the cape may weekend that was

I'm baaa-aaack. Back from a four day weekend mostly spent beachfront in Cape May, NJ, with four of my girlfriends. We stayed at the Mt. Vernon on the beach. It was funny, fabulous, stress-free, hot, beautiful, full and perfect. Can I live next to the beach? Please? Things are always better by the sea. I won't give a play by play, but I'll dose you with some pictures.

Cape May is the southernmost beach in New Jersey, and it's an awesome little town. The nation's oldest resort, the entire city is a National Historic District with nearly 600 preserved Victorian buildings. The gardens in this town are amazing too. Just gorgeous. Some scenes from around town:
Friday frolicking:
1 - bottles on the beach / 2 - barefoot strolling / 3 - the gloaming on the beach / 4 - Beautiful skies / 5 - the house I want / 6 - Comfort station = bathroom / 7 - they're in a boat / 8 - I'm doing Mr. Miyagi on the lifeguard stand after eleventy billion glasses of red wine and I didn't break my face / 9 - The Rusty Nail Bar

Good food all weekend, including spaghetti & meatballs on the beach on Sunday night:
Beach scenes, including mimosas and men in tiny bathing suits:
We were either on the beach or walking - lots and lots of walking. We were on the beach for about three hours Friday night, 7.5 hours Saturday, and 10 hours on Sunday. We laughed, we cried, we read, we eavesdropped, we swam, we slept, we shared, we fell, we ate, we drank, then we laughed some more - sweet free out of control hilarious laughing until our stomachs hurt. Utter relaxation and beauty.
Thank you ladies for a fabulous weekend.

One thing that did not make it home with me: my beach chair. I noticed it cracking on one arm and mentioned it was probably time to replace it. I shit you not, that chair heard me and made me pay. After I said that, I broke my sunglasses, my thermos, a sand shovel, and anyone near me dropped and broke things too. The chair was cursing me. Sayonara, shitface. You have been replaced with the Escalade of beach chairs.
Do you take weekends for yourself, to just be who you are and recharge?

We are doing a girls weekend in Columbus at the end of August, and while there is no beach involved, I can't wait.
