the fourth of july weekend that was

It was a long one, friends. Ready, set, go...

W E D N E S D A Y
We walked the dogs, ate at our favorite pizza place (Brother's in Langhorne), went to Target, and watched Under the Dome.

T H U R S D A Y
1. Happy birthday, America.
2. Early morning drop off: MFD was lost to mummery for the day.
3. My dogs are red, blue, and sort of white all year long with their leashes.
4. I went to Redner's and Produce Junction at 8 am and both were blissfully empty. Pictured: my $2 flowers of the week.
5. Batter, which I ate a lot of...
6. For peach cobbler cookies, recipe courtesy of Lindsey at Follow the Ruels
1. I headed to Mom's to spend the day in the pool and blow through my large pile of magazines.
2. Beer can chickens in the smoker.
3. My one drink of the day as the driver.
4. Delicious dinner, then home to battle the fireworks all night beside the psychotic Geege while Gus slept. I also tried Pitch Perfect again and liked it this time. I watched Wanderlust - meh aside from the hilarious scene with Paul Rudd talking to himself in the mirror.

F R I D A Y
1. Poolside again. This is the life. MFD was trolling around in the background talking biz on the phone.
2. MFD and Mom
3. I love a popsicle on a hot day...
4. A beautiful hot day.
5. How Yogi stares at you when you're in the pool.
6. Dinner: hotdogs and hamburgers, macaroni salad with shrimp and crabmeat, cucumber salad, and corn off the cob.

S A T U R D A Y
Some hausfrauing and hoagie dip making in the morning, followed by Buj's 50th celebration.  A lovely day in the pool with friends enjoying drinks and good food.

Then I came home and cleaned up dog puke in seven different spots. Thanks Gus! Goodnight.

S U N D A Y
1. A hotdog, cheese, and green onion omelet. Yes, hotdog. I watched My Week with Marilyn and The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel in the morning as well.
2. Weeding, watering, flower bed clean up = sweating buckets.
3. Dinner - steamed broccoli, roasted sweet potatoes coated in local honey and a sprinkle of salt, fresh corn and tomato salad with EVOO and balsamic vinegar, chicken cutlets.
4. My awesome new door decor courtesy of the very talented Claire, my BFF Jenn's mom. She's starting her own business, more to come on that!

Reading (Six Years by Harlan Coben, finished it), TV (Dirty Dancing, The Killing, The Kardashians), dog snuggling and laundry to round out the four day weekend. Guess what else is four days? My week. Boom.

I hope you had an exceptional Fourth.

  1. I liked Pitch Perfect too. And I'm looking forward to the door dec business info. Poor Gus. And poor Geege. Holidays in the summer are such a drag... for dogs, anyway.

  7. Love that door decor and I also love popsicles. Jealous of the pool time. You reminded me that I barely started Six Years but then set it aside and forgot about it. I also watched Pitch Perfect (again) but I love it. Peach cobbler cookies look yummy!
