Caprese skewers for Friday night

+

I, too, carried a watermelon. Just saying it makes me grin.

We washed the couches on Thursday. Washable couches are awesome. They're like new.
Then we cover them with an intricate system of blankets to protect them from the dogs
And they wind up looking like a homeless encampment in a tent city somewhere.

So fresh and so clean.
So dog proof.

A fun night celebrating Frank's 30th birthday on Friday

+

Soul sucking, swamp ass inducing heat and humidity on Friday night.
I'm still chugging water to replace lost fluids.

+

I fell asleep around 1:10 on Friday night.
I woke up at 1:20 with Geege barking specifically in my face to let me know it was thundering.
He continued for an hour, and I finally got back to sleep at 2:30. It was hell.
Aunt Carrie gave me a tip: rub a dog with a dryer sheet when it's thundering.
I'll report back when I try it.

+

Up and out at 4:10 on Saturday to drive MFD to the Ferko clubhouse for a mummery overnighter.
I dropped books at the library's book drop around 5 a.m. and saw a lovely sky.

+

Macaroni salad is my summer staple to bring to parties. I made it at 5:30 a.m.
Then I watched a few episodes of Married with Children.
I love that show. I prefer Steve as the neighbor,  but I got Jefferson episodes.
You can't win 'em all.

Pre-mixed. Before the magic happens.

Breakfast with Grandmom at the Warminster Diner.
She prefers her french toast with ketchup.

+

I love the TJ Maxx on Street Road in Feasterville.
They have an eclectic home goods section and a good selection of bags.
I was into the bags on this trip. Obviously.

+

My Pureology arrived Saturday. There was much rejoicing throughout the land.
Well, throughout my house anyway.

+

I'm looking for a shirt that says "I survived the Produce Junction parking lot on a Saturday."
Let me know if you come across one.

+

A blissful hour after a cool shower...laying on my bed in my old lady muu muu, reading US Mag.
That is the life right there.

+

A good time at the Sannelli/DiCostanzo house, as always.
I was not there until the sun came up, which is the usual M.O. when we're all together.
And Michelle and I caught some fireworks from Cottman Avenue on the way home.
They're the only ones I will enjoy. Geege will be barking at the rest of them.
Grillmaster Fronk
Hydration is key. I'm travelling with a thermos of ice water all summer, boy.
Evan's mohawk
Maggie was the best dressed at the party

I was super tired from no sleep on Friday night and from the heat.
I collapsed on the couch and lucked into Major League from the beginning on one of the HBOs.
Winning!  is the appropriate thing to say in this situation, given that Sheen was Rick Vaughn.
One of my favorites. So many great lines in this movie.

Gus asked me to mention him since Geege was mentioned twice.

+

I took two benadryl and slept for 11 hours. I needed it.

Wish I was there
+

Lazy Sunday on the couch with the dogs.

+

Hemingway & Gellhorn. I love everything that covers Hemingway's private life.
And I love Clive Owen. Nicole Kidman not so much.

+

I followed that up with an afternoon of Kardashians.
Bruce Jenner, former Olympian. What have you done to your face?

+

Destroyed my kitchen making Sunday dinner:
I loved the fingerling potatoes with aioli sauce. The biscuits weren't worth the time.

+

Cucumber salad is my summer staple. All set for the week.

MFD's mummery weekend stories, True Blood, and pinterest to round out Sunday

In other news, it's still hot. At least it's only a four day work week thanks to the Fourth.

Now get out there and show this week who's boss.

p.s. We got our first tomato.

  1. Here here to lazy Sundays on the couch! With how bad my allergies were all weekend, that was all I could manage yesterday. Also, I have a green tomato in my fridge, and you just reminded me. That sucker's getting fried tonight.

    1. I considered watching it on DVD on Sunday but was too lazy to get that going.

    1. That's the word!

Pet Corner: Does your pet get anxious during thunderstorms? Anxiety in a pet during a thunderstorm isn't from the flashes of light or the sound, but a buildup of static electricity in their coat. Rub a dryer sheet on the coat to remove the static electricity. It will reduce or eliminate the pet's extreme anxiety and discomfort.
