Stuffed peppers: remove the insides of four peppers and place in a pot of boiling water for 4 minutes, then plunge into an ice bath. Brown 1 lb ground anything (I used beef) with a bit of red onion and garlic and prepare 1 cup of brown rice. Mix the beef mixture and rice with 1/2 cup grated cheese of your choice and sauce (use at least a cup). My sauce was homemade so it had some chunks of tomatoes, which were awesome. Fill the peppers with the mixture and place in a casserole dish. Cover with tin foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil and add some more cheese to the tops. Broil for an additional 5-7 minutes.

Derwood and Brian visited, we caught up on Criminal Minds and fell asleep in the living room with all the lights on by 10 p.m. Boom.
MFD's things that I had to do: Deal with cardboard recycles, pick up dog poop, take out basement and kitchen trash, replace exterior lightbulb, find beeping fire detector and stop the incessant beeping. Blah to all.
I also did my things: sheets, towels, laundry, dishes, cleaning out fridge, wiping down bathrooms, paying bills, making grocery lists, reorganizing makeup, blah blah BLAH. Hausfrauing, yo.
I caught up on The Following and watched some college hoops.
I tried my new nailpolish, butter london Trout Pout. I loved how it went on, but I was hoping it would be more orange and less pink.
We were supposed to go to dinner at Dad & Carol's for my birthday, but they brought it here so MFD didn't have to go out. Debbie joined us and I enjoyed many of my favorite things: veggie pizzas, angel food cake with fruit and a Cool Whip mix, ribs (I only eat them in private homes because I'm weird) and wine. Carol also read my Favorite Things blog and got me some of those from her and my Dad, along with everyone's favorite thing: cash. hahaha
Being up since 5:20 wore me the F out, and I was in bed before 10. I slept for over nine hours and it rocked.
Daylight savings day always leaves me feeling like I'm behind. The day always slips away from me.
I didn't do as much as I wanted to, probably because I spent the morning snuggling with the dogs and watching Cry-Baby with MFD. I did go grocery shopping, took MFD to an appointment where I sat in the car with more coffee and magazines, and freshened this piece up with some cheap flowers. Cheap flowers make me happy.
I also made Guinness Roasted Corned Beef, which will be on the blog tomorrow.
Monday morning brings MFD's first post-op appointment, so I have to go down to the city at the crack of dawn with him, bring him back, then go back down to work. At least it's a short week since I'm off on Friday for my birthday.
Happy 82nd birthday to my Pop. He is the coolest man. Here's some of the family with him wearing suspenders at his 80th birthday party - he wears suspenders every day so we paid homage.
This week on the blog: Tuesday is corned beef recipe day, Wednesday a jamble of thoughts as usual on Haphazard Wednesday, Thursday a guest post from Jana at Daily Money Shot (I'll be guest posting over there on preparing for weekends away) and Friday a special birthday edition of the Friday Five. BUSY THINGS, people. BUSY THINGS.
BIRTHDAY WEEK, commence.

What a fabulous weekend! I loved this weather and stayed outside almost all day. Loving that trout pout, too. Hee hee
Now, I've got to get out and get that Clinique free gift. I've been needing an excuse to spend money on the age spot corrector.

I totally love stuffed peppers. I am a vegetarian so I always use fake (soy) beef, but they are still delish. In fact, I need to make them again soon!
Happy birthday--looks like it was a blast! And LOL to the ribs only in private homes. Is it cause they're messy? heehee.
H-H-H-iiiiiiii!!!! I'm on my second free iced coffee! WHHHHHHEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!! The gallery wall looks fantastic! Are they photos you or MFD took? I want to do something like that on our family room. How were the stuffed peppers? I made a stuffed peppers pinterest recipe a few weeks ago, and it was really bland. Pinterest fail.
Those stuffed peppers look SO good! :)
