Thursday Thoughts

Truth. One of my favorite quotes from Song of Solomon. What's holding you back? Let it go.

One of my favorite songs of all time is It's All Right by The Impressions. Give it a whirl.

Every time I hear the word "affirmations," I see and hear this in my head:

I'm quenching my thirst for beauty products by paying $10 a month for a Glam Bag delivery from Ipsy. This stuff was in November's. December, bring mama something good.

Happy 15th Anniversary to my Dad & Carol today. I love you guys!

Laura and I frequently plot how we can become friends with The Bloggess and read her posts looking for things we can squeal, "That is so you/me/us!" over.

Knock Knock Motherfucker. The best blog post of all time courtesy of The Bloggess.

I could totally wax poetic about the depth of flavor sauteed vegetables bring to a run of the mill pot of soup. I sauteed the onions, carrots and celery for this turkey noodle soup, and man alive does it just kick it up several thousand notches. Whatever happened to Emeril? Anyway, trust me. Next time you're making a pot of soup, saute your veggies if you don't already.

Whenever I hear Fleetwood Mac, I try to imagine the relationship between Stevie Nicks and Lindsay Buckingham. I mean we are talking about two people in the same band who put their entire imploding relationship on display in one of the best albums of all time: Rumours. Incidentally, while I think about this all the time, I was born the same year that album came out...so it's not even like I was around to witness this.

Some days kick your ass and call for a simple and easy dinner. What's your go to? I'm linking up with Lora at Raising Steppe Sisters today to share my easy go-to recipe:

half a chopped onion and two minced cloves of garlic sauteed in olive oil
Fresh or frozen broccoli steamed in the microwave
black olives, sliced
a bunch of halved grape tomatoes (or a can of diced tomatoes)
barilla plus pasta cooked al dente
all tossed together with more EVOO and freshly grated locatelli cheese
I always have all of those ingredients on hand and it's quick and relatively healthy.
Viola...dinner is served.

Ecard of the week, repinned from Jen O. This made me laugh and laugh. And add "poop" as a label for this post.

Last night I bagged 95% of my Christmas gifts. After Wrapping Palooza this weekend, it'll be 100%. As you southerners say, pin a rose on my nose.

  1. Um, I totally HAVE said that in a restroom before.
My go-to, easy meals vary, but last night I took frozen rst veg raviolis, bonesless, skinless chicken breasts, and a jar of pesto, and made it fabulous.

  2. Very enjoyable, as always. Some day people will be talking about giving
Stephanie Doyle's book as a holiday gift. I am really loving that $10.00 a month glam package- love little surprises, which is why I have so many junk drawers- I never know what will turn up- and I am the one that puts the stuff in there LOL! LOVE Stevie Nicks-she is a good witch!
Beautiful, sunny day- Enjoy & Carpe diem!

    Love your proud mommmmma!

  3. I always saute the veggies for soup. Unless i don't. Then I toasty them.
Rumours is a great album. I can't listen to it though because the songs get stick in my head. Earl-eye in the morning style.

    1. Auto spell thought I would toasty the veggies. Naturally, I would not. I would roasty them.
It also thought songs would get stick in my head.
I REALLY miss my wireless. Posting from my phone is becoming tedious.

  13. Hahaha! That ecard! I feel the same way about Fleetwood Mac! I just got tickets to see them in concert. I wonder how awkward it is for them now. Kinda like No Doubt. Gwen Stefani STILL writes songs about Tony, who broke up with her 20 years ago!
