the weekend that was

Friday

Naughty french bread pizza acquired from Redner's on the way home, eaten while catching up on The Vampire Diaries. And receiving upsetting texts referencing midgets from my husband. I also turned the heat to 73 at one point. This has never ever been done before. Of course I spent some time hausfrauing and doing laundry. I'm my own maid.

I baked a fabulous coffee cake. I normally don't even like coffee cake. It was delicious. MFD suggested a raspberry swirl in it the next time. I agree.

This baked potato soup in the crockpot that I based off of this recipe

Saturday

Another attempt at yoga. Every few years I try it again. Still no dice. I'm not bendy.

Morning relaxation.

Both of my parents dropped by throughout the day.

Nails - Essie Merino Cool. Dog - Geege. Toes - OPI Nantucket Mist. Background - Downton Abbey.

Five episodes of Downton Abbey, season one. I've come down with the fever.

Dinner at Kitchen Consigliere with MFD, Amanda and Frank.

We destroyed the calamari and antipasto appetizers. I had veal piccata (naturally) and the most delicious  coffee gelato. All of the desserts were fabulous. So was the wine, which we continued drinking at Frank & Amanda's.

Snowy scenes on the way home from Amanda and Frank's.

Sunday

Red wine on Saturday night = sleeping in and soda instead of coffee.

Buffalo balls. I said balls. Balls balls balls. Balls.

What super bowl? I finished out the first season of Downton Abbey, watched the entire second season of Downton Abbey. And the first episode of season three if you must know. I had the Downton Abbey flu and I do not regret it. I stayed up until 1 a.m. on a Sunday night watching, and considered taking off today to lounge and watch the rest of season three. Then I remembered I was not an aristocrat and had to get my ass to work.

That's all she wrote. I can't come up with a witty sign off because I'm too busy concentrating on how my feet are too frozen to move.

Tomorrow on this blog: my kitchen essentials.

Buffalo balls? I am intrigued. Yes it was the excessive use of "balls".

Coffee cake looks wonderful!

Downton has that effect, making you want to stay in and keep watching. One of my favorite shows!

So much good food! Ok, I know I said I'm jealous of 60 degrees, but now I'm jealous of your snow. If it's cold, we might as well have fun in it! I love Downton! I'm glad you're on board. I haven't watched any of season three yet though. There's never any time!!!

I still have yet to watch an episode of Downton. I feel like such a failure.

Buffalo balls sound delicious. In the not disturbing way.
So - I'm curious. Downton Abby - is it like another show? I hear so many people talking about it - but I am still lenient. What show does it closely resemble?
