12/12/12

Still a work on progress, ornament-wise
While I dislike decorating the tree, I adore the ornaments we've collected over the years.

We usually pick one up on our travels - these samples are from Nassau, Key West, and the fuzzy is the Disney Dream.

Much love for the shore always, not just during the summer - ornaments from Cape May, Sea Isle, and Ocean City.

Commemorating our big things - the year we bought our house, and a custom made ornament of our wedding by our BFF Debbie of Debbie Rae Designs.

It's so hard to pick a favorite. I love them all. What's your ornament story?

December 12 - today is my Gamma's 80th birthday, and it's the start of the 12 days of Christmas.

12/12/12 -  the last time we'll see a repetitive number date in this lifetime. Make it a good one!

Linking up with Shanna for Random Wednesday.

  1. I am getting a pedicure to celebrate 12/12/12. We have ornaments from all over the world - some that were my Grandma's that she got in China.

  2. I love the personal, meaningful ornaments so much more than the matchy-matchy color-coordinated trees. I have started buying an ornament from 10,000 Villages every year as a 'family' ornament, so we can grow our collection (and support artisans trying to pull themselves up by their bootstraps). The boys will get it Christmas morning.

    1. I love that idea! Supporting local artisans is awesome, and the family ornament is wonderful.

  4. Grandma Max started a tradition with her first grandchild and has kept with it to this day: each Thanksgiving, we're all given an ornament from her, with the year on the back. She did it for Drew and then picked it up for my mom after she died for my youngest three. They don't tell a story of travels, but they do tell different kinds of stories. I love having all sorts of different ornaments - our tree is an old fashioned tree.

  6. One of my most favorite pictures from your wedding is on there - love it!

The past couple years, we've moved away from using our collected-through-the-years ornaments, and this year with two new cats we'll probably do that again, but I hope that maybe next year we'll go back to it.

  8. Happy birthday Gamma!

I love to sit and look at all my ornaments too. I have some of my grandparents, I'm sure they are over 100 years old. I cherish them.

  9. I love your travel ornaments!! My husband and I pick out a new snowman ornament every year and write the date on the back - they're the only snowmen ornaments on the tree - so by the time we have kids/grandkids they'll get to inspect all the snowmen and see how "old" they are :)

  10. Aw I like these! The new home one is too cute. We definitely had the eclectic ornaments as a kid, but on my tree now they're all matching from crate and barrel, because I'm too OCD to just let it be...
