Every day I'm shuffling

No I'm not. That's a lie. I rarely shuffle, if ever.

I am doing other things every day though. Very important things. Who hates Tuesday, raise their hand! Sorry to interject that. It just came out like it does every Tuesday.

Every day, I try to live with intent and purpose, to approach each day with that attitude. Even Tuesdays. I want to make sure all of my needs are being met - mentally, emotionally, physically; at home and at work.

Seven Things I Do Every.Single.Day.

1. Thank the universe and count my blessings. I start in the morning and I don't stop until I'm drifting off to sleep. I am grateful for things large and small EVERY day. Sometimes when everything is going wrong, I am thankful simply that the day will be over eventually and that tomorrow is another day, and that is enough. I look for the silver lining, always - it saves a situation from being a total shit show.

2. Review my To Do list for the day and the week. I prioritize to make sure I'm concentrating on the most important things and getting things done. Things come up, you have to reevaluate what's going on every day.

3. Wipe down the kitchen counters, bathroom sinks and toilets; empty the kitchen sink, make the bed, and pick up around the house. When I do daily maintenance for 20-25 minutes a day, my weekly cleaning is a breeze. I function better when my space is relatively clean and organized.

4. Before I go to sleep: I read a book - even if it is only five pages before I fall asleep - and spend imaginary lottery winnings even though I rarely buy a ticket.

5. Do some type of exercise, even if it's just a quick walk around the city at lunch. Ten or 15 minutes is better than no minutes.

6. Drink coffee and think about how much water I'm drinking (it's never enough).

7. Things I don't intend to do, but wind up doing daily:

  • look for stars in the sky
  • laugh at something funny MFD does or says
  • examine the fine lines around my eyes and my gray hairs
  • think of sitting on the beach and staring at the ocean
  • check out my nail polish
  • reference both Dirty Dancing and Sweet Brown and then laugh about it to myself and point it out to others
  • hit the snooze button at least twice
  • check the elbows of my shirts for holes
  • hug my dogs too tightly
  • take photos of some food item with my iPhone
  • fear falling down stairs, and
  • a million other weird things.
What do you make sure you do every day? What do you unintentionally do every day?

  2. I have never really thought about the little, crazy things I do every day. I do look for stars, though. Every time I walk outside at night the first thing I do is look up. It's almost a reaction to being outside. Weird. I'm going to think on this today. I did a post once about the crazy things that run through my head on my way home from work. It was hilarious (to me).
Happy Tuesday (like it or not), friend!

  5. I love this post. I use my instagram for my #dailygratitude which is always fun to take pictures all day and then decide before I go to bed which is my favorite. I like your daily clean up - if only I could make that part of my daily routine.

  6. Daily - I make sure to get up and check work email. Working for myself from home - I tend to sometimes put other things ahead of that.

Unintentional - Come up with every excuse under the sun to not clean or do laundry! (Or maybe it is intentional...)
