Petting fluffy unicorns must feel like Friday

What does that title even mean? I don't know. My brain is scrambled eggs. I'm glad it's Friday.

1. Of course I own Dirty Dancing attire. I've had the time of my life, mofos.
2. Please make The Striped Flamingo's buffalo cauliflower bites. They are fabulous. Do yourself a favor and do not add additional sauce to the flour mixture. Do it just as April made it. Click here for the recipe.
3. I made The Weary Chef's layered southwest chicken casserole Wednesday. Yum. MFD ate two and a half servings.
4. I've been on a reading tear this week:
  • A Hundred Summers. Read it. Now!
  • Someday, Someday, Maybe. I liked it. I had a tough time in the beginning, but it picked up a little. I hope there's another book coming, I wanted to know all about the happily ever after. Do you hear me Lauren Graham? Get cracking.
  • The Last Summer of the Camperdowns - I started this at the beach, it didn't lure me in, but I'm not ready to give up on it just yet. I'm setting it aside for a minute.
  • The Inn at Lake Devine - Currently reading. I just want to do nothing else but read this.
5. Geege has been a hard core sleeper this week. He's having the worst time with the two minutes at a time he's outside in this awful heat. Yesterday I rode the train home in an overcrowded car that lost air conditioning five minutes into the ride. The heat index was 106. All it takes is a few people with BO to make it awful, and there were a few people with BO. Good fucking grief. I got home, put my pajamas on, and went to bed. I did not eat dinner, pass go, or collect $200. So I feel you, Geege.
Have a beaut of a weekend! I hope we get some relief from the wretched hellish heat and humidity in the northeast.

  2. Wow, that casserole looks amazing! Tonight I am attempting pitas with chicken, homemade tzaziki (sp?) sauce and cucumber relish. No doubt we'll be calling for pizza not long after.

    Happy weekend my love! <3

  3. Even I think it's too oppressive.
Grateful for AC and HOO! Breaking tomorrow with storms that will not be bad(creatively visualizing)
Stay cool, eat light, alcohol makes you hotter.
    Happy Friday!

    Love your Momma!

  4. those summer reading books look great, almost as great as that dirty dancing t-shirt and the califlower bites.

  5. I am so jealous of your Dirty Dancing shirt! I need one of those in my life.

I am going to have to check out those books. I am always looking for a good read. My last couple of books have been downers. On vacation I read the book that Sandusky's victim number one wrote. Yeah... Not exactly a beach read.

I am a suburb girl 100%. I just can't do public transportation. But in my defense, St. Louis public transportation sucks balls!

Hope you have a good one!

  7. I did go out to eat last night but I was in bed at 8:10 and I could have stayed there even longer this morning.

I have a long salon appointment today so I'm planning to catch up on some reading.

  8. Oh Lord. The heat is bad in itself, but to be on a crowded train car with no AC...I can't even imagine the smells. I applaud you for not killing anyone, or getting into a fight.

  9. I've been wanting to read the Lauren Graham book. Gotta add that to the list. And my office is currently freezing, so I will send some cold vibes your way...

  10. A Hundred Summers is on my list. This heat is disgusting. But I am grateful that June was tolerable.

    Have a great weekend!

  12. Recipes are copied on to my computer, and books are added to my list. I'm reading With My Body by Nikki Gemmell. I'm not loving it so far but I'm going to stick with it.

    Yes, the heat sucks. Hard.

  13. I already liked you, but now that I've seen that Dirty Dancing getup, I REALLY like you ;) I'm not a fan of skipping dinner no matter what the weather is like. I'm hungry at all temperatures.

You are the best for sharing my casserole recipe. I'm thrilled that you liked it, and THANK YOU!

  15. I LOVE that shirt.

So I found a pin for the buffalo cauliflower and made them earlier this week...but I definitely used too much sauce. They were still yummy though! I will try her method :)

    Have a wonderful weekend!
