I like TV.

If you don't like TV, that's cool. If you consider yourself a superior being and passive aggressively let people how much better you are than them because you don't watch TV, then you're an asshole.
I read a shitload of books every year that balance out my TV watching...38 so far this year, which is over four per month. Even without that caveat, I have no problem admitting my close personal relationship with a lot of shows. Plus, TV watching allows me to multitask.
I can watch TV and hausfrau: putting things away, folding laundry, dusting, sorting mail. Vacuuming is done in between shows, laundry is circulated during commercials, food is prepped while something is paused. I've got my system down.

I can watch TV and do arm and leg exercises. Crunches too...just kidding, who does those? People who are not me.

I can watch TV and read a book or magazine. A lot of TV is not rocket science, nor is doing two things at once.

I watch more TV than ever thanks to the DVR, which allows me to blaze through commercials as well as to not watch something for weeks and catch up on it one night or Sunday.
What are you watching this fall? Shows I'm trying out are in red. My list holds no candle to my friend Gwen's, who is the TV Queen. Check hers out here.

  1. my husband is THE KING of TV; seriously i don't know how he knows ALL ABOUT every show on every channel.

i LIVE for tv and i haven't read a book in months (maybe close to a year??!) so no balancing act here; i ain't even sorry about that either. but i'm looking forward to agents of shield, *chicago fire*, parenthood, homeland, *vampire diaries*. there are a few new shows that looked good but i can't remember the names.

  2. I'm ridiculously excited for Homeland! It's on my calendar. Some people put social events in their planners, I fill it in with t.v. shows.
Also, I'm having a Breaking Bad finale get-together next week.
I have the same cleaning system you do. I set the timer for 15 minutes between episodes and clean until it goes off.

  3. I love tv for multitasking too. I've recently made a baby blanket for a friend's new baby while working my way through Rules of Engagement. I get my blogging done during NCIS, and last night folded laundry along with Grey's Anatomy. :)

I'm most excited for How I Met Your Mother. Also Big Bang Theory and Revenge. :)

  4. I'm finally getting on the Homeland train. We watched the pilot last night.

Of course I'm a TV watching multitasker, too. Thanks for the shout out!

  5. I am so excited for Homeland but I don't have Showtime so I will have to catch it online. I love New Girl and Dads too. Parenthood is a good tearfest! Oh how I love commercial breaks as I get to sprint around seeing how much I can get done before the show starts again! :)

  6. I'm most excited for Blacklist. I've loved James Spader since Mannequin came out in 1986.

Have fun at the wedding!! Beautiful day!!!

  7. I have no idea how we survived without DVR. I mean seriously? It would never fail that I would set the VCR wrong or the tape would run out. First world problems I tell you!

    Have a good weekend!!

  8. Seriously love the DVR. I also do a lot of things while watching TV, unless it's Grey's or Nashville - then I watch with my full attention!

We only watch two of the same shows - Nashville and Modern Family.

    Have a fun wedding weekend!

  9. Having the TV on most of the time is very normal for us- not watching- it's just on. For the pups when we go out, too. If we lose power, I feel like I am in a 3rd world country or a black and white world with no TV!!!
Wishing Laura and Chris happy hearts foreva!!!!!!!!

    Love your MOMMA

  13. T thinks it's funny that I like to watch tv while I'm reading or blogging. He said you aren't paying attention (he just wants the remote) but I do know what's going on. It's just like when I was in school. I would do homework while listening to the radio. Mom would always say, you are comprehending any of that... but I was. Happy Friday! I can't wait for our new seasons to start! Enjoy your weekend, and thanks for linking up!

  19. I love t.v.. When people say to me "I do not watch t.v., I do not like t.v." I reply "I love t.v. so much." Nothing to be said after that.

  20. Every time I think Seth MacFarland has "jumped the shark," they come out with something even funnier. I still have faith in Peter. I am a huge fan of Bob's Burgers, too. I am animation domination. I have Brooklyn Nine Nine on DVR and can't wait to see the return of Sean Hayes. I am the worst at trying out new shows because every time I fall in love with a show, it's too smart for mainstream America and is cancelled. I heart TV (and I do not make up for it with reading)!

  21. I am so jealous of your ability to multitask! I can't do anything else while I read so sadly I normally choose TV over anything educational.

  22. Listen up, I need to you add Bob's Burgers to your sunday night adult cartoon list. It is my new favorite things.

    THE COVEN. I can't wait!

  23. I don't watch a ton of TV, mainly because EVERY time I like a new show, it is inevitably canceled. So I've stopped trying. The only ones I watch have escaped the curse and are: Parks and Rec, Big Bang, New Girl, Chicago Fire, my AMC shows, and I have finally jumped on the Sons of Anarchy bandwagon.

Also 19 Kids and Counting. Don't judge me. I can't look away.

Oh, and people who say they never watch TV? I'm pretty sure they're liars.
