the first weekend in 2013 that was

Leftovers: Pork and sauerkraut and mashed potatoes.
I brown the pork in a pan, and then I deglaze the pan with Yuengling.
I toss the pork, kraut, and beer in the crock with a bit of dry mustard and let 'er rip.
I love this meal.

+

I finished The Light Between Oceans and started Notorious Nineteen.
I loved The Light Between Oceans, but I cried at the end.
I always enjoy a Stephanie Plum novel and it'll be a lighter read for sure.

+

Six episodes of Homeland Season 2.
God, I cannot STAND the daughter this season. She is the worst.

+

My dogs loved that I was basically motionless for six hours.
I love them in this photo, even though I look like a homeless troll pajama lady.

+

Coffee. Penndel, my hometown.
This mug is 39 years old. It was my Grandmom's. I love stuff like this.

+

More obsessive Homeland watching.
Are you sick of hearing me blather on about Homeland yet?
Are you annoyed that I'm behind the times?
Too bad, so sad. I started, and now I can't stop.
I'm pretty sure I asked everyone on Saturday night if they watched it.

+

Nails.

+

Great sky on Saturday. These aleady appeared on instagram, but I couldn't resist.

+

My father-in-law's 60th gathering at Sandy's
Happy birthday Mr.!

Mr. and the boys, Me/Michelle/Amanda, Evan/MFD/Fronk, Mr. blowing out his candles, two sets of Doyles, Mrs. & Mindy
+

Annual post Mummer's Parade night at the Buj house
It ended with having to force MFD out of the hot tub, a search in the dark for glasses,
snow, and a harrowing ride home. Including one lane bridge bullcrap.
Calgon. Where the hell were you?

+

Sunday's big breakfast

+

Sunday soup: kitchen sink. I needed to use up some veggies.
I tossed potatoes, broccoli, onion, carrots, celery and whole garlic into a bowl with olive oil and salt and pepper, and roasted them at 425 for about 20 minutes.
Then I threw them in a pot with about 8 cups of chicken stock, brought it to a boil, then simmered for 10 minutes. I smoothed it out with an immersion blender and threw it in the fridge for the week.

+

Hausfrauing all day, including stripping and washing both couches.
I flipping love having fully washable couches.

Couches, you've come undone.
+

A nice fat 2.5 hour nap

+

Hard boiled eggs in the oven. This was super easy, and they were very easy to peel too.

+

Meal planning and writing out my lists for the week, watching  Happy Endings and Don't Trust the B,
and eating chocolate cake. Bottoms up, bitches. No naughty foods during the week.

the first weekend in 2013 that was

I'm already swearing on everything I have that I'm not doing shit all next weekend. I'm bumming around my house and doing a full clean, not the crap job I did on Sunday. And cooking. And exercise. And pin a bunch of shit on pinterest. And not drink wine or booze. And read. And nap. And watch movies. And not leave my house.

Ok. The first full week of work in what seems like an eternity. Our lady of Victory, pray for us.

  1. I just got an email from the library that a copy of Nineteen is being held for me. I love an easy read!

That is such a good idea to pre-peel your hard boiled eggs. Do they keep well that way?

  7. We had a pretty lazy weekend, and it was heavenly. What I would do for one more day of it!!!! Mondays are especially rough after you've had time to lounge around, I think.

Quite the culinary chops! I'm always amazed by people who meal plan. I have a hard time planning ANYTHING in my life!
