WTF?? The last comment by far is the best. hahah

    ReplyDelete
  24. I officially hate UGGs even more now. And the should have thing. Come on. We are lucky when people use complete words these days. Totes, Adorbs.... let alone the right way to say the word. Shoulda taken another English class. Hahaha

  25. AHHH -#4!!! What is up with that?!!! It's like an epidemic! Haven't heard the song, and wanted to Google it but maybe I just shouldn't...

  26. I'm glad you share my love of the word Douche. I saw a douche on Sunday at Costco. He was wearing a "neon" polo shirt with matching sunglasses. Mind you, it was 22 degrees and the wind chill was 19. He was too cool for school to wear a coat. Douche! I only wish I had thought to snap a picture.

  27. Beiber is SUCH a douche. I hope he is gay, that he learns to accept it, and then calms the eff down. I think people confuse "should of" with "shoulda". I actually read a whole article on all the saying people makes mistakes with, and it was hilarious!
