The Pre-Thanksgiving Weekend That Was

Friday night was a late night at work, followed by a train that was 15 minutes late, coupled with food shopping at two stores. My house was in shambles, but I spent the night on the couch in flannel pajamas, reading US Weekly, watching Duck Dynasty, and eating cookies for dinner.
This week kicked my ass. And Gus's too.

+

Saturday morning was an early wake-up call, a big cup of coffee, and Channing Tatum.

+

If you fall ill, you simply must try elderberry extract.
Ms. Patricia recommended it to me last week, I got it Friday and by Saturday felt 70% better, which is a total win in my book. It's more expensive than drug store stuff, but it's totally worth it. And it's natural.

+

Diary of a hausfrau: I cleaned like the little engine that could, changing sheets, dusting and vacuuming, cleaning bathrooms, and spraying everything down with Lysol.
I also did eleventy billion loads of laundry.
Seriously, 10 total loads this weekend and none were MFD's. WTF.
Being sick all week meant nothing got done, so it felt good to restore order.

+

A slice of mushroom at Penndel Pizza.
Penndel Pizza is good, but doesn't hold a candle to Brother's.

+

Fresh cut & color courtesy of my fabulous friend and stylist Kristi at Sensational Scissors.
Excuse my face, I find self portraits of just myself awkward. hahaha

+

Thank you Urban Outfitters for this email. It made me laugh.
A YOLO OMG WTF Sale. I love it.

+

A cheap trip to Target. I stuck to the essentials and avoided purchasing the 43 scarves I wanted.

+

I've always been happy in libraries, which is why I still go once a week and ignore my kindle.
I secured the latest Tana French and can't wait to get into it.

+

Dinner date at Florentino's in Newtown.
MFD had a glass of wine, I had the rest, and was asleep on the couch by 10 p.m.

+

Coffee, Bill, and addressing some Christmas cards on Sunday morning while watching the last two episodes of Nashville. I wish there were 77 more for me to watch in succession.
I pink puffy heart that show.

+

If you make one soup this year, make this one.
Lauren pinned it last year, and I made it twice.
On the norm, I don't repeat soups during soup season so that tells you how good it is.

+

Breakfast burritos, a modification of this recipe from Counting Our Cupcakes
I omitted the potatoes, used 12 eggs, and added red and green bell peppers and onion.
I am very very bad at folding burritos.
I labeled them, threw them in the freezer, and hoped for the best.

+

I used orange instead of lemon, and a packet of sugar + two splenda instead of the stevia.
These are good and healthy, but if you don't like quinoa, you won't like them.

+

A lazy Sunday afternoon into evening, which included:
-Thanksgiving Live on The Food Network
-finishing The Starboard Sea
-Catching up on pinterest
-Two episodes of Revenge On Demand. This show is on FIY-AH. I was miffed that it wasn't on last night.

+

What an amazing sunset. It's ludicrous that it was at 4:50 p.m., but amazing nonetheless.

+

Chicken enchilada pasta. Ole, mofos. This would be great for a quick weeknight meal.
I made the enchilada sauce found through that link too. I liked this a lot.
I added more sauce to taste and used 16 oz of pasta.

+

Nails. I went rogue and did a glitter nail on my ring fingers like what's been all over pinterest.
Don't judge the mani, I didn't clean it up yet.

+

Lots of quality times with my sleepy boys all weekend.
I opened with Gus so I'm closing with my Geege.

  4. Late fall skies are incredible. Sad that they appear so early, but on the plus side, they are well before bedtime... And I must try elderberry extract - where to buy it? I have a cold, courtesy of Kaylee.

  9. As you know, I too love Nashville (I'm a couple episodes behind - boo). I seriously downloaded "If I Didn't Know Better" after Scarlett and Gunnar sang it on the show. I'll have to check out elderberry extract.

  10. Just finished reading a book that was a re-imagined Pride & Prejudice. The apothecary told the characters to drink Elderberry wine to help ward off the fever that was going around. Guess it was a real medical remedy after all.
