the weekend that was

My one and only Shamrock Shake of the season...it's good to have limits on some things.
When asked if he wanted one, MFD replied "No thanks. No green milk for me."

Hello, love.

Catching Overboard and Urban Cowboy on TV, two of my all time favorites.
I must watch them whenever they're on.

You a real cowboy?

Redbox Movies: Contagion (resulting in major paranoia) and Midnight in Paris (excellent)

Purging and reorganizing the utility closet, basement storage hole, and basement man room.
Holy crap, it was a lot. And I still have the library to do.

Half of everything out of the closet

A quarter of the closet...I mean who really wants to see closet storage? Besides me.
I cannot wait to label the crap out of everything in there when my label maker arrives.

Cooking: chicken for Monday's dinner, chicken with cilantro lime pesto to freeze for dinner next week, zucchini pie for this week's breakfasts, crockpot chicken drumsticks for Saturday night, and french dip and parsnip puree for Sunday

Searing the meat for french dip. Add cleaning stovetop like a slave to my list of most hated chores.

Zucchini pie in my much loved quiche plate from Crate & Barrel

Sunday's soup - Hungarian mushroom. I should've doubled it.

A visit from our youngest nephew Jax

Catching up on Southland - if you're not watching this show, you should be.
I love the addition of  Lucy Liu to the cast this season.

Reading The Flight of Gemma Hardy

Dog bath on Sunday - two exasperated humans and two fluffy, pissed off pugs

p.s. This Friday! Happy Hour at For Pete's Sake, $5 at the door goes to Relay For Life of South Philadelphia and gets you drink and app specials. 8-10 p.m., hope to see you there!

p.p.s. This birthday hat that I coveted and bought for myself is for pea heads. It's going back.

  2. I need to get the zucchini pie recipe. I made french dip cupcakes from Pinterest yesterday, and they are the tits.

  3. Zucchini Pie:

    Preheat oven to 350

3 cups zucchini, grated (~1 large or 2 medium, it took me 1.5)
    1 small chopped onion
1 cup Bisquick (I had made my own and used that)
    4 large eggs
    1/2 cup vegetable oil
    1/2 cup parmesan cheese
1/2 tsp marjoram (omitted, but I did add some dry mustard)
1 tsp parsley (I used a bunch of fresh)
    1/4 tsp salt
    1/8 tsp pepper

*Hand Mix Only* all ingredients together.
Pour into a *Greased* pie dish.
Bake for 50 minutes (should be bubbly)
