Read My Mind

Just kidding, don't. Things roll around in there like tumbleweeds with no discernible pattern. Things I'd like to discuss with you. Things like...
Source
1. Veep - You guys, you know I like politics, creative cursing, and smart dialogue. Why didn't anyone force this show on me earlier? MFD and I watched all of season one on Monday night. It was hilarious. Dick cake.

2. I haven't been discussing books on here recently. You can always find what I've just read and what I'm reading now by going to the Let's Talk Books tab up top. Currently I'm struggling through Schroder by Amity Gaige. It has about 20 more pages before it gets shit canned.

I recommend Reconstructing Amelia by Kimberly McCreight - this year's wanna be Gone Girl, it was good and worth reading. Next on my list: The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett, The Skin Gods by Richard Montanari, and Mermaids in the Basement by Michael Lee West.

3. Strawberry picking - We're going this weekend. Summer To Do list item, checkity check check.

4. I feel like a dirty old lady saying this since he's 10 years younger than me, but I watched The Lucky One this weekend and Zac Efron is hot, you guys. Even though for most of the movie it appeared like he was talking underwater.

5. The Kardashians are back. While I hate most of them, I adore the douchey Lord Disick and also Brody Jenner, who is on more this season. Dirty Old Lady part II. I stalk him on Instagram so I can see his surf around the world shit.

6. If you're unhappy, it's because of a choice you're making. Sometimes we think we don't have a choice, but that is not the case. The choice might be a difficult one people will try to give you shit for, but the choice is there. You are within your right to refuse to be around negative people or to put yourself in negative situations, no matter who those people are in relation to you. As for saying no to things you do want to do, if you are saying yes to too many things and robbing yourself of time to relax and be, you're going to burn out and be no good to anyone. It's okay to say no without an excuse.

7. I am a lazy duster in the summer. The pool is calling and dust is holding me back. Say hello to my little friend, the swiffer duster. Also known as the lazy lady's helper. Swiff swoff swoof dunzo.

9. Ladies, get these Essie polishes for summer: Sunday Funday and Madison Ave-Hue. You're welcome.

10. Ever since I titled this post, Read My Mind by The Killers has been going through my head. It's one of my favorite songs.

The stars are blazing like rebel diamonds cut out of the sun
When you read my mind

Love the Killers, but not their name. I do not like Killing. I like that
Cinderella in a Party dress. The Killers were introduced to me by your brother on our many trips to soccer practices.
Be outside as much as you can today. Tomorrow another storm center!

Al, I'm excited to start it. Schroder picked up a bit on the train this morning. I'm trying to motor through it so I can get on Pillars. I love a good epic.

  11. when twilight first came out, that wolf guy taylor something was in it and at the time, he was 16 or 17 and i thought "OMG he's hot! that body!" and then i felt like a dirty old woman because he's half my age :(

and i totally 100% agree with you about choices: everyone has them and it's very rare that we're "stuck"; we just don't want to make that hard decision but when you do, you'll wonder what took you so long!

  14. Your mom's comments are my favorite.

I love Veep; I am sad we got rid of all of our movie channels so I can't watch it anymore.

Did you like the Lucky One? I read the book but haven't seen the movie yet. I need to check out the Safe Haven movie too. I just feel like the movies based on the Nicholas Sparks books never live up to the book.

  15. I've heard about Reconstructing Amelia... I need to download it. I read Gone Girl last summer and loved it until the end... And hmmm. maybe Veep should be my next netflix show?

  16. DUDE I love my Swiffer! I have never seen the extendo handle though - need to find it!

I would only call you creepy old lady if you took their pictures and added clip art hearts and stuff on them, and maybe referred to them constantly. It's okay to be a flirty cougar.

  17. I had Sunday Funday in my hand the other day and then swapped it out for a cheaper brand and forever regret it. DAMN.

I am dying to watch Veep. As soon as we finish Arrested Development!

Oh, hey Brody! Looking good all man-grizzlied up!

  18. This DOL--dirty old lady--loved Zac Efron when he was too young to be adored by someone of my age. I would guess his mom and I might have gone to different schools together. I'm a lazy duster no matter spring, summer, winter, fall. I've got to host something to get a good dusting.
