the pre-Christmas weekend that was

Grandmom passed away very early Friday morning.
Friday evening, we gathered at my Dad & Carol's to be together.
We ate, drank, looked at old photos, and reminisced.
It was nice.

Grandmom and my Dad, Grandmom and Pop on their wedding day, Grandmom and Pop with Terri as a baby and Aunt Threse, Pop ice skating on a street
Peace is the word this season, Pop's Seabees footlocker, red red wine and snowmen
Aubrey and MFD needed a nap in the quiet room

I had MFD up and at Sam's at 7 a.m. on Saturday morning.
He was mollified by the free coffee and cookies.

I had coffee, caught up on correspondence, and got my hair done by
the fabulous Kristi at Sensational Scissors.
They had mimosas for clients. Best salon ever.

Errands: groceries, MAC (the bank kind not the makeup kind), library, Kohl's.
I tried to get a pedicure but that shit was insane.
And everyone was driving like they were the only people on the road - pulling out at will, etc.
Merry Christmas - Santa saw you suck, so driving lessons for everyone.

A little computer work and RHOBH.
I love when my dogs are my bookends.

Murder in the Hamptons on Lifetime Movie Network.
Sometimes you just need a little LMN.
Watching people be batshit crazy in a made for TV movie is enthralling.

MFD and I ventured out to Produce Junction, Famous Footwear and Target.
I'm never in stores this time of year. We saw some sights, boy.

Long lines at Produce Junction, naturally; a totally busted back window on a freezing cold day; MFD's shoes in the middle of the aisle at Famous Footwear as he browsed on the other side of the store; that hack Bieber has his own ornament. Why the musical instruments? He's not a musician.

Dinner a la MFD: crab ravioli in vodka sauce with garlic bread

I watched some Undercover Boss, Can't Hardly Wait, and SNL with Bruno Mars.
Bruno Mars, let's be friends. You're awesome.

Sunday morning required productivity.
Lots of hausfrauing and laundry. The dogs were not pleased.
"Mom, please stop cleaning the basement and come lay on the couch." "She's not coming up." "We're lazy. Please come lay with us."

My Dad and Carol found this box with my name on it when they were getting some stuff from my Grandmom's. They're Mickey and Minnie salt and pepper shakers. I love them and put them in my china cabinet with some china she picked up for me at her community's Treasure Chest a few years ago.
Thank you Grandmom.

I had a craft emergency. I am not a crafty bitch.
Luckily my BFF Laura, a master crafter, was in town. She came by and took care of it for me.

I made salted caramel chocolate chip cookies (pictured).
I also made regular chocolate chips. I use the Tollhouse recipe.

I put these on my favorite Christmas plate.

I made ranch dip, onion dip, and 2 lbs of shrimpy macaroni salad for Christmas Day.
I also boiled eggs and chicken for future use.

Debbie dropped by to see me before she left for Christmas in Arizona.
She's usually with us on Christmas Eve and Christmas. We'll miss her!
She gave me two awesome bracelets of her own design.
The charms are angels watching over me and the tree of life.
Very lovely and apropos in my life right now.

I took MFD to Ferko because I am a nice designated driver person.
We stopped at Wawa on the way. I was rocking my sequined slippers.
Glamour Dos and Don'ts, kiss my grits.

Amish Mafia.
I'd never seen it. I'm at a loss for words.
I literally have no words.

Aside from needing to paint my nails, I'm as ready as I'll be.
Bring it, Christmas.

Some of my ceramic trees, lights in the window, our 2012 tree. MFD's grandparents' monk is always our tree topper.

Happy Christmas Eve!. Enjoy this holiday with your people. This afternoon we're kicking things off with  my favorite Christmas Eve tradition: sharing some cheer with family and friends at Sandy's in Langhorne. Cheers to you and yours.
