the weekend that was - last in June style

F   R   I   D   A   Y
Hausfrauing like a boss / dinner a la MFD - roasted potatoes, steamed broccoli, broiled flounder / homemade peach and blueberry popsicles / energy bites for the week (both recipes on tomorrow's blog)
S   A   T   U   R   D   A   Y
Nails and toes in Zoya America / lounging with the dogs / Farmer's Market / Target
Cold brewed iced coffee dregs / A fresh pitcher of iced coffee / a patriotic trifle
Cupcake kids at CJ's graduation party / My new Erin Condren planner makes me swoon
We decided to take Dutch out for a good time to take his mind off of his brain tumors. We support you DD! He had a great time at the Sannelli's annual summer party. So did we.
I am so lucky to still be so close to so many long-time friends, and to share memories and laughs with them on a regular basis. So many laughs it feels like my kidneys will burst out of my body. I'm also glad that we keep adding new friends and partners, and our group and bond grows every year.
Leah did some fire hooping, and MFD and Chris were fools with an ice fist game that had no point.

I slept in, then did food prep for the week. Check tomorrow's blog for that! Fellow bloggers, link up with your favorite recipe of the week, your meal plan, or your weekly food prep! First Tuesday of every month.
Sunday was rainy, so it was the perfect day to do some small organizational projects around the house. I purged and cleaned the refrigerator, pantry, and the nemesis junk drawer in the entryway table.
I finished Pillars of the Earth. That was a big mama, 983 pages. I think it was good, but I thought the characters were treated as people the story happened to and not really developed as characters, which annoys me. I started Mermaids in the Basement by Michael Lee West.

Then I sat down with this pretty little lady and my sharpie pens and went to town. Are Erin Condren planners worth $50? Stay tuned, I will report back after I give it a go.
Johnny D and Vincent joined us for Sunday dinner: london broil, veggies, sweet potatoes, pasta salad (thrown together, I'll put the mix on tomorrow's blog), cherry pie (Sam's) and vanilla ice cream (homemade).
After that, I made some lists and kept up with some Kardashians, and that's all she wrote.

Three day week, let's do this.

  3. I'm ready for the popsicle recipe... bring it! And do those sharpies bleed through your planner? I am being super paranoid and only using the sharpies with the silvery barrel that say they don't leak through. I wonder how long that will last, though? Super jealous of your productivity - looks like a great weekend!

I've seriously been debating about getting a planner. I would use it most definitely but I'm wondering if its basically the same as a planner you could get anywhere. Thoughts?

  21. I would love if you could meal plan for me. I tried last night and then had a glass of wine and watched Real Housewives of New Jersey and went to bed thinking I forgot something. My planner was NEXT TO ME on the couch and I didn't touch it. Oops. And, the fire hooping is pretty bad ass.

  25. I can't wait to read the Erin Condren post. I like my Lilly one pretty well, but I hate the extra 6 months. I do not have any need for an 18 month calendar. It aggravates me. And I have some control issues ... can you talk about how much you got to "make" your own planner? Like how much decision making with layout, etc is involved? I take planners very seriously. :) Seeing all those lil Sharpies is exciting! :)

  26. Busy weekend!! You are so good about doing projects/organizing on weekends. I need your motivation! I'll be interested to hear what you think of your planner. I just don't get why people spend so much on that. I use my iPhone calendar for free and love it!! :)

  27. Seems like you have a busy weekend! Those pugs are so adorable!! I love colored sharpies for my to-do list. Makes it so much more pretty!

  28. You did all that... you put me to shame!

PS - I hope that picture of the junk drawer was AFTER the purge...if not... I call bullshit..
