the wedding festivities weekend that was

I made myself wait until after vacation to get my first pumpkin spice latte.
I didn't love it. Too spicy. Expectations too high?
Things got weird.

The first and last time I saw the Oscar Mayer Weinermobile in person was when I was a freshman in college. My brother sent me this photo from Chicago Friday night. He's a freshman in college, in Chicago for a soccer game, and saw the fabled Weinermobile. My heart seized with joy.

Rehearsal, followed by an awesome night at Maggiano's for Frank & Amanda's rehearsal dinner.
Thanks to the Sannellis for the hospitality.
I love laughing with friends of more than 20 years about all of our shared hijinks.
It sets the tone for an awesome weekend.

I dug out my apache blessing coffee mug, sat outside and asked the universe to shine on
Frank & Amanda as they start their married life together.
Then I saw a guy out for his morning jog wearing a sweatband, polo shirt, jeans, and a belt.
I knew then for sure that Saturday would be a great day.

Sunday soup was made on Saturday this week in anticipation of a Sunday hangover.
I threw some leftover pork and peas in a pot, added homemade chicken stock, carrots, portobello mushrooms and orzo, and bam. Leftover soup done.
The soy I used on the original pork dish imparted a nice flavor to the soup.

Pickin' chicken.
Whenever I roast a whole chicken or get a rotisserie, I do two things when it's done:
I pick it and shred it and freeze a cup of chicken to use in future recipes.
And I make chicken stock to freeze for all of my lovely soups.
I threw the carcass, celery, carrots, garlic and onion in the crockpot, and
Sunday I added water and let it go for eight hours.

Broccoli egg bake for this week's breakfasts

Wiping down the inside of the refrigerator always skeeves me.
I also did other boring chores like changing sheets, laundry, wiping down bathrooms and kitchen.

Cleaning the ceiling fans with a pillow case. All the gross dust goes right into the case, shake the case outside, then wash it. Easy breezy beautiful clean ceiling fans.

Sun dappled dogs

Jersey Shore.
Deena, WTF with all the crying?

Lost in Jersey, again. 38 30 130 70 three different names for all roads...
Deliver me to the Crowne Plaza for the Sannelli wedding please!

The mothers of the bride and groom were visions, the bridal party looked fabulous,
the groom and his groomsmen were dapper,
the bride was gorgeous and the ceremony was beautiful.
If anyone is looking for an officiant, I know a wonderful one!
The right officiant makes the ceremony so nice and personal.
I survived reading in front of everyone without hyperventilating.
Amanda and Frank, thank you so much for asking me to write the readings for your ceremony.
It was a great honor.

Funny speeches, lots of drinks, tons of laughing, touching moments,
dancing, mumming, and five trips to the photo booth.
I think it's safe to say everyone had a blast at the reception.
Thanks to the newlyweds, Donna and Glenn and Mr & Mrs. S for two days of fun.
How much fun on Saturday?
So much fun we were up until 5 a.m. laughing, talking, and having a blast.
It was WAY past my bedtime, but BFFs of yours only get married once.
It makes my heart happy to see my friends so happy.

I was home by a little after 10 Sunday morning.
Couch lounging commenced immediately.

Sex & the City marathon. It's been a long time since I spent a day with the girls.

I tried to make stovetop mac & cheese.
It was just ok, but not the processed crappy Kraft that my hangover was demanding.

MFD had to work all day, poor guy.
He brought this home for me.
Hallelujiah and amen.

Simpson Treehouse of Horrors

the weekend that was

I will still be recovering tomorrow. At this age, hanging out like that requires a few days of recovery. Alas, this is a busy week at work. I better get to steppin'.

  1. I saw the weinermobile in Florida at an Orlando Suns' game in 1992. First and only time.
LOVE the Apache blessing coffee mug - great way to bless the day!
And wonderful wedding pics. Glad it went so beautifully.

    1. I just have to SEE my apache mug and I feel peace.

  2. I would like for once, just one time, not to get lost when we cross over into Jersey! Every time! And, this time on the way back, not only did we get lost, but we realized at the bridge we didn't have toll money and had to double back under the Betsy Ross bridge and then miraculously find the Tacony bridge that would accept our feeble $2.00 that we had on us. Its one of those, that will be funny one day, kind of stories...glad we're not the only Pa-ers that always get lost in that crazy state of New Jersey!!

    1. Rachael, we were lost Friday night getting to the rehearsal AND Saturday! Comedy. I can get to the Cherry Hill mall and I can get to Frank & Amanda's house, that's about it! hahahah

  3. I need to read your readings!!!! Always so proud of you! Such a joyous wedding and tons of pictures on fbk- which is what I LOVE about fbk!
Weinermobile- very funny- thankfully, none of the Villanova men's soccer players were weinerwhistles on Saturday and had their first Big East victory.
Perhaps the weinermobile sighting was good luck! Very nice you and Sean had that weinermobile freshman experience. There are NO coincidences! Carpe diem this chilly day!
    Your ever-lovin' momma

  4. holy crapola! all of these amazing foodie pictures are making me drool!!

and since you said you tried to make stove top mac and cheese and it wasnt so hot..and mac and cheese is my FAVORITE! i thought i'd post my moms recipe. granted, everyone thinks their mom has the best, so it might not live up to your expectations, but it worth a shot right? :)
its mostly stove top, and I've eaten it without baking, but the baking + the bread cumbs on top = heaven!

1 1/2 cups of uncooked macaroni
1/4 cup of margarine or butter
    1/2 teaspoon of salt
    1/4 teaspoon of pepper
    1/4 cup flour
    1 3/4 cups of milk
10 ounces of cheese (break cheese up into small pieces to melt easier)

Cook the macaroni and set is aside in casserole dish

Melt the margarine or butter over a medium heat (NOT HIGH)
Then slowly add the salt and pepper, stir
Now slowly add the flour, constantly stirring (this will be a thick mixture)

Now stir in the milk slowly so it mixes together with flour mixture.
Continue stirring until milk mixture boils, then remove from the heat.
Add the cheese, stir until all is melted
Taste to see if cheesey enough

    Add mixture to the macaroni
    Cover with bread crumbs
Cook in oven at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes

    1. I'm always up for a new mac & cheese recipe. Thank you!
