the first weekend in June that was

Seriously? How the shit is it June?

Nails: Essie Sunday Funday. Sorry for the shitty iPhone photos, but these dogs were all nuzzly BFFs and I couldn't even take the cuteness. We watched The Five Year Engagement and found it depressing.

Up and out early for our nephew's baseball game, a short visit with MFD's parents, then home to hausfrau and make corn dip.
BBQ at Falling Rock Manor hosted by DJ and Heather. Pinatas, drinks, parents, a nice breeze, and fabulous grilled and smoked meats by DJ.
A nightcap at Katie O's. We were the youngest people in the place by 30 years or so. All of these people in their 60s and 70s were up cutting a rug, and we had the best time watching them dance. The Cupid Shuffle came on during the band break, and MFD got himself out there with all the seniors. He was like I JUST HAVE TO DANCE. I felt like I was in Footloose. It was great to see him out there, but his leg couldn't take even the one dance, so we left shortly after.

Coffee in a pug mug with a pug.

A trip to Sam's where a kid in heelies ramming into old people and me made me lose my shit, a viewing of the terrible American Reunion, and some blogging in the afternoon.

Weekly meal plan and food prep. Do you do weekly food prep or meal planning? Link up tomorrow with Casa de Crews and me!

Three day work week here, y'all. MFD is heading to FL for his Uncle Don's funeral. Uncle Don was great man and is gone too suddenly, too soon. Peace and love to his kids and family. I know Uncle Don and Aunt Cathy are up in heaven dancing with their matching Hawaiian shirts and while I will miss him, that thought makes me smile. I am heading to OCMD with my family for my brother's 30th birthday celebration. It will not be the same without MFD. We will both be with our families celebrating lives in two very different ways and running up the texting machines for sure.

Good stuff coming this week: Tuesday Meal Plan Shebang tomorrow, Wednesday Pearls of Wisdom from June Babies, Thursday Pickle Things from Confessions of a Domestic Wanna-be, and Friday Beauty Things with Scissorhands. Stay tuned, mofos.

  1. I found the 5 year engagement depressing as well! It wasn't quite what I expected it to be. And can we talk about the pug cuteness you have going on? My goodness....just freakin adorable...I cant handle it!

  2. June already is right! Time keeps flying by!!!
Temps back down for the week!
    Loving this time of year.
    Carpe diem, all!

    Love your MOMMA

  3. I can't stop looking at the photo of your pup (Geege??) giving you a scathing look as you drink from your pug mug. HAHAHA.

  4. Thank God Mom! Heat and humidity make me rage!

  5. I love when old people dance!!! :)

Why do you always have the best looking weekends ever!?

  6. I love dance parties and I love even more when I happen upon karaoke for the seniors. Also, I totally agree with you on 5 year engagement. I was not a fan.

  7. I didn't care for the five year engagement either. And the ending, weird.

  8. So sorry to hear about MFDs Uncle Ron. Prayers and good wishes to the fam.

I'm not sure which IG photo of MFD I liked best... Cupid Shuffle or Dunkin!

  9. I wasn't a big fan of The 5 Year Engagement either.

love the pug mug with a pug!

  10. haha sometimes i love it when we are the youngest at a place, it just makes for great people watching. and yes, how in the world is it june?

  11. Ditto on Five Year Engagement. It was just ... odd. Also, I couldn't take the professor seriously since he was Spike in Notting Hill.

  12. will definitely throw some ice into my coffee now that summer's here.

  13. I hated 5 Year Engagement. So depressing and not at all what I expected.

Dancing with the middle aged crowd is fantastic. When we were on our honeymoon in SF, we went to cocktail lounge sort of place (we were by far the youngest people there by about 20 years) and there was a band playing and all the middle aged people busting a move on the dancefloor. It was fantastic. We wowed them with our wedding dance lesson skills.

  14. I don't know why but images of sixty year olds dancing their hearts out, cracks me up! I bet that'll be me someday after a few ;) As much as I love Emily Blunt and Jason Siegel, I felt the same way you did about the flick. Yay for tomorrow's link up!

  15. I'm so sorry for your loss :( Uncle Don is def in a better place and sounds like a great man.

Again, your weekend recap has me feeling like I wasted mine haha. I'm jealous of the Dunkin' Donuts. Never had it before. Boo!

    Thanks for linking up!

  16. Sorry to hear about your loss! But even in the mist of loss, y'all had another fab weekend!! LOVE those two pictures of Gus and Geege! So sweet!! And yes, the 5 year engagement was AWFUL! Happy Monday!

  17. I so loved your pictures of the old folks dancing on IG this weekend. I too would cupid shuffle with them and MFD!

  18. What a fun weekend and OMG your PUG is SO CUTE. Those and french bull dogs are my favorite. I saw you on the weekend link up, come say hi sometime!

  19. fun weekend and love that you also have 2 pugs just like me :) where did you get that mug? i might need it too haha.

  20. I want those nails! And the puppy! :) Darling!

  21. Sorry to hear about Uncle Ron. Hope you both have safe travels.

    The nuzzling pugs kill me.

  22. love your polish! super pretty color.

  23. I didn't like the five year engagement very well myself. I was disappointed.

I do meal plan, though this school year it was harder than usual. I'm trying to get back into the habit, so I'll be lurking around your link up tomorrow looking for ideas!

  24. Whaaaaaa? No house cleaning? No gardening? No new recipes? That's my girl!!! Way to take a weekend off!!! ;)

  25. Great weekend! Jeals of your beach trip, but please tell the Atlantic I miss her. Enjoy!
