Haphazard Wednesday Thangs

1. Do you know what it's like to come home to a deep cleaned and laundered house on a Monday? It is fucking awesome. Lori rocks. Not to mention that she cleaned Tuesday as well, took the trash out for me on Sunday, doctored Gus's foot up, and took care of MFD on Monday and Tuesday and this morning. She basically ran my household for me, giving me a break I really needed. Grateful doesn't begin to cover it.

2. Also awesome to come home to on a Monday: A delivery of Brother's Pizza from Carol and my Dad, and a fixed kitchen drawer courtesy of my dad. It broke last week in another instance of shitty timing.

3. On Tuesday my Mom moved my Pop's birthday dinner to my house and brought all the food and dessert. Gamma, Pop, me, Lori, Rich, Swan, and Mom all stayed in the Invalid's Lair so MFD could be in his comfortable spot. Thanks for a great dinner Mom! Check out my almost 82 year old Pop in his stylin' skateboarder sneakers.

4. I did a flurry of online shopping for my birthday. Once again, I neglected to use ebates. WHYYYYYYYY. Suck. My gorgeous Big Buddah commuting bag arrived. I love it. The paisley inside! I die. I want to live inside there. Less exciting arrivals in the bag package: ground flaxseed and a Killian Michaels DVD. Back to exciting arrivals: my sweet friend Yuki sent me a package from Sephora as a pick me up, and it really did. AND my friend Rachael sent me a DVD of Sing. I will be watching that shit this weekend FO' SHO.

5. Happy days are here again mofos! Free iced coffee Mondays from DD are back. I hoard coupons from my Gamma and my Mom and get a free iced coffee in the morning and a free iced tea in the afternoon.

6. My clothes are typically all solids. I'm trying to branch out this year. So far I've bought a striped top AND a gingham button down. Baby steps.

7. After all the shit that's gone down over the past month, I need to secure a sage smudge stick and cleanse our house of negativity, entering each room and saying “I cleanse this room of any impurities, negativity, or anything that does not suit or support the people that live here.” Stat.

8. I haven't cooked in a zillion years. On the menu soon: stuffed peppers, tacos, and Guinness roasted corned beef. I'll even do a full picture post of that baby. Last night I slept in my bed for the first time in 12 nights. I'm getting back to the routine, people. Watch out!

9. It's supposed to snow today. Mother nature can go scratch. It's March 6 for crap's sake. Plus I'd have to shovel.

10. Ecard of the week. Truth.

Let's get over the hump.

p.s. I now officially hate my basement. I've never spent so much time down there. And I never will again. And I'm on the hunt for a short bookcase to replace a piece of furniture down there.

Linking up with Shanna for Random Wednesday.

  1. Amen to that eCard. I often thinks of people who run in and out of the house in errands all day, like my parents, and I wonder how they do it, because I am never, ever dressed in acceptable clothing, and I rarely have makeup on or my hair done when home.

    1. I never have makeup on, hair done, or rings or any jewelry on at home. I'm wearing yoga pants, a long sleeve T, and a sports bra. Boom.

  4. I used to work for a designer that designed yoga clothes...I wore elastic clothes every.single.day of the week. Gerren didn't see me in jeans for 2 years (no joke).

  5. You should have MFD break his ankle more often. Housekeepers and food?!?! Love it! Just kidding, it's wonderful how many people have reached out to help you both. Kinda makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

This Saturday is friends and family day at Ikea. Might be able to get a good deal on a bookcase!

I'm obsessed with the Fresh lip balms. That a great treat to receive in the mail. They just announced a new shade "petal" I can't wait til sephora gets it in stock! Enjoy all the new goodies!!!

  7. Great-ful to be able to celebrate my dad's 82nd bday(actually 3/11) Had a lovely time last night & my pleasure to cook dinner & dessert with the special ingredient of LOVE. Which is ALWAYS good luck. How in the world did Pop ever pick out those skateboarder sneaks? Usually, he has velcro!! Did we find out where he got them?? Happy yesterday was such a pretty day & pushing this storm away, far away. All I want is totally perfect weather with rain as we sleep so we stay green.
Carpe diem and Godspeed for everyone to be safe. Extra lights and angels especially to Lori on her trip home. Love your MOMMA

  13. Losing my job resulted in a get-out-of-wearing-presentable-clothes-free card! 13 months and still going strong. All my sweats are wearing out. Even bras are optional in the winter time!

And every house needs an occasional smudging. Good luck with yours!

  14. Lori and your fam are the collective end all and be all. I'm so glad you have such great support! And yes, I'm all about going from clean and polished to skanked out hobo in 5 minutes or less once I'm home.

  15. I am grateful I could help. When trouble strikes a lot of times we sit feeling helpless not knowing what we can do. I am glad I could do something that helped fix some of what was wrong. Love you! L

  17. That eCard cracked me up. I say that while wearing my grey sweatpants and have the hood up on my sweater :)

That is great that your family is helping you two out. I totally get how much it can help when someone takes something like cleaning off your plate.

  19. I seriously almost peed in my pants! Killian Michaels! I die. I have her head taped to my fridge...she scares the hell outta me and I've never met her. We have a love/hate relationship. I love her body and she hates that I'm fat.

I have to know where you got that bag? AMAZING!!!!

  24. That bag...I love it!

I always joke with my mom about doing a sage cleanse in my parents' house because I swear it is haunted. I'm totally into the whole sage smudge idea!
